Book Bloom Wherever God Plants You

Download or read book Bloom Wherever God Plants You written by J. Mastine Nisbett and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2019-10-30 with total page 191 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dean Joshua Mastine Nisbett reflects on God’s involvement and purpose in his life. He reminisces over four decades of ordained ministry in two parishes. Several parallels are made between the author and Biblical characters. The call of Jeremiah while still in his mother’s womb. Hannah, dedicating her child to God’s service and Dean Nisbett’s parents baptizing him when he was nineteen days old. Amos, the dresser of sycamore trees called to be a prophet and Dean Nisbett’s call from the grafting of fruit trees to assist in the grafting of souls. The anointing of David, to be king of Israel and the election of Dean Nisbett as the second rector of St. David’s Episcopal Church. Abraham’s sacrificial testing of his son Isaac, and the near-death experience of Jevon, Dean Nisbett’s son. Joshua, who led the Israelites into the Promised Land, and Joshua who led St. David’s into their “Promised Land.” Haggai’s call for the rebuilding of the temple, and Dean Nisbett’s congregation building a house of worship. Jesus’ passion death and resurrection and Dean Nisbett’s challenges at the onset of his ministry. The author also identified with no room at the INN at Bethlehem, and the flight to Egypt by the Holy Family. Often times the lectionary readings resonates with a current experience of the author. Through prayer, meditation, radical trust in God, creative and mutual ministry, difficulties were turned into opportunities and a little church was transformed into a healthy one. Reflecting on a pilgrimage to Ghana, Dean Nisbett gives a graphic description of the African Slave Trade. He agonizes over the Anglican Church’s role in the business but is convinced God planted him in the said church to help change the narrative.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Anatomy of a First Lady speaks to the challenges and triumphs of leading ladies in corporate America, marriage, as well as in ministry. As you journey with me through a few of my personal experiences, I will utilize several parts of the human anatomy, such as the cardiovascular system, as a metaphor to transparently discuss relevant PowerPoints, such as matters of the heart. As the circulatory system’s function is to transport the blood throughout the body, women, we deal with various issues of life that cause us to silently scream simply because we are bleeding while leading. This novel offers strategies to combat blood “dis-Eases,” such as persecution, rejection, brokenness, and betrayal that try to block our flow. As the lymphatic system fights infection, leading ladies, you must understand that anything worth having won’t come easy, but you will have to fight for it. The largest organ in the human body is the skin. Leading ladies, if you are going to break glass ceilings, you have to develop a thick skin. As the bones give the body posture, I admonish women and men alike in leadership roles that challenges will come, but if you remain postured in your faith, you can conquer anything!

Book excerpt: A successful American surgeon gives away everything he owns and moves to Russia to keep a promise he made to God when he was fourteen. . . and finds unexpected joy. Doctor Bill Becknell moved to Russia and, despite not speaking the language, began providing medical care to people in the villages above the Arctic Circle. He traveled by truck, snowmobile, reindeer sleigh, and helicopter to reach people who had never seen a doctor or heard about Jesus—people who told him that they’ve been waiting all their lives for someone to explain who created the stars in the night sky. Every trip he made was an adventure. Despite extreme hardships, brokenness, sacrifices, and even near-death experiences along the road, Bill discovered that God has an unfailing love that is beyond comprehension. This is the true story of one man’s journey to confront and understand the suffering, pain, confusion, and despair that challenge our lives. Sorrow is a part of living, but how we handle the tragedy in our lives makes all the difference. This book was written to encourage us not to be afraid to step into the unknown abyss of faith. “This book about battles of faith . . . will be an encouragement to everyone who reads it.” —Ingeborg Fuhrhop-Stetzler, president, Agape Germany

Book Damaged but Still Good

    Book Details:
  • Author : Ramona Rodgers
  • Publisher : Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.
  • Release : 2019-12-02
  • ISBN : 1642990086
  • Pages : 134 pages

Download or read book Damaged but Still Good written by Ramona Rodgers and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2019-12-02 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Damaged, but Still Good is a book that is revelatory in exemplifying that many of us as individuals whether good, bad, ugly, or indifferent are shaped by our experiences as early as childhood. Dexter Howard (2014) states, "That's what's missing as I look at the landscape of our society: identity and much needed affirmation." Mothers are designed to nurture, but fathers provide identity and affirmation. "Without those things, it leaves a hole in the heart of a child." Parents don't realize that broken relationships not only affect the couple involved, but it affects and shapes their children. "We are the sum total of our experiences. And, like a flowing river, those same experiences, and those yet to come, continue to influence and reshape the person we are, and the person we become. None of us are the same as we were yesterday, nor will be tomorrow" (B. J. Neblett). Oftentimes, we ask the question, "Why do bad things happen to good people?" However, we learn the best lessons and gain wisdom in the worst circumstances. It is amid life challenges, catastrophes, and calamities that we understand that even when you have experienced great loss, God can still use what you have left! Life has taught me it's not what we go through that damages us, but an unwillingness to forgive the process designed to work for our greater good. The Bible says in Psalms 37:23 that the steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord. Most of us believe that God is a God that only orders blessings. However, life has shown me that God does not just order blessings, but God orders trials. He orders setbacks, and he orders challenges, but in God's ordering, he will never put on us more than what we can bear.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spiritual growth and a plant’s growth cycle are not different. Like the balloon plant, Christians grow in stages. Our spiritual timeline begins once we accept Christ. Then a seed germinates into a young plant that eventually blooms and shares faith experiences, which reproduces more faith and spreads seeds according to God’s plan. Finally, the plant develops into a mature Christian who is God’s harvester in preordained gardens. In the conclusion of her discipleship trilogy, Reverend Barbara A. F. Brehon shares scripture, wisdom, and a plant lifecycle comparison to gently move believers toward the light of the Lord in their respective growing seasons. Through her guidance, believers will learn how to strengthen their faith and sow seeds that encourage new believers and others to bloom where they are planted, clarify and fulfill their divine purpose, and grow intimacy with the Lord, who refines the mission. Blooming for Christ is an enlightening guide that offers scripture and insight to help believers grow closer to God and please the Lord in all seasons of life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bloom Where Youre Plantedon paper, it may be a simple concept, but in reality, it is one of the most challenging tasks a Christian will ever face, especially during hard times. I discovered this firsthand after being diagnosed with epilepsy as a teenager. I was swept off my mountain and found myself smack-dab in the middle of the valley of shadow and doubt. The truth is, this unexpected change of scenery was exactly what I needed if I was ever going to stop focusing on the plans I created and start focusing on Gods plan instead. The journey through the valley is never easy, but embracing the will God has intended for your life is a good start. I may not be through my valley just yet, but as Ive learned over the span of eight years while dealing with epilepsy, Gods plan is perfect and dependable. Blooming where youre planted is more than simply embracing your current circumstances; it is choosing to root yourself in Christ. Only then can you grow to fulfill the purpose created for you by Almighty God.
