This book was released on 2011-02-07 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Everybody understands the five consciousnesses which are recognized by the five organs (eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and skin) contacting the five objects (color (light), sound, smell, taste, and tactile objects), respectively. To human being, even sentient being, that is not all. Everybody knows about the sixth consciousness, namely, mind. In Buddhism, the sixth consciousness is explained to be generated from contacting between the sixth organ and the sixth object (dharma). What is the sixth organ? What is the sixth object? No more detailed explanation in Buddhism yet. However, this book provides very clear understanding on the sixth organ, sixth object, and further, mechanism of all consciousnesses. Finally you will become to know about "Who am I?" and get Enlightenment. In addition, this book will contribute to the scientific progress on consciousness. One of the author's friends, Mr. Anjan Sen, Patent Attorney in Calcutta, reviewed about this book, "I am really grateful to you for giving me this special opportunity to go through this excellent analytical and logically driven work of yours. You deserve special praise and credit for creating such a work inspite of your busy professional schedule which I found not only highly thought provoking but also directional and, most importantly, has been written in such a lucid form that would make it a ready treat for one and all to read and appreciate the discourse. Book Abhidharmakosa Bhasya of Vasubandhu

Download or read book Abhidharmakosa Bhasya of Vasubandhu written by Gelong Lodro Sangpo and published by Motilal Banarsidass. This book was released on 2012-01-01 with total page 927 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vasubandhu's Abhidharmakosa-Bhasya (ca. 380-390), besides its culminating achievement in streamlining the overall structure of the exposition of the preceding Abhidharma manuals, is unmatched by any of the preceding manuals in respect of its comprehensiveness-incorporating all important Vaibhasika doctrines since the time of the Abhidharma-mahavibhasa-of its excellent skill in definition and elucidation, and of its ability to clarify the difficult point involved in doctrinal disputations. Added to these qualities is its great value as a brilliant critique and insightful revaluation of all the fundamental Sar-vastivada doctrines developed up to its time. Since its appearance, it has been used as a standard textbook for the understanding of not only the Abhidharma doctrines but all the fundamental Buddhist doctrines in general. Translated into Chinese by Paramartha in 563 A.D. and by Hsuan-tsang in 651-654 A.D., Hsuan-tsang's disciple P'u-kuang tells us that in India the Abhidharmakosa-Bhasya was hailed as the 'Book of Intelligence'. In China, Japan and the Far-east, too, the Kosa has generally been highly treasured as a textbook of fundamental importance for Buddhist studies. Vasubandhu's brilliant critique of the doctrines of the Vaibhasika was answered by the equally brilliant Samghabhadra - a contemporary staunch defender and expounder of the doctrines of the Vaibhasikas - in his masterwork, the Abhidharmanyayanusara, now extant only in Hsuan-tsang's translation (653-654 A.D.). The Sanskrit text, considered for a long time to be irremediably lost, was discovered by Rahula Samkrtyayana in 1935 in the Tibetan monastery of Ngor and was published by P. Pradhan in 1967 (1st edition).

Download or read book The Buddha Nature written by Brian Edward Brown and published by Motilal Banarsidass Publ.. This book was released on 1991 with total page 370 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the fundamental tenets of Mahayana Buddhism animating and grounding the doctrine and discipline of its spiritual path, is the inherent potentiality of all animate beings to attain the supreme and perfect enlightenment of Buddhahood. This book examines the ontological presuppositions and the corresponding soteriological-epistemological principles that sustain and define such a theory. Within the field of Buddhist studies, such a work provides a comprehensive context in which to interpret the influence and major insights of the various Buddhist schools. Thus, the dynamics of the Buddha Nature, though non-thematic and implicit, is at the heart of Zen praxis, while it is a significant articulation in Kegon, Tendai, and Shingon thought. More specifically, the book seeks to establish a coherent metaphysics of absolute suchness (Tathata), synthesizing the variant traditions of the Tathagata-embryo (Tathagatagarbha) and the Storehouse Consciousness (Alayavijnana). The books` contribution to the broader field of the History of Religions rests in its presentation and analysis of the Buddhist Enlightenment as the salvific-transformational moment in which Tathata `awakens` to itself, comes to perfect slef-realization as the Absolute suchness of reality, in and through phenomenal human consciousness. The book is an interpretation of the Buddhist Path as the spontaneous self-emergence of `embryonic` absolute knowledge as it comes to free itself from the concealments of adventitious defilements, and possess itself in fully self-explicitated self-consciousness as the `Highest Truth` and unconditional nature of all existence; it does so only in the form of omniscient wisdom.

Book excerpt: Considerations of Mind - a Buddhist Enquiry This volume primarily focuses upon the Yogācāra- Vijñānavādin concepts of mind and its means of expression such as the various consciousnesses, the nature of the bījas, and the ālayavijñāna. From this basis, related topics such as the nature of light, the simile of a river with respect to the flow of a consciousness-stream, and the nāḍīs that convey prāṇas, are explored. This allows consideration of the attributes of time and certain chakras that exist below the diaphragm. The ‘soul’ concept then comes into view and its relation to śūnyatā is revealed.

Book Esoteric Cosmology and Modern Physics

Download or read book Esoteric Cosmology and Modern Physics written by Bodo Balsys and published by Universal Dharma Publishing. This book was released on 2020-03-04 with total page 603 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book endeavours to integrate the concepts gleaned through modern physics with those of the esotericist, hence with the lore derived from meditative penetration of high dimensions of perception. This incorporates the nāḍī and chakra system, via which all phenomena is derived, and of the nature of the projection of thought-forms from the subjective domains to the phenomenal world. This book consequently endeavours to show how the laws discovered by physicists derive from those of the subjective universe. Many abstruse ideas therefore need to be discussed which the scientifically minded are unaware, as well as unfamiliar concepts for most religionists and philosophers. Hopefully this syncretic approach will evoke many revelations in all these schools of thought. Readers should not dismiss the ideas presented out of hand, but rather should rationalise what is logically correct as a valid basis for further research and enquiry into the origin and nature of things.
