Book A Flame Beyond the Darkness of Pain

Download or read book A Flame Beyond the Darkness of Pain written by Emily Owusu-Sekyere and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-12-28 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In her book A Flame beyond the Darkness of Pain (A Widows Wilderness Worship Sound), Emily bares the innermost part of her soul as she openly and honestly shares her story with her readers. Her testimonies in the book run parallel with Biblical examples. It is a book of encouragement, teaching and hope but also a warning of the pitfalls that preconceived ideas can make one fall into. Emily places her husband in his rightful place as the head and spiritual leader of the home and the love she has for him runs through her narrative. She effectively does away with stigmas, cultures and traditions which tend to define who we are and points to Christ as the One who defines who we really are. Emily allows widows to understand that they are not inferior but that God has elevated the widow. He becomes their husband and they no longer keep their eyes fixed on their loss but on their Creator. This is a must read for everyone, especially for widows who so often struggle to come to terms with the loss of their husbands. It is also a very helpful resource to married couples as they discover the true meaning of marriage and the importance of placing God at the centre of their lives. Download or read book Tongues of Flame written by Dawn Langman and published by Temple Lodge Publishing. This book was released on 2019-05-03 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Building on her fundamental texts The Art of Acting and The Art of Speech, Dawn Langman shows how the great dramas of Western heritage illuminate the evolution of human consciousness – from the past and into the future – thus providing a context in which actors can consciously evolve their art. Having laid her foundation by exploring the Eleusis Mysteries – the seed point of Western drama – she moves to the end of the nineteenth century, when drama and performance practice prepared for its next great evolutionary leap. She explores the connection of this leap to the evolutionary threshold facing human beings at the end of what occult history calls Kali Yuga. Weaving back and forth between future, past and present – guided by the great cyclic themes of human soul and spiritual development – Langman shows how the inspiration of our greatest artists springs from a source of knowing that encompasses the high calling of the human being to mature beyond its biological inheritance, and to become a conscious co-creator with the macrocosmic powers that serve the evolution of the universe. In doing so, she clarifies the specific function drama has in our contemporary development within the spectrum of the arts. ‘Building on the first two books of this extraordinary series, Langman’s meta-historical analysis of drama lays the foundation for her ongoing explorations into an art of acting that takes fully into account the multidimensional nature of the human being. Here, she masterfully contextualizes the 20th century contributions of Rudolf Steiner and Michael Chekhov within the broad trajectory of the Western dramatic and theatrical tradition’. – Dr Diane Caracciolo, Associate Professor of Educational Theatre, Adelphi University, USA 'Mapping a meta-history of Western Drama, Langman unfolds a pathway for “future” actors and those who seek an understanding of the metaphysical in theatre. This work will inspire anyone interested in the psychic and spiritual evolution of human consciousness.’ – Dr Jane Gilmer, freelance theatre practitioner based in New Zealand, teaching internationally

Book Flame and Fortune in the American West

Download or read book Flame and Fortune in the American West written by Gregory Simon and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2017 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Flame and Fortune in the American West creatively and meticulously investigates the ongoing politics, folly, and avarice shaping the production of increasingly widespread yet dangerous suburban and exurban landscapes. The 1991 Oakland Hills Tunnel Fire is used as a starting point to better understand these complex social-environmental processes. The Tunnel Fire is the most destructive fire—in terms of structures lost—in California history. More than 3,000 residential structures burned and 25 lives were lost. Although this fire occurred in Oakland and Berkeley, others like it sear through landscapes in California and the American West that have experienced urban growth and development within areas historically prone to fire. Simon skillfully blends techniques from environmental history, political ecology, and science studies to closely examine the Tunnel Fire within a broader historical and spatial context of regional economic development and natural-resource management, such as the widespread planting of eucalyptus trees as an exotic lure for homeowners and the creation of hillside neighborhoods for tax revenue—decisions that produced communities with increased vulnerability to fire. Simon demonstrates how in Oakland a drive for affluence led to a state of vulnerability for rich and poor alike that has only been exacerbated by the rebuilding of neighborhoods after the fire. Despite these troubling trends, Flame and Fortune in the American West illustrates how many popular and scientific debates on fire limit the scope and efficacy of policy responses. These risky yet profitable developments (what the author refers to as the Incendiary), as well as proposed strategies for challenging them, are discussed in the context of urbanizing areas around the American West and hold global applicability within hazard-prone areas.

Book Flame Dragons of the Korean War

Download or read book Flame Dragons of the Korean War written by Jerry Ravino and published by Turner Publishing Company. This book was released on 2003 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the result of collaboration by Jerry Ravino and Jack Carty, veterans of the Korean War with the Flame Platoon, Headquarters Company, First Tank Battalion, First Marine Division, who did not meet until almost 50 years after what went down in history as the Forgotten War. Although the two former tankers served with the Flame Platoon in different places and different times in that conflict, it is a testament to their determination to research and record a part of the war that heretofore had not been chronicled in detail. Though it has been some 50 years past the fact, this is their story -- as memory best serves them and others who helped them tell it. Learn more about the FLAME DRAGONS @ www.flamedragons.com.
