Book Messages from Mhabharat

Download or read book Messages from Mhabharat written by Murti Yerrapragada and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2022-01-31 with total page 631 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book, Messages from Mahabharat, presents the epic story of Mahabharat in simple English. After editing the Scriptures, the great sage created this wonderful epic to convey the underlying essence of Vedas using the story medium. Mahabharat is thus known as the ‘Panchama Vedam’, the fifth Veda. Addressing a group of scholar sages led by Kulapati Shounaka Maharshi, Ugrasravas, a talented storyteller, narrates the story of Mahabharat in the setting of a forest known as Naimisharanyam. The sages were conducting a long Yagnam. During one of the breaks of this Yagnam, they wanted to hear a new, unheard, enlightening and entertaining story. The epic unfolds a series of legendary events, culminating in the famed Kurukshetra War, and beyond. Running close to Vyasa’s original story, the book presents the entire epic story with all relevant features including many sub-stories and details of the eighteen-day war. Starting from the early origins of the Chandra Dynasty, the story revolves around the lives of the children of Kings Dhritarastra and Pandu. The detailed conduct of these main players and others portrays a wide spectrum of human behavioral traits.

Book A Critical Analysis of Bhima Bhoi and the Mahima Cult

Download or read book A Critical Analysis of Bhima Bhoi and the Mahima Cult written by Nishamani Kar and published by Lexington Books. This book was released on 2024-05-15 with total page 219 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Critical Analysis of Bhima Bhoi and the Mahima Cult is a rare compendium of insightful essays by eminent Indian scholars on the Mahima Cult, its genesis, and its growth. The volume focuses on Bhima Bhoi, the poet-philosopher and the prime interlocutor of the Renegade Faith, who started a revolt from below to champion human rights. To critically appreciate the Saint-poet Bhima Bhoi and the Mahima Cult (Dharma of Glory), the history of the 19th-century Indian sociocultural system, especially that of Odisha and its adjoining states, needs to be reconstructed. Since there is no surviving oral and written text authored by the founder of the cult, Mahima Swami, it is only the unlettered genius Bhima Bhoi, who produced innumerable prayers, hymns, and poetic recitals of profound philosophical import, which made him the legend, the poet-archivist, and historiographer of the Mahima Cult. Bhima was simultaneously the poet of the soul and the soil, who used theology and social experience to provide a supportive sub-structure to a transcendent, ecstatic vision. This volume asserts that Mahima Dharma is an autochthonous reform movement and a regional variation of the Indian Bhakti tradition and mystical poetry.

Book Two Krishnas and One Chariot The Story Of Arjuna

Download or read book Two Krishnas and One Chariot The Story Of Arjuna written by J.B.Patro and published by BecomeShakespeare.com. This book was released on 2019-10-20 with total page 716 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Brahmananda Patro (J B Patro) retired as a Deputy Chief Executive from the Nuclear Fuels Complex, Hyderabad (earlier in Bhabha Atomic Research Centre), specialized in the production of Nuclear Fuels for Power Reactors. He is a member of the early pioneering team in the production of natural uranium, right from milling ore to finished fuel for nuclear power reactors operating in India. During his long service he had the chance to interact and participate in a number of scientific seminars in India and abroad. Drawn to the teachings of Lord Krishna right from a very early age, Mr. Patro viewed Bhagavad-Gita as a treatise on the Physics of energy-The Laws of Thermodynamics-the very cosmic laws that govern of our Universe and conduct our lives as the rita of the Vedas. He has compiled, edited and since published Sree MahaBhagavatam in English translated from original Sanskrit by late Swami Ramakrishna Brahmananda. Enchanted by Lord Krishna’s personality and researching into the classical and contemporary literature on Krishna, his book The Life and Times of Krishna- the Deity Who Lived as Man was published by Wisdom Tree in September 2013.While researching on Krishna Mr. Patro was fascinated by the character of Arjuna, the bosom friend of Krishna. Krishna says on a number of occasions in the Epic Mahabharata that Arjuna is his other self, alter ego. And also, the Puranic literature attributes the duo to the legend of ancient rishis Nara Narayan. Arjuna being an avatar of Nara-The primeval Man or eternal spirit pervading the Universe, always associated with Narayana the Supreme Spirit Vishnu/Krishna. Both are considered as Gods or Sages and accordingly called ‘Deva, Rishi, and Tapasao’. This has been the theme of the book on Pandava hero Arjuna entitled as ‘Two Krishnas and One Chariot-The story of Arjuna. It took about two years to research on the subject from Epic Mahabharata and other related literature. Arjuna was a versatile human, intellectual with an enquiring mind, and a peerless warrior, and Lord Krishna rightly selected him to impart his Science of Yoga which has been handed down to us as Bhagavad Gita.
