Download or read book Winning Ways through Corporate Governance written by Neville Bain and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-07-27 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The motivation for writing this book is the authors' deeply held conviction that good governance is an essential element for any organisation that wishes to maximise its effectiveness. They are not alone in observing that in many cases companies or other organisations that perform badly are often poorly governed. Indeed, the key explanation for poor performance is often poor governance. This observation is not limited geographically and there are many examples from around the world. Concern with good governance is not just limited to the free enterprise system. It is universal.

Download or read book Edi Hila written by Éric de Chassey and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Hila was born in Shkodra in 1944, and lives and works in Tirana. During his studies in the 1960s he experimented timidly with deformation. In 1972 he painted "Planting of Trees", a pleasant picture rendered slightly unreal through the use of color, which because of its departure from the approved socialist realist doctrine, soon became a pretext for ordering him to work in a poultry processing plant, where his main task was hauling sacks. In the evenings he secretly created a series of drawings documenting the life of the workers (the "Poultry" series, 1975-76), harrowing in their raw realism. In the 1990s, seeking a path back to painting, Hila carefully observed life evolving after the fall of Enver Hoxha's regime and tried to depict the realities of the Albanian transformation. In Hila's view the Eastern European experience is stripped of accident or adventure typical of many presentations of this time, giving it instead the weight of distilled general truths, as if he were its final chronicler. An influential teacher, Edi Hila was formerly professor at the Tirana Academy of Fine Arts where he taught the well-regarded contemporary artists Anri Sala and Adrian Paci, as well the artist, writer, politician, and current Prime Minister of Albania, Edi Rama."--Site Web du musée

Download or read book UAT Defined written by Rob Cimperman and published by Pearson Education. This book was released on 2006-11-28 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is the eBook version of the printed book. This digtial Short Cut provides a concise and supremely useful guide to the emerging trend of User Acceptance Testing (UAT). The ultimate goal of UAT is to validate that a system of products is of sufficient quality to be accepted by the users and, ultimately, the sponsors. This Short Cut is unique in that it views UAT through the concept that the user should be represented in every step of the software delivery lifecycle--including requirements, designs, testing, and maintenance--so that the user community is prepared, and even eager, to accept the software once it is completed. Rob Cimperman offers an informal explanation of testing, software development, and project management to equip business testers with both theory and practical examples, without the overwhelming details often associated with books written for "professional" testers. Rather than simply explaining what to do, this resource is the only one that explains why and how to do it by addressing this market segment in simple, actionable language. Throughout the author’s considerable experience coordinating UAT and guiding business testers, he has learned precisely what testers do and do not intuitively understand about the software development process. UAT Defined informs the reader about the unfamiliar political landscape they will encounter. Giving the UAT team the tools they need to comprehend the process on their own saves the IT staff from having to explain test management from the beginning. The result is a practice that increases productivity and eliminates the costs associated with unnecessary mistakes, tedious rework, and avoidable delays. Chapter 1 Introduction Chapter 2 Defining UAT–What It Is...and What It Is Not Chapter 3 Test Planning–Setting the Stage for UAT Success Chapter 4 Building the Team–Transforming Users into Testers Chapter 5 Executing UAT–Tracking and Reporting Chapter 6 Mitigating Risk–Your Primary Responsibility

Download or read book Sara s Children and the Destruction of Chmielnik written by Suzan E. Hagstrom and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Full of love, joy and hope, Nathan Garfinkel's wedding portrait captures one of life's turning points. The occasion, however, was more momentous than any one could ever imagine. Only six years before Nathan and his sisters, who surround him in the photograph, were reduced to living skeletons, victims of anti-Semitism that raged out of control during World War II. Nazi Germany and its sympathizers brutally murdered more than six million Jews across Europe, wiping out entire families and, in some cases, villages. Through sheer luck and by helping each other, the Garfinkels overcame seemingly insurmountable odds to evade death. Sara's Children records how the five siblings survived slave labor, starvation, beatings, typhus, exposure and fatigue. The starkly-written narrative relies heavily on the Garfinkels' own words and interviews with other survivors from their hometown of Chmielnik, Poland. The non-fiction work begins with what they lost: loving parents, an extended family, loyal friends and a simple, but vibrant, lifestyle. Nonetheless, disturbing signs of anti-Semitism marred their happy childhoods. Violence and hatred escalate as Germany razes Poland and sweeps Europe. Each chapter explodes with descriptions of the Garfinkels terrible ordeal. Heartbreaking testimonials from other Holocaust survivors, maps, photographs from the late 1940s, and written records culled from Germany reinforce and verify their account. Sara's Children is one family's saga of instinct victory over and triumph amid destruction.
