Book Caa Significant Seven Task Force Reports

Download or read book Caa Significant Seven Task Force Reports written by Great Britain. Civil Aviation Authority and published by . This book was released on 2011-03-25 with total page 184 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The CAA task force initiative was launched in June 2009 as an action from the 2009 Safety Conference to address the seven top safety risks identified by the CAA safety risk analysis process. This process is described in the CAA 2009/11 Safety Plan (CAP 786, ISBN 9780117922464) and essentially combines analysis of worldwide fatal accidents carried out by the CAA Accident Analysis Group (AAG) with more detailed analysis of high-severity occurrences to UK aircraft carried out by the High Risk Events Analysis Team (THREAT). Five new task forces were created: Airborne and Post-Crash Fire, Airborne Conflict, Runway Overrun or Excursion, Loss of Control and Controlled Flight into Terrain (CFIT). Existing working groups addressed the remaining two safety issues: The Runway Incursions Steering Group (RISG) covered Runway Incursion and Ground Collision, And The Ground Handling Operations Safety Team (GHOST) covered Ramp Incidents. Significant work was already underway or complete for several of the task force subjects. The task forces were explicitly asked not to duplicate work but to identify where any additional safety intervention was required and to endorse, where appropriate, The continuation of existing work streams. A keyfeature of all task forces was the inclusion and active participation of the aviation industry. This paper consolidates the findings and recommendations of the task forces into one document.

Book Practical Human Factors for Pilots

Download or read book Practical Human Factors for Pilots written by Capt. David Moriarty and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2014-12-30 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Practical Human Factors for Pilots bridges the divide between human factors research and one of the key industries that this research is meant to benefit—civil aviation. Human factors are now recognized as being at the core of aviation safety and the training syllabus that flight crew trainees have to follow reflects that. This book will help student pilots pass exams in human performance and limitations, successfully undergo multi-crew cooperation training and crew resource management (CRM) training, and prepare them for assessment in non-technical skills during operator and license proficiency checks in the simulator, and during line checks when operating flights. Each chapter begins with an explanation of the relevant science behind that particular subject, along with mini-case studies that demonstrate its relevance to commercial flight operations. Of particular focus are practical tools and techniques that students can learn in order to improve their performance as well as "training tips" for the instructor. Provides practical, evidence-based guidance on issues often at the root of aircraft accidents Uses international regulatory material Includes concepts and theories that have practical relevance to flight operations Covers relevant topics in a step-by-step manner, describing how they apply to flight operations Demonstrates how human decision-making has been implicated in air accidents and equips the reader with tools to mitigate these risks Gives instructors a reliable knowledge base on which to design and deliver effective training Summarizes the current state of human factors, training, and assessment

Book Aircraft System Safety

Download or read book Aircraft System Safety written by Duane Kritzinger and published by Woodhead Publishing. This book was released on 2016-09-12 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aircraft System Safety: Assessments for Initial Airworthiness Certification presents a practical guide for the novice safety practitioner in the more specific area of assessing aircraft system failures to show compliance to regulations such as FAR25.1302 and 1309. A case study and safety strategy beginning in chapter two shows the reader how to bring safety assessment together in a logical and efficient manner. Written to supplement (not replace) the content of the advisory material to these regulations (e.g. AMC25.1309) as well as the main supporting reference standards (e.g. SAE ARP 4761, RTCA/DO-178, RTCA/DO-154), this book strives to amalgamate all these different documents into a consolidated strategy with simple process maps to aid in their understanding and optimise their efficient use. Covers the effect of design, manufacturing, and maintenance errors and the effects of common component errors Evaluates the malfunctioning of multiple aircraft components and the interaction which various aircraft systems have on the ability of the aircraft to continue safe flight and landing Presents and defines a case study (an aircraft modification program) and a safety strategy in the second chapter, after which each of the following chapters will explore the theory of the technique required and then apply the theory to the case study

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world of aviation has moved on rapidly since the appearance of the ninth edition of this pre-eminent resource fi ve years ago. Those developments pertain to market access and market behaviour by air carriers, including competition, new perceptions of safety and security, among others in relation to transparency of accident investigation and cybersecurity, case law in the area of airline liability, with new cases from the United States, product liability and insurance, the United Kingdom, and elsewhere, the growing importance of environmental concerns, the rights and obligations of passengers, also in the context of ‘unruly’ passengers, and innovative methods for fi nancing aircraft. Special attention has been paid in this edition to regional integration movements, especially in Europe, affecting the mentioned subjects. The book’s extensive references to other sources in the fi eld have been expanded and updated by the author and experts in specialised areas. The present edition addresses the following topics: - the regulatory framework governing the operation of air services including the principle of sovereignty in national airspace; - the distinction between State and civil aircraft; - dispute settlement in international civil aviation; - economic regulation of international air transport services including the establishment of air services agreements; - inter-airline cooperation in the context of competition law regimes; - liability of the various service providers, in particular airlines, and related insurance coverage; - the promotion of safety standards; - criminal acts affecting the safety of aviation; - the role of international and regional organisations with particular reference to that of the European Union; - liability of the aircraft manufacturer for equipment; and - fi nancial and security interests in mobile equipment. The many practitioners, offi cials, business people, and academics with a professional interest in aviation law will appreciate this new edition as one of the fundamental works in the fi eld, and newcomers will discover an incomparable resource. This tenth edition is ready to be of unmatched service to any practising member of the air law community anywhere in the world.
