Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Psalms have a double identity. They are scripture and liturgy. They compose a book of the Bible and are found in our hymnals and books of worship and prayer. When we think of them in historical perspective, another identity emerges. They are the liturgical poetry of ancient Israel, texts with a history of composition and use before they became scripture. A commentary in this Interpretation series needs to keep all three identities in view. That puts some strain on the commentator's task. The attempt to interpret the Psalms in awareness of the depth in their identity explains some things about the commentary and its writing. - Preface.

Book excerpt: It feels like our world is moving in new, uncertain directions and in unknown waters where you need a good anchor. In Jesus Christ, who is our Rock, we have hope as an anchor for the soul. To not be set adrift, one needs to stay connected to that anchor. I have found it is only by regular time in God's Word that it happens. We believe the promise recorded in 1 Peter 1:24-25: The grass withers, and its flower falls away, but the word of the LORD endures forever. Day by day, as we come to God's Enduring Word, He has wisdom, strength, and blessing to give us. We can weather storms and enjoy calm waters. We can grow in seasons of drought and bear a harvest for God's kingdom year-round. For 25 years I have prepared a weekly devotional. Here are 365 selected Scripture passages along with an inspirational, encouraging, and helpful thought. My prayer is that you would know and enjoy more and more of God's enduring word. In Jesus, David Guzik

Book excerpt: Horsemen, signs, seals, weeks this volume in Hendrickson's popular New International Biblical Commentary tackles the New Testament book that puzzles and intrigues laypeople and students alike. Wall takes a sane, common-sense approach to Revelation, explaining both its historical setting and its apocalyptic character. Like other NIBC volumes, this commentary uses the NIV for clarity and accessibility. Wall s commentary is a valuable contribution to the study of Revelation. It interacts well with most of the leading contemporary scholarship in the field. It provides an angle of perspective on John s vision that opens some new vistas into its meaning and provides healthy correctives of many misconceptions. This is a useful resource for college and seminary classes on Revelation and a helpful tool for those with theological/biblical training who would lead Bible studies on Revelation. M. Book Bible Commentary and Teachings

Download or read book Bible Commentary and Teachings written by Cidi Mahammed and published by Author House. This book was released on 2014-10-07 with total page 119 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "For we are royal priesthood, a peculiar people and that to show forth the praises of him, that hath call us out of darkness in to his marvelous light." As such, we are sons and daughters of the Lord our God, the eternal heavenly king. In this regard, it is gracious to be in honour of the salvation of the Lord our God who dwells eternally. Children should delight in sharing the testimony and word of the Lord, so as making the light of the Lord to show proof in our locality and region. We know that the word of the Lord hath shown light to us. That we all descended from Adam and Eve, and that through the word of the Lord, we all become children of Abraham in Christ the Lord. This testimony of the word of the Lord makes known through the gospel and in the ministry of apostles of the Lord our Saviour Christ. So in essence, we children in the Lord should aspire to share this testimony in the word of the Lord, so as to draw more others to come to light in to this testimony of the Lord, shed through in the word of the Lord. Thus in regard, I have taken this initiative in producing this booklet, Bible Commentary and Teachings, to share some testimony in to the word of the Lord and draw some light in to the word of the Lord. This is so that we can delight for more passion and aspiration to learn of the doctrine of our Lord Christ and God the Father. The commentary can lead us to make way for a grasp look in to the word of the Lord so that we'll be in place to take a quick note of the lessons of the Lord. The teachings would make us edified in the word of the Lord and lead us in forbearance in the Lord.
