Book Trauma and Traumatization in Individual and Collective Dimensions

Download or read book Trauma and Traumatization in Individual and Collective Dimensions written by Eve-Marie Becker and published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. This book was released on 2014-10-01 with total page 317 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The contributors of this volume demonstrate how a highly developed expertise in interpreting Biblical and cognate literature is a substantial part of the overall discourse on the historical, literary, social, political, and religious dimensions of trauma in past and present. This idea is based on the assumption that trauma is not only a modern concept which derives from 20th century psychiatry: It is an ancient phenomenon already which predates modern discourses. Trauma studies will thus profit from how Theology - specifically Biblical exegesis - and the Humanities deal with trauma in terms of religion, history, sociology, and politics.

Book Collective Consciousness and Gender

Download or read book Collective Consciousness and Gender written by Alexandra Walker and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-08-22 with total page 364 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores collective consciousness and how it is applied to the pursuit of gender justice in international law. It discusses how the collective mode of behaviour and identity can lead to unconscious role-playing based on the social norms, expectations or archetypes of a group. Alexandra Walker contends that throughout history, men have been constructed as archetypal dominators and women as victims. In casting women in this way, we have downplayed their pre-existing, innate capacities for strength, leadership and power. In casting men as archetypal dominators, we have downplayed their capacities for nurturing, care and empathy. The author investigates the widespread implications of this unconscious role-playing, arguing that even in countries in which women have many of the same legal rights as men, gender justice and equality have been too simplistically framed as ‘feminism’ and ‘women’s rights’ and that giving women the rights of men has not created gender balance. This book highlights the masculine and feminine traits belonging to all individuals and calls on international law to reflect this gender continuum.

Book Psychology of Sustainability

Download or read book Psychology of Sustainability written by Marcel Hunecke and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-10-19 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book analyzes key findings and developments of psychology for sustainable development. The starting point is a discussion of the established literature of environmental psychology in regards to which factors influence environment-related behavior. Afterwards, the author discusses strategies and interventions that can promote sustainable behavior. It is very important that in order to increase the effectiveness of environmental psychological interventions, these must be first contextualized socially. Furthermore, interventions that aim to bring about a socio-ecological transformation should also focus on the goal of subjective well-being. Overall, the findings of environmental psychology are brought together with theories from positive psychology and the approach of psychological resources from positive psychology and the approach of psychological resources from health psychology to answer the question: How can the socio-ecological transformation of a consumer society be supported by an inner transformation of human beings. An answer to this question is provided by the promotion of six psychological resources for sustainable lifestyles: mindfulness, capacity for pleasure, self-acceptance, self-efficacy, construction of meaning and solidarity can both promote individual well-being and increase motivation for sustainable behavior.
