Book Perspectives in Powder Metallurgy Fundamentals Methods and Applications

Download or read book Perspectives in Powder Metallurgy Fundamentals Methods and Applications written by H. Hausner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 336 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Powder metallurgy literature in the English language includes a large number of books and several thousand articles in various journals. The rate of growth of this literature increases from year to year. It covers well the whole field of powder metallurg- materials, processes and products - with two exceptions: friction and antifriction branches of powder metallurgy. This lack of information has nothing to do with scientific or technical considerations, and definitely has nothing to do with lack of initiative in the development of these materials. The industry concerned with the production of friction and antifriction materials is continually developing new products and techniques and produc tion is steadily growing. However, most companies working on these materials regard their experiences and new advancements as "proprietary" and, for competitive reasons, are not interested in publishing in the technical literature except for very perfunctory and usually highly commercial papers. Very little work on fric tion and antifriction materials is going on in independent labora tories and university laboratories, although fundamental studies in this field offer very interesting aspects.

Book Advances in powder metallurgy

Download or read book Advances in powder metallurgy written by R. Goodall and published by Elsevier Inc. Chapters. This book was released on 2013-08-31 with total page 43 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This chapter describes the processing and properties of metals containing significant fractions of porosity, processed using powders. The basic concepts used in porous materials research are introduced and the different types of processing techniques that have been explored are surveyed. The reported property data for different foams are collated and used to illustrate the range of properties that have been achieved and methods to predict the properties of porous metals from elementary knowledge about their structure are discussed. Finally, the outlook for porous metals research and some likely future directions of fruitful enquiry are suggested.

Book Powder Metallurgy

Download or read book Powder Metallurgy written by G. Dowson and published by Springer. This book was released on 1990 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Powder metallurgy, commonly designated by its initial letters asPM or PM, may be defined as the production of useful artefacts from metal powder without passing through the molten state. This introductory text examines the processes by which these powders are produced, and explores their behaviour in the subsequent consolidation stages.

Book Titanium Powder Metallurgy

Download or read book Titanium Powder Metallurgy written by Ma Qian and published by Butterworth-Heinemann. This book was released on 2015-02-10 with total page 649 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Titanium Powder Metallurgy contains the most comprehensive and authoritative information for, and understanding of, all key issues of titanium powder metallurgy (Ti PM). It summarizes the past, reviews the present and discusses the future of the science and technology of Ti PM while providing the world titanium community with a unique and comprehensive book covering all important aspects of titanium powder metallurgy, including powder production, powder processing, green shape formation, consolidation, property evaluation, current industrial applications and future developments. It documents the fundamental understanding and technological developments achieved since 1937 and demonstrates why powder metallurgy now offers a cost-effective approach to the near net or net shape fabrication of titanium, titanium alloys and titanium metal matrix composites for a wide variety of industrial applications. - Provides a comprehensive and in-depth treatment of the science, technology and industrial practice of titanium powder metallurgy - Each chapter is delivered by the most knowledgeable expert on the topic, half from industry and half from academia, including several pioneers in the field, representing our current knowledge base of Ti PM. - Includes a critical review of the current key fundamental and technical issues of Ti PM. - Fills a critical knowledge gap in powder metal science and engineering and in the manufacture of titanium metal and alloys
