This book was released on 2021-05-28 with total page 562 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When it comes to architecture, there has been a focus on sustainable buildings and human well-being in the built environment. Buildings should not only be environmentally friendly and sustainable, but dually focused on human health, wellness, and experience. This includes considerations into the quality of buildings, ranging from ventilation to thermal comfort, along with environment considerations such as energy usage and material selection. Specific architectural choices and design for buildings can either contribute to or negatively impact both society and the environment, leading research in the field of architecture to be focused on environmental and societal well-being in accordance with the built environment. The Research Anthology on Environmental and Societal Well-Being Considerations in Buildings and Architecture focuses on how the built environment is being constructed to purposefully enhance societal well-being while also maintaining green standards for environmental sustainability. On one side, this book focuses on the specific building choices that can be made for the purpose of human well-being and the occupants who will utilize the building. On the other side, this book also focuses on environmental sustainability from the standpoint of green buildings and environmental concerns. Book Malay House and Its Woodcarving

Download or read book Malay House and Its Woodcarving written by Hazman Hazumi and published by . This book was released on 2013 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of the Malay house and its woodcarving looks for the governing factors responsiblefor the aesthetic characteristics of the Malay traditional architecture and arts. It views the Malay traditional house and woodcarving as important cultural heritage belong to the traditional Malay society that must be preserved. By conducting a fieldwork in various states in the Malay Peninsula, as well as nearby regions, a catalogue of visual documentation and archival data were accumulated over the course of the study. These data served as the primary data from which distinguished visual characteristics of the Malay house and woodcarving were extracted. The fieldwork was followed by a series of detailed analytical studies on the underlying geometrical principles of the traditional Malay house structures and woodcarving panels. By employhing both geometric and arithmetic proportional analyses on selected samples of the Malay house and woodcarving, the study revealed the existence of an integrated underlying principle govering the form, structure and composition of both the house and woodcarving panels. The results of the analyses provided conclusive evidence that the Malay traditional house adhered to the principles of dynamic geometries, which governed iits overall form, scale and commensurability between the house and its architectural elements. Based on this finding, the study embarked on a hands-on project in the form of the design and construction of a contemporary house employing principles based on the design wisdom of the traditional Malay house. The outcome of the project suggests that reviving the principles of the Malay traditional house is possible and can be beneficial for future generations.

Download or read book The Assessment of Material Application Through Timber Traditional Malay House Construction written by Priscilla Serimah Bundan and published by . This book was released on 2011 with total page 56 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper, the construction of the traditional house has been influenced by the iterative adoptions to local conditions such as religion, climate and materials. Within the Peninsular of Malaysia, there exist three distinct regions - northern, central and eastern, in which the traditional differs in styles. In east Malaysia, the traditional houses are different since the communities there lives in one house that shared by more than one family. However, since the regions are subjected to almost similar local conditions, it is therefore not surprising to find the similarity of shape in most of these houses. This paper attempts to study the material application and construction through timber. There is much type of timber used in construction of traditional houses and the way it is build is most unique. Most of the material used is readily available local material such as timber, bamboo and many more. The study was conducted in Paloh Hinai, Pahang, Seremban, Negeri Sembilan and Miri Sarawak. And the study was carried out through case study and interviews. Then the data analysis was carried out.
