Book Buster Meets Carlos the Wolf

Download or read book Buster Meets Carlos the Wolf written by Frances J. Smith and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2021-02-09 with total page 25 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Buster wondered what it was like to spend a night in the forest. His friends Shep, the German shepherd, and Rodney, the golden retriever, agreed that they would take him, but they would build a dog hut to sleep in. Buster's other friends, Carbon, the black Labrador, Rocky, the big brown dog, Mr. French, the French poodle, and Mutt-Gomery, a homeless dog, would help build the campfire and bring the necessary dog treats. As they sat around the campfire, his friends saw an opportunity to frighten Buster with an imaginary story about a Wolf, who lives in the forest. So they began to tell their tale. "He is the keeper of the forest, and they say the forest is protected by him," said Carbon. "And he doesn't like dogs. He chases them away," said Rocky. Buster was beginning to think he made a bad decision and didn't want to be there. His friends grew tired of trying to convince Buster of this imaginary animal. So into the hut they went and fell asleep. Buster wakes up and hears a faint howling in the forest. He tries to wake everyone up, but they were sound asleep. Although Buster was afraid, he decides to venture out of the hut to see if this could be the Wolf.

Book Why Did the Policeman Cross the Road

Download or read book Why Did the Policeman Cross the Road written by Stevyn Colgan and published by Unbound Publishing. This book was released on 2016-05-19 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Can lollipops reduce antisocial behaviour? Could wizards prevent street gambling? Do fake bus stops protect pensioners? Can dog shows help reduce murder rates? Stevyn Colgan spent thirty years in the police service—twelve of them as part of the Problem Solving Unit, a special team with an extraordinary brief: to solve problems of crime and disorder that were unresponsive to traditional policing. They could try anything as long as it wasn’t illegal (or immoral), wouldn’t bring the police into disrepute, and didn’t cost very much. The result is this extraordinary collection of innovative and imaginative approaches to crime prevention, showing us that any problem can be solved if we can just identify its underlying roots. In Why Did the Policeman Cross the Road? you’ll learn how bees can prevent elephant stampedes and what tiger farms and sex workers have in common. You’ll read about killer snakes in African cornfields and cholera epidemics in Soho. You’ll come to appreciate the advantages of sticking gum on celebrities’ faces, why the colour of the changing room might decide a football match, and how eating lobsters may help to save their lives. This book is an amusing, insightful and sometimes controversial celebration of good policing and problem solving that reaches beyond law enforcement and into everyday life.

So, how "Dog Smart" are you? What do you know or wish to know about the dog's history, perceptions, understanding of humans, and responses to different training methods? These topics and more come under the scrutiny of the Science Dog in Linda Case's latest myth-busting book. Learn to separate fact from fiction about the relationship between dogs and wolves, whether dominance should be a factor in dog training, what forms of reinforcement work best, and how to apply evidence-based training methods. "Dog Smart" will not only help you to be a better trainer, but will give you the tools for communicating the most current information about dogs to others - including the popular Science Dog character, neighbor Joe (who happens to know a lot about dogs).

Bullied as a boy in the toughest, poorest neighborhood in Brooklyn, Tyson grew up to become one of the most ferocious boxers of all time—and the youngest heavyweight champion ever. But his brilliance in the ring was often compromised by reckless behavior. Yet—even after hitting rock bottom—the man who once admitted being addicted “to everything” fought his way back, achieving triumphant success as an actor and newfound happiness and stability as a father and husband. Brutal, honest, raw, and often hilarious, Undisputed Truth is the singular journey of an inspiring American original.
