Book Simulation Technologies in Networking and Communications

Download or read book Simulation Technologies in Networking and Communications written by Al-Sakib Khan Pathan and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2014-11-06 with total page 652 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simulation is a widely used mechanism for validating the theoretical models of networking and communication systems. Although the claims made based on simulations are considered to be reliable, how reliable they really are is best determined with real-world implementation trials. Simulation Technologies in Networking and Communications: Selecting the Best Tool for the Test addresses the spectrum of issues regarding the different mechanisms related to simulation technologies in networking and communications fields. Focusing on the practice of simulation testing instead of the theory, it presents the work of more than 50 experts from around the world. Considers superefficient Monte Carlo simulations Describes how to simulate and evaluate multicast routing algorithms Covers simulation tools for cloud computing and broadband passive optical networks Reports on recent developments in simulation tools for WSNs Examines modeling and simulation of vehicular networks The book compiles expert perspectives about the simulation of various networking and communications technologies. These experts review and evaluate popular simulation modeling tools and recommend the best tools for your specific tests. They also explain how to determine when theoretical modeling would be preferred over simulation. This book does not provide a verdict on the best suitable tool for simulation. Instead, it supplies authoritative analyses of the different kinds of networks and systems. Presenting best practices and insights from global experts, the book provides you with an understanding of what to simulate, where to simulate, whether to simulate or not, when to simulate, and how to simulate for a wide range of issues.

Book Simulation of Thermal Systems

Download or read book Simulation of Thermal Systems written by W.L. Dutré and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 617 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The events leading up to the publication of this book started effectively in 1976 with the exchange of information between those modelling teams in Europe which were involved in the R&D-programme on Solar Energy of the Commission. When it became clear that the availability of experimental datafor model validation wm next to nothing, the Commission took the initiative to support in the frame of the Solar Energy R&D-programme the construction of Solar Pilot Test Facilities on eight sites in Europe. Each experimental facility consisted of two real solar heating systems with collectors, storage, controls, and msociated piping, but with the dwelling thermal distribution system replaced by a physical load simulator. One of the two systems on each site wm a reference system and wm identical for the eight participating teams. The simulator wm capable of producing a typical themalload for a house, interactive with the actual weather, and took into account the effects of the occupants. With datafrom these facilities not only were national simulation programs validated, but also the meanwhile commonly accepted modular structured European program EMGPl wm validated. EMGPl, which only could be run on a mainframe computer or under special conditions on a mini-computer,formed in tum the bmis for the development of EURSOL andEMGP3.EMGP3 is an improved userjriendly programpackagejorpersonal computers derived jrom EMGPl and includes a unique and user jriendly preprocessor.

This book was released on 2011-10-01 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Technology computer-aided design, or TCAD, is critical to today’s semiconductor technology and anybody working in this industry needs to know something about TCAD. This book is about how to use computer software to manufacture and test virtually semiconductor devices in 3D. It brings to life the topic of semiconductor device physics, with a hands-on, tutorial approach that de-emphasizes abstract physics and equations and emphasizes real practice and extensive illustrations. Coverage includes a comprehensive library of devices, representing the state of the art technology, such as SuperJunction LDMOS, GaN LED devices, etc.

Book Simulation of Water Based Thermal Solar Systems

Download or read book Simulation of Water Based Thermal Solar Systems written by W.L. Dutré and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1991-04-30 with total page 282 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In order to facilitate detailed solar system simulations and to make such simulations readily available to solar engineers in their daily practice of system dimensioning and performance calculations, user friendly software for personal computers has been developed as a system specific simulation program for a frequently installed group of water based solar system types. The program package has been developed as part of the OPSYS R&D-program of the Commission of the European Communities and has been named EURSOL. The set of system configurations considered includes different types of thermal solar systems for space heating and hot water production. The simulations are based on validated physical system models. The program offers complete freedom with regard to all parameters describing the systems and includes on-line help, economic evaluations and graphical output. This book describes the system considered in EURSOL, the mathematical algorithm, the physical model of each component used, the processing of solar radiation data and the economic evaluation criteria. Although the book is mainly a manual for the use of the simulation program, it is also a guide for the development of simplified simulation models for solar systems.

Book Performance Modeling of Operating Systems Using Object Oriented Simulations

Download or read book Performance Modeling of Operating Systems Using Object Oriented Simulations written by José M. Garrido and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2005-11-30 with total page 281 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces the fundamental concepts and practical simulation te- niques for modeling different aspects of operating systems to study their g- eral behavior and their performance. The approaches applied are obje- oriented modeling and process interaction approach to discrete-event simu- tion. The book depends on the basic modeling concepts and is more specialized than my previous book: Practical Process Simulation with Object-Oriented Techniques and C++, published by Artech House, Boston 1999. For a more detailed description see the Web location: http://science.kennesaw.edu/~jgarrido/mybook,html. Most other books on performance modeling use only analytical approaches, and very few apply these concepts to the study of operating systems. Thus, the unique feature of the book is that it concentrates on design aspects of operating systems using practical simulation techniques. In addition, the book illustrates the dynamic behavior of different aspects of operating systems using the various simulation models, with a general hands-on approach.

Book Modeling and Simulation in Manufacturing and Defense Acquisition

Download or read book Modeling and Simulation in Manufacturing and Defense Acquisition written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2002-08-01 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Committee on Modeling and Simulation Enhancements for 21st Century Manufacturing and Acquisition was formed by the NRC in response to a request from the Defense Modeling and Simulation Office (DMSO) of DOD. The committee was asked to (1) investigate next-generation evolutionary and revolutionary M&S capabilities that will support enhanced defense systems acquisition; (2) identify specific emerging design, testing, and manufacturing process technologies that can be enabled by advanced M&S capabilities; (3) relate these emerging technologies to long-term DOD requirements; (4) assess ongoing efforts to develop advanced M&S capabilities and identify gaps that must be filled to make the emerging technologies a reality; (5) identify lessons learned from industry; and (6) recommend specific government actions to expedite development and to enable maximum DOD and U.S. commercial benefit from these capabilities. To complete its task, the committee identified relevant trends and their impact on defense acquisition needs; current use and support for use of M&S within DOD; lessons learned from commercial manufacturing; three cross-cutting and especially challenging uses of M&S technologies; and the areas in which basic research is needed in M&S in order to achieve the desired goals for manufacturing and defense acquisition.
