Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: • Was Adam the first test-tube baby? • Did nuclear fission destroy Sodom and Gomorrah? • How were the ancients able to accurately describe details about our solar system that are only now being revealed by deep space probes? The awesome answers are all here, in this important companion volume to The Earth Chronicles series. Having presented evidence of an additional planet as well as voluminous information about the other planets in our solar system, Zecharia Sitchin now shows how the discoveries of modern astrophysics, astronomy, and genetics exactly parallel what has already been revealed in ancient texts regarding the "mysteries" of alchemy and the creation of life. Genesis Revisited is a mind-boggling revelation sure to overturn current theories about the origins of humankind and the solar system.

Download or read book Genesis Survey Understanding the First Book of the Bible written by Edwin Walhout and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2016-04-02 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Does this view of Genesis violate the doctrine of revelation, inspiration, and authority of the scriptures? Indeed not. Surely God could, and did, inspire the unknown persons who wrote and compiled Genesis to write as they did, using whatever sources were at hand. The authority of Biblical versions of ancient legends is not diminished by having been adapted from pre-existing documents of the world from which Abraham came. We may believe that God was in control of the process by which these documents were transmitted, as well as of the modifications made to these ancient documents in the Hebrew accounts. There is no reason to think that the resulting documents which we now have are any less important and authoritative than if they had been provided by God by direct insertion into the minds of the authors. We may have confidence that the final result of the editorial process by which the Bible came to be written is precisely what God wanted it to be.

Download or read book Bodies Embodiment and Theology of the Hebrew Bible written by S. Tamar Kamionkowski and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2010-05-20 with total page 261 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recognizing that human experience is very much influenced by inhabiting bodies, the past decade has seen a surge in studies about representation of bodies in religious experience and human imaginations regarding the Divine. The understanding of embodiment as central to human experience has made a big impact within religious studies particularly in contemporary Christian theology, feminist, cultural and ideological criticism and anthropological approaches to the Hebrew Bible. Within the sub-field of theology of the Hebrew Bible, the conversation is still dominated by assumptions that the God of the Hebrew Bible does not have a body and that embodiment of the divine is a new concept introduced outside of the Hebrew Bible. To a great extent, the insights regarding how body discourse can communicate information have not yet been incorporated into theological studies.
Download or read book Ministry After Freud written by Allison Stokes and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2020-07-31 with total page 265 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ministry After Freud tells the fascinating story of the impact of Freud's depth psychological discoveries on the practice of American Protestant ministry. It focuses on the lives and work of leaders such as Elwood Worcester, Anton Boisen, Flanders Dunhar, Smiley Blanton, Norman Vincent Peale, Seward Hiltner, and Paul Tillich, who were pioneers in the Religion and Health Movement, which brought together religion and psychology in healing ministry, and greatly influenced the practice of pastoral care and counseling. Never before chronicled and described, this Movement paralleled the Social Gospel Movement. The book also tells the story for the first time of the New York Psychology Group, which met on Manhattan in the early 1940s. Members of this exclusive group—including Paul Tillich, Seward Hiltner, Erich Fromm, Rollo May, David Roberts, Gotthard Booth, Violet De Laszlo—shared ideas about the bearing of psychology on religion, ideas that later deeply influenced American intellectual and religious life through the articles and books these people wrote. The author identifies religion and health as a movement in theological liberalism, which historically seeks to interpret the gospel for each generation.
