Book New Aspects of Zirconium Containing Organic Compounds

Download or read book New Aspects of Zirconium Containing Organic Compounds written by Ilan Marek and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-02-18 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Metal carbene complexes have made their way from organometallic curiosities to valuable reagents and catalysts. They offer novel synthetic opportunities in carbon-carbon bond formation based on either carbene-centered reactions or on metal-templated processes which makes them indispensable in modern synthetic methodology. The most prominent metal carbenes are now either commercially available or easy to synthesize and handle with modern laboratory techniques. This volume organized in eight chapters written by the leading scientists in the field illustrates the theoretical background, non-classical nucleophilic and cycloaddition patterns, chromium-templated benzannulation and photo-induced reactions, rhodium-catalyzed carbene transfer as well as the principles and applications of olefin metathesis which has coined the progress in synthetic methodology over the past decade. Designed for researchers in academia and industry as well as graduate students it presents the state-of-the-art potential of carbene complexes in modern organic synthesis.

Book Conducting and Magnetic Organometallic Molecular Materials

Download or read book Conducting and Magnetic Organometallic Molecular Materials written by Marc Fourmigué and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-06-17 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For several years, the two parallel worlds of Molecular Conductors in one hand and Molecular Magnetism in the other have grown side by side, the former essentially based on radical organic molecules, the latter essentially based on the high spin properties of metal complexes. Over the last few years however, organometallic derivatives have started to play an increasingly important role in both worlds, and have in many ways contributed to open several passages between these two worlds. This volume recognizes this important emerging evolution of both research areas. It is not intended to give a comprehensive view of all possible organometallic materials, and polymers for example were not considered here. Rather we present a selection of the most recent research topics where organometallic derivatives were shown to play a crucial role in the setting of conducting and/or magnetic properties in crystalline materials. First, the role of organometallic anions in tet- thiafulvalenium-based molecular conductors is highlighted by Schlueter, while Kubo and Kato describe very recent ortho-metalated chelating ligands appended to the TTF core and their conducting salts. The combination of conducting and magnetic properties and the search for p–d interactions are analyzed in two comp- mentary contributions by Myazaki and Ouahab, while Valade focuses on the only class of metal bis(dithiolene) complexes to give rise to superconductive molecular materials, in association with organic as well as organometallic cations.

Book Organic Synthesis Using Transition Metals

Download or read book Organic Synthesis Using Transition Metals written by Roderick Bates and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-04-30 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Transition metals open up new opportunities for synthesis, because their means of bonding and their reaction mechanisms differ from those of the elements of the s and p blocks. In the last two decades the subject has mushroomed - established reactions are seeing both technical improvements and increasing numbers of applications, and new reactions are being developed. The practicality of the subject is demonstrated by the large number of publications coming from the process development laboratories of pharmaceutical companies, and its importance is underlined by the fact that three Nobel prizes have been awarded for discoveries in this field in the 21st Century already. Organic Synthesis Using Transition Metals, 2nd Edition considers the ways in which transition metals, as catalysts and reagents, can be used in organic synthesis, both for pharmaceutical compounds and for natural products. It concentrates on the bond-forming reactions that set transition metal chemistry apart from "classical" organic chemistry. Each chapter is extensively referenced and provides a convenient point of entry to the research literature. Topics covered include: introduction to transition metals in organic synthesis coupling reactions C-H activation carbonylative coupling reactions alkene and alkyne insertion reactions electrophilic alkene and alkyne complexes reactions of alkyne complexes carbene complexes h3- or p-allyl -allyl complexes diene, dienyl and arene complexes cycloaddition and cycloisomerisation reactions For this second edition the text has been extensively revised and expanded to reflect the significant improvements and advances in the field since the first edition, as well as the large number of new transition metal-catalysed processes that have come to prominence in the last 10 years – for example the extraordinary progress in coupling reactions using “designer” ligands, catalysis using gold complexes, new opportunities arising from metathesis chemistry, and C-H activation – without neglecting the well established chemistry of metals such as palladium. Organic Synthesis Using Transition Metals, 2nd Edition will find a place on the bookshelves of advanced undergraduates and postgraduates working in organic synthesis, catalysis, medicinal chemistry and drug discovery. It is also useful for practising researchers who want to refresh and enhance their knowledge of the field.

