Book excerpt: ‘हिन्दी आलोचना का आलोचनात्मक इतिहास’ हिन्दी आलोचना का इतिहास है, लेकिन ‘आलोचनात्मक’। इसमें लेखक ने प्रचलित आलोचना की कुछ ऐसी विसंगतियों को भी रेखांकित किया है, जिनकी तरफ आमतौर पर न रचनाकारों का ध्यान जाता है, न आलोचकों का। उदाहरण के लिए हिन्दी साहित्य के आलोचना-वृत्त से उर्दू साहित्य का बाहर रह जाना; जिसके चलते उर्दू अलग होते-होते सिर्फ एक धर्म से जुड़ी भाषा हो गई और उसका अत्यन्त समृद्ध साहित्य हिन्दुस्तानी मानस के बृहत काव्यबोध से अलग हो गया। कहने की जरूरत नहीं कि आज इसके सामाजिक और राजनीतिक दुष्परिणाम हमारे सामने एक बड़े खतरे की शक्ल में खड़े हैं। सुबुद्ध लेखक ने इस पूरी प्रक्रिया के ऐतिहासिक पक्ष का विवेचन करते हुए यहाँ उर्दू-साहित्य आलोचना को भी अपने इतिहास में जगह दी है। आधुनिक गद्य साहित्य के साथ ही आलोचना का जन्म हुआ, इस धारणा को चुनौती देते हुए वे यहाँ संस्कृत साहित्य की व्यावहारिक आलोचना को भी आलोचना की सुदीर्घ परम्परा में शामिल करते हैं, और फिर सोपान-दर-सोपान आज तक आते हैं जहाँ मीडिया-समीक्षा भी आलोचना के एक स्वतंत्र आयाम के रूप में पर्याप्त विकसित हो चुकी है। कुल इक्कीस सोपानों में विभाजित इस आलोचना-इतिहास में लेखक ने अत्यन्त तार्किक ढंग से विधाओं, प्रवृत्तियों, विचारधाराओं, शैलियों आदि के आधार पर बाँटते हुए हिन्दी आलोचना का एक सम्पूर्ण अध्ययन सम्भव किया है। अपने प्रारूप में यह पुस्तक एक सन्दर्भ ग्रंथ भी है और आलोचना को एक नए परिप्रेक्ष्य में देखने का वैचारिक आह्वान भी।
