Book Boys Book of Border Battles Classic Reprint

Download or read book Boys Book of Border Battles Classic Reprint written by Edwin L. Sabin and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-10 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Boys Book of Border Battles In the United States of North America there have been several great battle-fields, each much larger than the battle-field of France. The first was that of the Ohio River country - the Valley of the Beautiful River which drains Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, West Virginia, and western Pennsylvania. Another, yet larger, was that of the plains and mountains West, extending from Mexico to Canada, and from the Mississippi to the Rockies. In the Ohio Valley the Shawnees, the Miamis, the War Delawares, the Mingo Iroquois, the Wyandots fought hard to keep the white man out. In the Far West and Southwest the Blackfeet, the Sioux, the Cheyennes, the Kiowas, the Comanches and the Apaches fought equally hard for the same purpose. Boys' Book of Indian Warriors and Boys' Book of Frontier Fighters have told of these and other combats when the red Americans tried to stand off the white Americans. But both battle-fields saw wars of white and white as well as wars of white and red. In the Ohio Valley the American colonists helped their mother country, England, against the French - and the French lost that region. And in the Southwest the United States fought Mexico. Boys' Book of Border Battles is therefore white and red. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 1967, the North Vietnamese launched a series of offensives in the Central Highlands along the border with South Vietnam--a strategic move intended to draw U.S. and South Vietnamese forces away from major cities before the Tet Offensive. A series of bloody engagements known as "the border battles" followed, with the principle action taking place at Dak To. Book Boys Book of Frontier Fighters Classic Reprint

Download or read book Boys Book of Frontier Fighters Classic Reprint written by Edwin L. Sabin and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-12-23 with total page 388 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Boys' Book of Frontier Fighters These are stories Of bravery and Of pluck amidst great Odds. In many of the stories victory was won by the aid of powder, ball and steel, used manfully. In others it was won by sheer nerve and wit alone - for a good fighter fights with his heart and head as fully as with his hands. Americans have always been great fighters, when called upon to fight in self-defense. They never quit until they are killed or triumphant; and although many may be killed, those they leave press forward again. In France the Americans never gave up an inch. We Americans of to-day, looking back, may be proud not only of the part played by our blood in the World War, but likewise Of the part it played in the days when, rifle in hand, we were hewing the peace trail in our own country.
