Book Alaska Bush Cop

Download or read book Alaska Bush Cop written by Andy Anderson and published by Publication Consultants. This book was released on 2019-11-01 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I served as chief of police in the Alaska bush community of Seldovia for nearly 32 years. Alaska Bush Cop is the first of four books describing what actually took place during those years. When I took the chief's position, I had no training, and in this book, you'll find what I endured while learning how to be a police officer. I write about mistakes made and their repercussions. The events in Alaska Bush Cop did take place and are depicted the way they actually occurred. I think you will find it surprising when you read about many of the cases I write about. Many people feel a police officer in a small community has very little, or noting, to do. In reality, I kept busy in this one, and at times, two-man police department. I hope you find Alaska Bush Cop informative, enlightening, and entertaining.

Book Alaska Bush Cop 2

Download or read book Alaska Bush Cop 2 written by Andy Anderson and published by Publication Consultants. This book was released on 2020-09-01 with total page 235 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alaska Bush Cop: And the Beat Goes On is the second of a four-book series, outlining my nearly 32-year career as police chief of a small Alaska bush community. I was hired off the street, with no previous experience, and was asked to single-handedly police a community of nearly 800 people. The position turned into a career of nearly 32 years, setting a record for the longest serving chief of police in Alaska history. In my first book, Alaska Bush Cop: The Beginning, I took you through my first few years of learning be a cop. I outlined many of the stumbling blocks which accompanied me, and I acquainted you with the many police officers and dispatchers, who played a vital role in my being successful. You will be surprised by the number of different criminal activities, which took place in our small community. All the stories in Alaska Bush Cop are factual, and they took place in and around, Seldovia, Alaska.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the story of one man's service in the British South Africa Police of Rhodesia during his service of nearly fifteen years, between the years 1965 and 1979, and in many ways forms a sequel to the author's book Mad Dog Killers. The struggle to keep Rhodesia out of black nationalist hands started in late 1964 and ended with the Mugabe regime in 1982. It is also a story of a policeman engaged in that war as a member of the paramilitary BSAP Support unit, the Police Anti-Terrorist Unit and as an ordinary member of the force that had always been designated the country's first line of defense. Most of the service was on remote rural district stations, often in the middle of the "front line". The account tells of one man's learning to be a policeman and a police public prosecutor and about the eccentricities of some of the circuit magistrates. A policeman has a lot to learn about life, and in the BSA Police he was expected to jump in at the deep end from the start. It is also the story of the strange struggle by Rhodesian-born policemen in a force where the majority were English-born, at a time when Rhodesia was in rebellion against Britain. The author's senior officers, though fiercely loyal to the force, were British and required to join the rebellion. It tells of his resentment at the lack of drive by senior officers in the fight against terrorist atrocities. There is additional insight into the Utopian life in Rhodesia, especially in rural areas, when it was still possible to hunt buck for the police mess rations, where there was no electricity or other modern amenities and where the single quarters were in ancient buildings enclosed by a wraparound gauzed-in veranda - a life gone now forever. It is also a story of a young man who grew up in Salisbury, his sexual excesses and sadness. The British Queen Mother was patron of the force all her life and was very proud of her association with it.

Book Rise of the Warrior Cop

Download or read book Rise of the Warrior Cop written by Radley Balko and published by PublicAffairs. This book was released on 2021-06-01 with total page 497 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This groundbreaking history of how American police forces have been militarized is now revised and updated. Newly added material brings the story through 2020, including analysis of the Ferguson protests, the Obama and Trump administrations, and the George Floyd protests. The last days of colonialism taught America’s revolutionaries that soldiers in the streets bring conflict and tyranny. As a result, our country has generally worked to keep the military out of law enforcement. But over the last two centuries, America’s cops have increasingly come to resemble ground troops. The consequences have been dire: the home is no longer a place of sanctuary, the Fourth Amendment has been gutted, and police today have been conditioned to see the citizens they serve as enemies. In Rise of the Warrior Cop, Balko shows how politicians’ ill-considered policies and relentless declarations of war against vague enemies like crime, drugs, and terror have blurred the distinction between cop and soldier. His fascinating, frightening narrative that spans from America’s earliest days through today shows how a creeping battlefield mentality has isolated and alienated American police officers and put them on a collision course with the values of a free society.

It is now updated with new and important information on the right of the police to search your car; on guns, knives, and self-defense; and on changes in surveillance methods. Dale C. Carson was an FBI field agent, a SWAT sniper, an instructor at the FBI academy, and a Miami police officer who set Florida records for felony arrests. He is currently a criminal defense attorney. Book Notorious C O P

Download or read book Notorious C O P written by Derrick Parker and published by St. Martin's Press. This book was released on 2007-04-01 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Throughout his career, Derrick Parker worked on some of the biggest criminal cases in rap history, from the shooting at Club New York, where Derrick personally escorted Jennifer Lopez to police headquarters, to the first shooting of Tupac Shakur. Always straddling the fence between "po-po" and NYPD outsider, Derrick threatened police tradition to try to get the cases solved. He was the first detective to interview an informant offering a detailed account of Biggie Smalls's murder. He protected one of the only surviving eyewitnesses to the Jam Master Jay murder and knows the identity of the killers as well as the motivation behind the shooting. Notorious C.O.P. reveals hip-hop crimes that never made the paper—like the robbing of Foxy Brown and the first Hot 97 shooting—and answers some lingering questions about murders that have remained unsolved. The book that both the NYPD and the hip-hop community don't want you to read, Notorious C.O.P. is the first insider look at the real links between crime and hip-hop and the inefficiencies that have left some of the most widely publicized murders in entertainment history unsolved.
