Download or read book Chosen by God written by R. C. Sproul and published by Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.. This book was released on 2011-02-18 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nearly 200,000 copies sold! Chosen by God by Dr. R. C. Sproul is a contemporary classic on predestination, a doctrine that isn’t just for Calvinists. It is a doctrine for all biblical Christians. In this updated and expanded edition of Chosen by God, Sproul shows that the doctrine of predestination doesn’t create a whimsical or spiteful picture of God, but rather paints a portrait of a loving God who provides redemption for radically corrupt humans. We choose God because he has opened our eyes to see his beauty; we love him because he first loved us. There is mystery in God’s ways, but not contradiction.

Book The New Chosen People

Download or read book The New Chosen People written by Guillermina Jasso and published by Russell Sage Foundation. This book was released on 1990-11-29 with total page 497 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Stories of immigrant success have traditionally illustrated the basic principles of political and economic freedom in the United States. In reality, the presence and achievements of the foreign-born are the complex result of attitudes, choices, and decisions, not only of the immigrants themselves but also of the U.S. government and its native-born citizens. Based on census data and government administrative records, The New Chosen People presents a comprehensive picture of this interaction as the authors examine immigrant behavior in the United States. Jasso and Rosenzweig trace the factors that influence the immigrants' adjustment and achievements in a broad area of concerns—learning English, finding work and earning a living, and raising a family. The authors devote special attention to family relationships—kinship migration, family reunification, and the marriage market—and to the factors determining where immigrants choose to settle. Jasso and Rosenzweig also consider the situation of the largest recent groups of refugees—Cubans and Indochinese—who have entered the U.S. under very different rules than those governing the selection of immigrants from other countries. They also look at how the foreign-born population has changed over time, drawing comparisons between post-1960 immigrants and those of 1900 through 1910. For all foreign-born, the authors discuss the factors that influence decisions to naturalize and the economic and social consequences of achieving legal status. Jasso and Rosenzweig also detail the policy choices that affect the composition of the foreign-born population. What criteria determine who is eligible to enter the country? How do these regulations differ for each country of origin, and how have they changed over the years? The New Chosen People emphasizes the determining influence of choice and selection on the foreign-born population of the United States. For policymakers and social scientists, the book provides a valuable assessment of the economic and social well-being of the nation and its newcomers. A Volume in the Russell Sage Foundation Census Series

Book excerpt: Roman couldn’t seem to get a grip or stay focused – she intruded into his mind and body as if she owned him. He still couldn’t figure out how it might be possible for a human…an exquisitely, beautiful female with the most astonishing violet eyes - his Bellezza… And, he was gone again – images of Vivian taking over while trashing his train of thought. A long sleek European car sped to the curb in front of the club across the street from Vivian Monaco's second floor apartment. As a professional researcher, the matte black car riveted Vivian – a hand-built Svengali HyperChrome. She’d only ever seen pictures and knew very few were hand crafted. Yet, it wasn't the gorgeous car that her attention locked onto as the pulse at her temple jumped rapidly and her heart pounded furiously. It was the impossibly tall, darkly handsome guy climbing out of the HyperChrome. His black hair caught the streetlight and shone deep navy. Heart fluttering in her throat, Vivian felt like she was smothering. Overcome by the craziest urge to dash downstairs - in her oldest flannel nightie – Vivian needed to run her hands through his thick black hair and, then kiss him silly. Intent on doing just that - Vivian couldn't believe her feet were carrying her directly to the front door - with no will of her own. #alovestory #RuleroftheVamps #vampireromance
