Book Intergranular Boron Segregation and Grain Boundary Character in Alloy 304 Austenitic Stainless Steel

Download or read book Intergranular Boron Segregation and Grain Boundary Character in Alloy 304 Austenitic Stainless Steel written by Michael Kurban and published by . This book was released on 2001 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Secondary ion mass spectrometry (SIMS) and orientation imaging microscopy (OIM) were used to study the relationship between boron segregation susceptibility at grain boundaries and grain boundary structure in Alloy 304 austenitic stainless steel containing boron as a trace solute impurity. Boron segregation was detected at grain boundaries in materials heat treated at 1000 and 1100°C and both boron segregation and carbide precipitation were detected at grain boundaries in materials heat treated at 800°C. Coherent 3 twin boundaries displayed high resistance to both boron segregation and carbide precipitation. 1 (low-angle) boundaries displayed some resistance to boron segregation and high resistance to carbide precipitation. 9 boundaries satisfying the Palumbo-Aust criterion displayed some resistance to both boron segregation and carbide precipitation. Other low- boundaries and general boundaries ( > 29) displayed low resistance to both boron segregation and carbide precipitation.

Book Effect Of Work Hardening On Sensitization Of Austenitic Ss

Download or read book Effect Of Work Hardening On Sensitization Of Austenitic Ss written by Partha Pratim Dey and published by LAP Lambert Academic Publishing. This book was released on 2013-01 with total page 224 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The main objective of the work is to present the entire scope of sensitization of stainless steel pertaining to environmental effect. The work starts with a continuum description of stainless steel, extends this background to the types of attack in stainless steel and then considers the major practical analysis of the topic conforming to the laboratory testing. The entire procedure of the testing has been pursued based on Standard practices for detecting susceptibility to Intergranular attack in austenitic stainless steels - ASTM A262 - 02A. All of the experiments has been done in the laboratory & workshops of Metallurgical Enginering of Bengal Engineering & Science University, Shibpur. Nos of research topics related to the corrosion investigation of S.S, have been studied thoroughly and taken the guidance of the achievers triumph.

Book The Effect of Boron Copper and Molybdenum Residuals on the Corrosion Resistance of Type 304 Stainless Steel

Download or read book The Effect of Boron Copper and Molybdenum Residuals on the Corrosion Resistance of Type 304 Stainless Steel written by G. Aggen and published by . This book was released on 1989 with total page 16 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Systematic variations in the chromium, nickel, copper, molybdenum, and boron and B contents of American Iron and Steel Institute (AISI) Type 304 stainless steel (UNS S30400) were evaluated by electrochemical and immersion corrosion tests in oxidizing, reducing, and chloride solutions. In one series of tests, the chromium and nickel alloy contents were maintained within the flat rolled product tolerance range (17.8 to 18.0 wt% chromium, 7.8 to 8.0 wt% nickel) while the copper and molybdenum alloy contents were increased from a residual level (
