Book ON THE FLEXURAL BEHAVIOR OF CONCRETE BEAMS PRESTRESSED WITH UNBONDED INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL TENDONS UNBONDED TENDONS BEAMS

Download or read book ON THE FLEXURAL BEHAVIOR OF CONCRETE BEAMS PRESTRESSED WITH UNBONDED INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL TENDONS UNBONDED TENDONS BEAMS written by FADI MAAZ ALKHAIRI and published by . This book was released on 1991 with total page 916 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: from 15 different investigations. Excellent correlation was obtained between predicted vs. experimental results. The present investigation suggests that shear deformations may have some effect on the stress increase in unbonded tendons for beams having low span-to-depth ratios, while eccentricity variations in external tendons significantly affect the overall behavior for beams having high span-to-depth ratios.

Book Analysis and Design of Prestressed Concrete

Download or read book Analysis and Design of Prestressed Concrete written by Di Hu and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2022-04-17 with total page 462 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prestressing concrete technology is critical to understanding problems in existing civic structures including railway and highway bridges; to the rehabilitation of older structures; and to the design of new high-speed railway and long-span highway bridges. Analysis and Design of Prestressed Concrete delivers foundational concepts, and the latest research and design methods for the engineering of prestressed concrete, paying particular attention to crack resistance in the design of high-speed railway and long-span highway prestressed concrete bridges. The volume offers readers a comprehensive resource on prestressing technology and applications, as well as the advanced treatment of prestress losses and performance. Key aspects of this volume include analysis and design of prestressed concrete structures using a prestressing knowledge system, from initial stages to service; detailed loss calculation; time-dependent analysis on cross-sectional stresses; straightforward, simplified methods specified in codes; and in-depth calculation methods. Sixteen chapters combine standards and current research, theoretical analysis, and design methods into a practical resource on the analysis and design of prestressed concrete, as well as presenting novel calculation methods and theoretical models of practical use to engineers. - Presents a new approach to calculating prestress losses due to anchorage seating - Provides a unified method for calculating long-term prestress loss - Details cross-sectional stress analysis of prestressed concrete beams from jacking to service - Explains a new calculation method for long-term deflection of beams caused by creep and shrinkage - Gives a new theoretical model for calculating long-term crack width

Book Flexural Behavior of Prestressed Concrete Composite Tee beams

Download or read book Flexural Behavior of Prestressed Concrete Composite Tee beams written by James Bryson and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prestressed Tee-beams constructed by the split-beam method were tested to failure in flexure to study the behavior and ultimate strength of these beams and to compare their flexural characteristics with those of prestressed beams of conventional construction. Results showed that composite split-beams behaved similarly to the monolithically constructed beams on the basis of flexural response and ultimate load.

Book FRP Composites for Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete Structures

Download or read book FRP Composites for Reinforced and Prestressed Concrete Structures written by Perumalsamy Balaguru and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2008-11-05 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: High strength fibre composites (FRPs) have been used with civil structures since the 1980s, mostly in the repair, strengthening and retrofitting of concrete structures. This has attracted considerable research, and the industry has expanded exponentially in the last decade. Design guidelines have been developed by professional organizations in a number of countries including USA, Japan, Europe and China, but until now designers have had no publication which provides practical guidance or accessible coverage of the fundamentals. This book fills this void. It deals with the fundamentals of composites, and basic design principles, and provides step-by-step guidelines for design. Its main theme is the repair and retrofit of un-reinforced, reinforced and prestressed concrete structures using carbon, glass and other high strength fibre composites. In the case of beams, the focus is on their strengthening for flexure and shear or their stiffening. The main interest with columns is the improvement of their ductility; and both strengthening and ductility improvement of un-reinforced structures are covered. Methods for evaluating the strengthened structures are presented. Step by step procedures are set out, including flow charts, for the various structural components, and design examples and practice problems are used to illustrate. As infrastructure ages worldwide, and its demolition and replacement becomes less of an option, the need for repair and retrofit of existing facilities will increase. Besides its audience of design professionals, this book suits graduate and advanced undergraduate students.

Book Mechanics of Geomaterial Interfaces

Download or read book Mechanics of Geomaterial Interfaces written by A.P.S. Selvadurai and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1995-01-30 with total page 569 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The subject of geomaterial interfaces recognizes the important influences of the interface behaviour on the performance of interfaces involving cementaceous materials such as concrete and steel, ice-structure interfaces, concrete-rock interfaces and interfaces encountered in soil reinforcement. During the past two decades, the subject of geomaterial interfaces has attracted the concerted attention of scientists and engineers both in geomechanics and applied mechanics. These efforts have been largely due to the observation that the conventional idealizations of the behaviour of interfaces between materials by frictionless contact, bonded contact, Coulomb friction or finite friction tend to omit many interesting and important influences of special relevance to geomaterials. The significant manner in which non-linear effects, dilatancy, contact degradation, hardening and softening, etc., can influence the behaviour of the interface is borne out by experimental evidence. As a result, in many instances, the response of the interface can be the governing criterion in the performance of a geomechanics problem. The primary objective of this volume is to provide a documentation of recent advances in the area of geomaterial interfaces. The volume consists of subject groupings which cover ice-structure, soil-structure and steel-concrete interfaces, mechanics of rock and concrete joints and interfaces in discrete systems.
