Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Variational Monte Carlo calculations have been made for the s-shell hypernuclei and also of /sub .lambda./9Be with a 2.cap alpha. + .lambda. model. The well depth is calculated variationally with the Fermi hypernetted chain method. A satisfactory description of all the relevant experimental .lambda. separation energies and also of the .lambda.p scattering can be obtained with reasonable TPE .lambda. N and .lambda. NN forces and strongly repulsive dispersive .lambda. NN forces which are preferred to be spin dependent. We discuss variational calculations for /sub .lambda lambda./6He and /sub .lambda lambda./1°Be with .cap alpha. + 2.lambda. and 2.cap alpha. + 2.lambda. models, and the results obtained for the .lambda lambda. interaction and for /sub .lambda lambda./6He from analysis of /sub .lambda lambda./1°Be. Coulomb effects and charge symmetry breaking in the A=4 hypernuclei are discussed. 28 refs.

Book Study of the 7 Lambda He Hypernucleus in Formalism of the Faddeev Equations

Download or read book Study of the 7 Lambda He Hypernucleus in Formalism of the Faddeev Equations written by Branislav Vlahovic and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: P-shell A = 7 hypernuclei are considered in the cluster {sub {Lambda}}{sup 5}He + N + N model. The folding procedure are applied to construct the {sub {Lambda}}{sup 5}He-N interaction. We use the OBE simulating NSC97f potential for {Lambda}N interaction and various phenomenological potentials for {alpha}{Lambda} interaction. Configuration space Faddeev calculations are performed for hyperon binding energy of the {sub {Lambda}}{sup 7}He(1/2{sup +}) and {sub {lambda}}{sup 7}Li(1/2{sup +} and 3/2{sup +}, T=0) nuclei. Predicted value for B{sub {Lambda}}({sub {Lambda}}{sup 7}He) is 5.35 MeV. This value is obtained when the {sup {Lambda}}{sup 6}He(2{sup -}) excitation energy is equal 0.26 MeV by the adjustment of pair {sub {Lambda}}{sup 5}He-N effective potential to reproduce the experimental value of the {sub {Lambda}}{sup 7}Li(3/2{sup +}) excitation energy. Our results are compared with those of E. Hiyama et al.

Book Hypernuclear Interactions and the Binding Energies of and Hypernuclei

Download or read book Hypernuclear Interactions and the Binding Energies of and Hypernuclei written by and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By use of variational calculations a reasonable hadronic description is obtained of the s-shell hypernuclei, of /sub /ZBe, and of the well depth, with N forces which are consistent with p scattering and which are quite strongly spin-dependent, with reasonable TPE NN forces with strongly repulsive dispersive-type NN forces. For the latter we also consider a spin-dependent version which is somewhat favored by our analysis. /sub /ZBe is treated as a 2ed + system and is significantly overbound, approx. =1 MeV, if only ed ed and ed potentials are used. An ed ed potential obtained from the NN forces nicely accounts for this overbinding. The hypernuclei /sub /WHe and /sub / Be are treated as ed + 2 and 2ed + 2 systems. Use of the /sub / Be event gives approx. =1.5 MeV too little binding for /sub /WHe. The S0 potential obtained from /sub / Be is quite strongly attractive, comparable to the N and also to the NN potential without OPE. 18 refs.

Book The Role of One Single Lambda Hyperon on Binding Energy Difference of Hypernuclear Mirror Pair

Download or read book The Role of One Single Lambda Hyperon on Binding Energy Difference of Hypernuclear Mirror Pair written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Abstract: Investigation on isospin symmetry in light Lambda hypernuclei is one of the most important issues in hypernuclear physics. In order to know the influences introduced by a single Lambda hyperon, we study the binding energy difference of mirror hypernuclear pair with mass A = 16, 18, 28, 40, and 42 using a time-odd triaxial relativistic mean field theory. Effects as the spin-orbit interaction, the time-odd component of vector fields, the core polarization, the proton-neutron mass difference, and the center-of-mass energy correction are self-consistently considered. Compared to the reported results of ordinary nuclei, the binding energy difference of mirror hypernuclei shows trivial change. With core polarization modified by an impurity hyperon, the isospin nonconserving effect between proton and neutron is hardly reduced for nuclei in study.

