Imagine navigating through childhood and your adult life carrying the baggage of being bullied or called a sissy because you were unable to stand up for yourself. Lyman Montgomery lived that life and suffered great and consistent losses. Before age of 14, he was sexually abused by a trusted teacher and experienced the death of two of his grandparents-one of which took her own life. Lyman kept silent about his abuse, avoided dealing with the grief of his fathers death by never mentioning him, associated with people who were better off financially, developed unhealthy relationships with women, performed as others expected, used accomplishments to feel better about himself and projected a religious lifestyle that was not rooted in righteousness. Shattered Masks: 7 Masks We Wear is an autobiographical account of how masks are made in a young person's life. It is also a self-study to help you identify the mask makers in your life and to shatter the masks youve grown accustomed to wearing.

Book Breaking the Cycle

  • Author : Peter Banning
  • Publisher : Xlibris Corporation
  • Release : 2000-09-01
  • ISBN : 1469111276
  • Pages : 258 pages

Download or read book Breaking the Cycle written by Peter Banning and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2000-09-01 with total page 258 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a fresh look at stopping the cycle of child molestation by attacking the source, the child molester, instead of trying to deal with the end product of abuse, the victim/survivor. The book is broken into two parts. Chapters 1 through 4 address the issues of the child molestor and what can be done to stop the molestor's cycle of abusing children. Chapters 5 through 8 are to help those who are dealing with either the offender or the survivor of the child sexual abuse. Parents of sexually abused children may find the answers they are seeking. Spouses of offenders may come to understand a part of their offending spouse that has been a dark mystery. Various victims of sexual abuse should find this book of interest. It deals with the offenders of sexual abuse and what can and should be done to stop them. This is done by exposing the faulty logic used by offenders. It attacks their basic personality, life style, and erroneous thought processes. There is no attempt to justify the behavior of the child offender. There is no softening of the effect of the abusers' past behavior. It exposes the make-up of the offender and suggests a path of recovery from this dysfunctional behavior. This approach opens a door long closed to look beyond the therapeutic treatment of child molesters to reveal what works and what does not and why. The hope is to develop answers for the generic question many victims ask - "WHY?", as well as answer the specific question - "WHY ME?" Although a lot of research has been done on this subject, this book is not one of theory but of experiences. It relates to the therapeutic experience with examples. This should not be considered a 'How-to' book but more a guide for those wanting to recover. This book also addresses the concerns of those close to the offender. If you have been thrown into having to deal with child sexual abuse, you will find answers to many of your questions. What you can or should expect from the legal system, from therapy, from social welfare department is discussed. It addresses such questions as "Why didn't I see it?" or "How could they!?!" in a light seldom revealed. Some questions as "Will I ever be 'normal'?" or "Will anyone ever be able to love me for who I really am?" are on the minds of offenders and victims. Some of these answers lie within this book. A very fundamental area facing the issue and treatment of sexual abuse is gender. Historically, the male is the stereotypical abuser and the female is the stereotypical victim. This is one of the many myths of childhood sexual abuse. Female child molestors make up almost 40% of the child molesting population. For every two girls sexually abused slightly more than one boy is abused. While the book was written with stereotypical male offender in mind, it can be used by female child molestors and male victims. This book tries to address the gender problem by avoiding gender terms unless appropriate. Avoiding gender terms is not possible without some redefinition of the use of pronouns. The only non-gender singular possessive pronoun is its. This is also a non-human possessive term and inappropriate in describing the issues of already wounded individuals. The non-gender pronouns used throughout this book are they, them, their which are normally used as plural forms. In this book, these terms are used as non-gender singular as well as non-gender plural forms. While this is not proper usage, the narrative is easier to read than if the alternate forms of s/he or he/she or his/hers were used. There is no easy solution to this problem. Examples and experiences used to demonstrate a point may be a composite of experiences from various victims and offenders. The names used have been changed unless permission was granted otherwise. Gender terms used in the examples are correct. Abstr

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fear was not part of God's original agenda for his creation. It slithered onto the scene when Adam and Eve sinned, causing a tear in their relationship with God. And even though fear touches every life and can still debilitate people today, the news isn't all bad. Popular speaker and author Grace Fox demonstrates how believers can face their fear and actually let it be a catalyst for change. Readers will learn how to stop hiding from God and instead develop a deeper relationship with Him. This is what she calls "the upside of fear": When we cry out to God for help, He answers, and we experience Him in new ways. Each chapter highlights a particular area where readers can begin to experience freedom from fears about their personal identity, their finances, their kids, the future, and more.

The cycle repeats itself until someone chooses a better way. Second, this book is a passionate plea to open your eyes to what has happened to our nation. We have the power to change where our nation is headed. We must unite and take action now to stop the impending destruction of our nation before it is too late!

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Authors from eighteen countries give us their perspectives on biblical principles and cultural expressions of spirituality particularly as the church engages in God’s mission. The anthology of texts enriches our understanding of the depth and the meaning of being spiritual and the diversity of forms to live out the Christian faith. The issue today is how spirituality should direct and guide a daily life as followers of Jesus in the engagement in the mission of God. No doubt that it has to do with our inner life and our relationship to God, but it is in showing our love and concern to others that we prove our love to God, according to the Apostle John (1 John 4). Mission without spirituality will only be a human effort to convince people of religious theories. Spirituality without a missionary involvement of the church will not express God’s desire that the transforming gospel reaches every person. This book will help you rethink your understanding of what is spiritual, revisit your own spiritual journey, and appreciate the different forms of spirituality as they are described and performed around the globe.

Book The Untold Story

Download or read book The Untold Story written by Rebecca Kaddi and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2014-06-30 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Author and writer, Rebecca Kaddi, has a passion for saving souls and building marriages. In this book, she provides a true account of how Satan used his agent in the church to destroy marriages and Christians. She explains that as a sign for the end times, deception is on the riseeven in the churches. Deception is no longer dark for you to be able to distinguish easily. It appears just as written in 2 Corinthians 11: 13-14 "For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into apostles of Christ. And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light" (NKJV). It is now very difficult to tell the difference between righteous and unrighteous, good and evil, clean and unclean, holy and unholy, and sacred and secular. The false prophets select the parts of the scripture that will support their philosophical and psychological intentions, and deceive many into thinking that they are real. It is time for men and women to guide themselves with the spirit of discernment. This book reveals what to watch for so that you do not fall into their traps. They generally do not preach salvation. They may call the name of God and Christ but will never want you to be saved. They make you feel good and comfortable and never challenge you to come out of your sins and submit to God.
