This book was released on 2022-12-08 with total page 38 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This How to Note develops the “green public financial management (PFM)” framework briefly outlined in an earlier Staff Climate Note (2021/002, published in August 2021). It illustrates, how climate change and environmental concerns can be mainstreamed into government’s institutional arrangements in place to facilitate the implementation of fiscal policies. It provides numerous country examples covering possible entry points for green PFM – phases in the budget cycle (strategic planning and fiscal framework, budget preparation, budget execution and accounting, control, and audit), legal framework or issues that cut across the budget cycle, such as fiscal transparency or coordination with State Owned Enterprises or with subnational governments. This How to Note also summarizes practical guidance for implementation of a green PFM strategy, underscoring the need for a tailored approach adapted to country specificities and for a strong stewardship role of the Ministry of Finance.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: For centuries, there have been legends of Vampires—the fault of one careless Dragon. But humans only know part of the story. Walking amongst us are Dragons—Shape-shifters who feed on blood. Jonah has hunted Athena for months. Waiting. Planning. Dreaming. Now finally—finally—it’s time to claim her. No more running. No more waiting. She’s his. But Athena isn’t having any of this “I’m a Dragon and your life’s in danger” business. She plans to fight him every step of the way. Dragons are mythical creatures, and she certainly isn’t mating one of those flying, scaly, blood-sucking creatures. Okay, so Jonah’s not scaly most of the time, and he’s super-hot, but that doesn’t mean she wants to spend eternity with him. Trouble is: she can’t stop wanting him. Neither Jonah the Dragon nor her burning desire for him are mythical. Apparently, the same is true of the age-old battle with the Dragon enemies. And if he doesn’t make her see reason quickly, they both might perish.

Download or read book Ascending the Fourteener of Recovery written by KC Tillman and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2022-09-15 with total page 260 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mother and daughter, KC and Bryn detail their two-year battle with the eating disorder anorexia nervosa. Ascending the Fourteener of Recovery was written to offer hope and inspiration to others embarking on their own arduous, ever-changing path to healing. As the mother-daughter duo lead others through their descent into the hellacious trenches of a mental disorder with the highest mortality rates, KC reveals how she stopped at nothing to find help and save her daughter’s life. Bryn discloses how the power of her mind first guided her into the darkness of an unhealthy relationship with food, and then led her out into the light of recovery thanks, in part, to FBT (Family Based Treatment). When KC Tillman gave birth in 2000, she never imagined that her precious bundle of joy would become embroiled in a fight for her life just sixteen years later. She shares the difficulties of parenting a teen with a stigmatized mental illness. Bryn Tillman grew up setting impossibly high expectations for herself that produced feelings of inadequacy, imperfection, and failure. She mistakenly believed that everyone else also hated their reflection in the mirror and constantly strived to be a better physical being like she did. Little did Bryn know how wrong she was. Ascending the Fourteener of Recovery is the moving story of a teenager’s battle with anorexia and her mother’s tenacity in beating it while holding on tightly to hope.

Download or read book 168 Hours written by Laura Vanderkam and published by Penguin. This book was released on 2011-05-31 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It's an unquestioned truth of modern life: we are starved for time. We tell ourselves we'd like to read more, get to the gym regularly, try new hobbies, and accomplish all kinds of goals. But then we give up because there just aren't enough hours to do it all. Or if we don't make excuses, we make sacrifices- taking time out from other things in order to fit it all in. There has to be a better way...and Laura Vanderkam has found one. After interviewing dozens of successful, happy people, she realized that they allocate their time differently than most of us. Instead of letting the daily grind crowd out the important stuff, they start by making sure there's time for the important stuff. When plans go wrong and they run out of time, only their lesser priorities suffer. Vanderkam shows that with a little examination and prioritizing, you'll find it is possible to sleep eight hours a night, exercise five days a week, take piano lessons, and write a novel without giving up quality time for work, family, and other things that really matter.

Download or read book The Committed written by Viet Thanh Nguyen and published by Grove Press. This book was released on 2021-03-02 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The long-awaited follow-up to the Pulitzer Prize-winning The Sympathizer, which has sold more than one million copies worldwide, The Committed follows the man of two minds as he arrives in Paris in the early 1980s with his blood brother Bon. The pair try to overcome their pasts and ensure their futures by engaging in capitalism in one of its purest forms: drug dealing. Traumatized by his reeducation at the hands of his former best friend, Man, and struggling to assimilate into French culture, the Sympathizer finds Paris both seductive and disturbing. As he falls in with a group of left-wing intellectuals whom he meets at dinner parties given by his French Vietnamese “aunt,” he finds stimulation for his mind but also customers for his narcotic merchandise. But the new life he is making has perils he has not foreseen, whether the self-torture of addiction, the authoritarianism of a state locked in a colonial mindset, or the seeming paradox of how to reunite his two closest friends whose worldviews put them in absolute opposition. The Sympathizer will need all his wits, resourcefulness, and moral flexibility if he is to prevail. Both highly suspenseful and existential, The Committed is a blistering portrayal of commitment and betrayal that will cement Viet Thanh Nguyen’s position in the firmament of American letters.
Download or read book Climate Sensitive Management of Public Finances Green PFM written by Mr. Fabien Gonguet and published by International Monetary Fund. This book was released on 2021-08-11 with total page 21 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Public financial management (PFM) consists of all the government’s institutional arrangements in place to facilitate the implementation of fiscal policies. In response to the growing urgency to fight climate change, “green PFM” aims at adapting existing PFM practices to support climate-sensitive policies. With the cross-cutting nature of climate change and wider environmental concerns, green PFM can be a key enabler of an integrated government strategy to combat climate change. This note outlines a framework for green PFM, emphasizing the need for an approach combining various entry points within, across, and beyond the budget cycle. This includes components such as fiscal transparency and external oversight, and coordination with state-owned enterprises and subnational governments. The note also identifies principles for effective implementation of a green PFM strategy, among which the need for a strong stewardship located within the ministry of finance is paramount.