Book Binding Energy of a Lambda particle in Nuclear Matter and the Lambda nucleon Interaction

Download or read book Binding Energy of a Lambda particle in Nuclear Matter and the Lambda nucleon Interaction written by B. W. Downs and published by . This book was released on 1963 with total page 9 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The binding energy D of a lambda-particle in nuclear matter is calculated with the independent-pair approximation for seven central two-body lambda-nucleon potentials. These potentials are consistent with the binding energy of lambda He5 and therefore represent the spin-averaged lambda-nucleon interaction in S states; they have hard cores of radius 0.4 F or 0.6 F and two-parameter attractive wells with ranges suggested by consideration of the two-pion-exchange mechanism. A simple approximation to the Bethe-Goldstone function is suggested; its use permits D and the partial-wave contributions to D to be evaluated easily. When the S-wave lambda-nucleon potentials are assumed to be appropriate to all angular momentum states, the calculated values of D, corresponding to a nucleon density equal to the central density in heavy nuclei, are consistent with empirical estimates in the range 30-40 MeV for most of the potentials considered. If the correct value of D is close to 30 MeV, some reduction in the strength of the longer ranged potentials may be required in odd-parity states (at least in P states) to bring about agreement; for the shorter ranged potentials considered, no such reduction would be required. If the correct value of D is close to 40 MeV, odd-parity suppression would not be indicated even for the longer ranged potentials. The first three partial-wave contributions to D, as well as D itself, are given for each potential, and the dependence of these on the hard-core radius and on the shape and range of the attractive well is discussed. Book Spectroscopic Study of the Lambda Hypernuclei by the e E K Reaction

Download or read book Spectroscopic Study of the Lambda Hypernuclei by the e E K Reaction written by Toshinobu Miyoshi and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hypernuclear spectroscopy study via the (e, e'K+) reaction has been carried out for the first time, establishing a new technique to study Lambda hypernuclei. The high quality electron beam at Jefferson Lab made it possible to measure Lambda hypernuclear spectra with an energy resolution better than 1 MeV (FWHM). The present experiment was designed to make full use of the virtual photon flux, which peaks at very forward angles, by detecting scattered electrons at 0 degrees. Scattered positive kaons were also detected near 0 degrees, where the cross section of the kaon photo-production is maximized. This unique kinematical configuration was realized with the HyperNuclear Spectrometer System (HNSS), which consisted of the Short-Orbit Spectrometer, the Enge Split-Pole Spectrometer, and the splitter magnet. The Lambda12B mass spectrum was measured in the 12C(e, e'K+)Lambda12B reaction with 0.9 MeV (FWHM) energy resolution. The averaged binding energy of the Lambda12B ground state doublet was obtained to be 11.7 " 0.1 (statistical) " 0.3 (systematic) MeV, which is consistent with emulsion data. The general spectral structure of the 12C(e, e'K+) Lambda12B reaction was found to be similar to that of the 12C(Lambda+, K+)Lambda12C reaction, showing characteristic peaks corresponding to sLambda and pLambda orbits, as well as a few core-excited states. The cross section of the Lambda12B ground state doublet was derived to be 117 " 13 (statistical) " 14 (systematic) nb/sr. The theoretical prediction of the cross section was consistent with the present result, validating DWIA calculation for hypernuclear yields. The present study proved the effectiveness of the (e, e'K+) reaction for future Lambda hypernuclear spectroscopy studies.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recently a symbiotic relationship between particle and nuclear physics has developed, with techniques and ideas from one field fertilizing developments in the other. This work outlines concepts from modern particle physics important to the current understanding of nuclear physics and reviews experiments involving nuclei which have influenced the present particle physics view of the weak interaction. In his discussion, the author summarizes both past and present activity in the field and identifies areas for future work. Familiarity with quantum mechanics is assumed in the presentation of ideas in this book intended for readers at the graduate level and beyond. A major goal of Weak Interactions in Nuclei is to encourage further activity at the intersection of particle and nuclear physics, two path-breaking areas of study in modern physics. Book Suppression of the Lambda Sigma Coupling in Nuclear Matter

Download or read book Suppression of the Lambda Sigma Coupling in Nuclear Matter written by and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 150 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We initiated a study of the modification of the coupling of the [Lambda]N to the [Sigma]N channel in nuclear matter with the Fermi hypernetted-chain variational approach. This modification of the [Lambda]N-[Sigma]N coupling is a central problem in hypernuclear physics and is related closely to the strongly repulsive three-body forces which are needed to account for hypernuclear binding energies. All earlier calculations have only considered this problem in the so-called G-matrix approximation which neglects important higher-order effects. An important result of this work will be a better understanding of the density dependence of [Lambda] binding in nuclear matter, which can then be tested in the calculation of the [Lambda] single-particle energies.
