Book excerpt: æIn the seven decades since the Second World War, 14 Squadron has operated a wide array of aircraft types (Mosquitoes, Vampires, Venoms, Hunters, Canberras, Phantoms, Jaguars and Tornados) in a fascinating variety of roles. For much of this time, the Squadron was based in Germany at the front line of the Cold War, but it also participated in the Gulf War in 1991, in operations over Iraq from 1991-2009, in the Kosovo conflict in 2000 and latterly during the war in Afghanistan, firstly with the Tornado GR4 and then with the Shadow R1. Today the Squadron operates in great secrecy in an Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance role.æ Having had access to log-books, contemporary diaries, maps and photographs, as well as oral and written accounts from a large number of ex-Squadron members, the author has been able to produce as complete an account as is presently possible of the operational history of 14 Squadron in the second half of the twentieth century and the opening years of the twenty-first.

She doesn’t allow relationships, and she has built her world around the fact that she can’t stand any type of physical contact with other people. She has resigned herself to a lonely existence of duty and obedience to her family. Then tragedy strikes, and Alex’s meticulously regimented world crumbles around her. Heartbroken and paralyzed by grief, she isn’t sure she’ll be able to carry on. Until an unexpected friend enters her life, her home, and her heart, and teaches her how to cope. But as Alex learns to deal with her new situation, she begins to wonder if their relationship is really what it seems to be. Is she truly being set free? Or is she simply swapping one cage for another?

Book Margaret Cavendish Political Writings

Download or read book Margaret Cavendish Political Writings written by Margaret Cavendish Duchess of Newcastle and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 2003-08-28 with total page 348 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Margaret Cavendish, Duchess of Newcastle, published a wide variety of works including poems, plays, letters and treatises of natural philosophy, but her significance as a political writer has only recently been recognised. This major contribution to the series of Cambridge Texts includes the first ever modern edition of her Divers Orations on English social and political life, together with a new student-friendly rendition of her imaginary voyage, A New World called the Blazing World. Susan James explains the allusions made in this classic text, and directs readers to the many intellectual debates with which Cavendish engages. Together these two works reveal the character and scope of Margaret Cavendish's political thought. She emerges as a singular and probing writer, who simultaneously upholds a conservative social and political order and destabilises it through her critical and unresolved observations about natural philosophy, scientific institutions, religion, and the relations between men and women.

Seeking refuge on a merchant sailing ship laden with cargo and bound for Australia, he is toughened to this new life at sea among the best and the worst of seamen and the awesome beauty and fury of nature. Existence as he has known it ends when he finds himself alone on an isolated island in the South Pacific. Days and weeks and months become years as his survival depends upon emergent courage and resourcefulness as well as the gradually awakening desire to reconcile his life in San Francisco and perhaps return to the young woman he barely knows. But the risks he faces are formidable as thousands of miles of open sea separate him from his ultimate destination. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Flamboyant, theatrical and ambitious, Margaret Cavendish was one of the seventeenth century's most striking figures: a woman who ventured into the male spheres of politics, science, philosophy and literature. The Blazing World is a highly original work: part Utopian fiction, part feminist text, it tells of a lady shipwrecked on the Blazing World where she is made Empress and uses her power to ensure that it is free of war, religious division and unfair sexual discrimination. This volume also includes The Contract, a romance in which love and law work harmoniously together, and Assaulted and Pursued Chastity, which explores the power and freedom a woman can achieve in the disguise of a man.

In Blue Diamond Journey, she shares her secret gift of insight and guidance from the world of spirit. Born of a Celtic and Native American heritage of seers, she narrates how she received incredibly detailed, sometimes humorous messages from her dreams, visions, and meditations—messages that she then validated with solid medical research. Day by day she was guided to specific foods, helpers, therapists, doctors, and books to heal her breast cancer—without chemo or radiation. Every person is part of an interconnected web as vast as this universe, rather than a collection of parts. Our innate, inner soul contains incredible healing wisdoms. Real healing honours this web of interaction—far beyond scientific logic or fact. What causes an illness will also help heal it. All the answers we need to heal are within us, and Esther demonstrates how to listen to those answers. He's come to the city of Rush in the nation of Slipstream with one thing in mind: to take murderous revenge for the deaths of his parents six years ago. Book Paranormal Zones

Download or read book Paranormal Zones written by Joslan F. Keller and published by Max Milo. This book was released on 2023-07-04 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ghosts of Hollywood, the death of Edgar Allan Poe, the loving Martian, the Zone of Silence, cursed diamonds. Joslan F. Keller tells us eighteen disturbing stories that defy reason. Eighteen paranormal zones from around the world, all authentic and documented by the author, which shake our certainties—the unexplained phenomena in the sky, the incursions into the world of spirits, encounters with unusual characters, close encounters with UFOs, visits to disturbing places. Doesn't the improbable arise from our still-limited knowledge and our inability to rationally explain phenomena that go beyond our understanding? The world is neither black nor white. Are there not an infinite number of grey areas, at the frontiers of the unknown, dominated by forces whose mechanisms are little explored, or not at all? Joslan F. Keller, born in 1966, is immersed in communication, day and night, with the fantastical. Historian of the strange, passionate about unexplained cases, he is a regular contributor to the C8 channel (Paranormal Investigations) and hosts The Unexplained Files, a monthly program on BTLV.fr, a television channel specializing in mystery and the unexplained.