Book Rapidly Quenched Metals

Download or read book Rapidly Quenched Metals written by S Steeb and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 1163 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Rapidly Quenched Metals, Volume I covers the proceedings of the Fifth International Conference on Rapidly Quenched Metals, held in Wurzburg, Germany on September 3-7, 1984. The book focuses on amorphous and crystalline metals formed by rapid quenching from the melt. The selection first covers the scope and trends of developments in rapid solidification technology, rapid solidification, and undercooling of liquid metals by rapid quenching. Discussions focus on experimental method, powders, strip, particulate production, consolidation, and alloys and alloy systems. The text then examines the solidification of undercooled liquid alloys entrapped in solid; crystallization kinetics in undercooled droplets; and grain refinement in bulk undercooled alloys. The manuscript tackles the undercooling of niobium-germanium alloys in a 100 meter drop tube; influence of process parameters on the cooling rate of the meltspinning process; and the mechanism of ribbon formation in melt-spun copper and copper-zirconium. The formation and structure of thick sections of rapidly-solidified material by incremental deposition and production of ultrafine dispersions of rare earth oxides in Ti alloys using rapid solidification are also mentioned. The selection is a valuable reference for physicists, chemists, physical metallurgists, and engineers.

Book Organometallic Chemistry

  • Author : M Green
  • Publisher : Royal Society of Chemistry
  • Release : 2007-10-31
  • ISBN : 1847554172
  • Pages : 566 pages

Download or read book Organometallic Chemistry written by M Green and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 2007-10-31 with total page 566 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organometallic chemistry is an interdisciplinary science which continues to grow at a rapid pace. Although there is continued interest in synthetic and structural studies the last decade has seen a growing interest in the potential of organometallic chemistry to provide answers to problems in catalysis synthetic organic chemistry and also in the development of new materials. This Specialist Periodical Report aims to reflect these current interests reviewing progress in theoretical organometallic chemistry, main group chemistry, the lanthanides and all aspects of transition metal chemistry. Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.

Book Origin Evolution Environmental Impact of Oceanic LIPs

Download or read book Origin Evolution Environmental Impact of Oceanic LIPs written by Clive R. Neal and published by Geological Society of America. This book was released on 2015-05 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The origin, evolution, and environmental impact of large igneous provinces (LIPs) represents a topic of high scientific importance because the magmatism associated with these features cannot be directly related to plate tectonics, and because the eruption of flood basalts may have global environmental consequences. Oceanic LIPs are even more poorly understood due to their relative inaccessibility. This volume takes a multidisciplinary approach to understanding LIP origin, evolution, and environmental impact in ocean basins. Papers that focus on plate tectonic reconstructions, petrologic and geophysical investigations of various LIPs, and sedimentological and micropaleontological evidence of syn-LIP sediments are presented. Precious materials and data from dredging cruises and scientific ocean drilling expeditions have made this volume possible.

Book Standardized Guidelines by Building Type

Download or read book Standardized Guidelines by Building Type written by Siegfried Wyner, B.S., M.S., C.E. and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2008-04-22 with total page 413 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The computer revolution over the past 10-15 years in our country has feed to the permanent dependence of all fields of human activity, on computer technology. Based on my experience as a plan examines for all building documentations, I find that is necessary a reform and improvement of the plan examination and approval process, in all boroughs of this big city of N.Y. Because the architects and engineers have the best knowledge of their documentations, I have realized that their help is the most necessary to the real improvement of the verification process. We have to help them in this hypothesis, I considered necessary to create a DATA BASE of guidelines realized for different building types, which will be a computerized flexible tool for all review and approved process, which can be updated all the time in the future, by adding new guidelines to the existing ones, with the new and specific requirements regarding new zoning resolutions, new code articles, new memorandums and criteria’s issued by the city department for the best development of this great city. This was the fundamental idea for the creation a DATA BASE of guidelines, which will help from the beginning of the process of creation of technical documentations, and after, in the long process of verification and approval, for the execution of buildings in the city. Certainly this collection of guidelines proposed in my 2 volumes, does not include all of the possible building types, zoning and code resolutions, but in my opinion and based on my experience is the most important tool in this complex process of approval of new investments. This tool can be used not only by designers of the documentations, but by the expediters, plan examiners, contractors, and finally by the owners of the investments. These two books will be a unified procedure for all the factors which contribute to the realization of investments. I consider to mention and other benefits realized by this written DATA BASE: • A reduced work load in the department of building • A uniform approach for all 5 boroughs in the verification and approval process • A reduction of time for verification and approval • An improvement in the quality of documentations presented for verification and approval • The use of self certification will be increased by the confidence of designers for their documentations • A remarkable reduction of people involved in this complex process • A sensible reduction of the investment costs.
