Book Beyond Sunday School

Download or read book Beyond Sunday School written by Erica Bertram and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-14 with total page 58 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Research has shown that our time to build on a child's faith is limited; adding to that the mediocrity of the Christian society we live in, it further reiterates the necessity to overflow their hearts with truth. The idea behind this book's series of lessons is to start from the beginning, to explain in detail the Trinity and each part that God plays, developing a deep understanding of each and pointing them directly to His love. The idea is to go beyond what's contained in the average Sunday school lesson. Beyond Sunday School is unique in its approach as it warrants parent involvement by providing them with a handout with each lesson, assisting parents struggling to initiate spiritual discussions at home and further solidifying each lesson. This series of Sunday school lessons was developed alongside the Christian children's book series Spirit Heroes with intent to saturate a generation with the whole truth and make available Holy Spirit power and revelation early in life, paving the way to a successful walk with Christ.

Book excerpt: Sunday school was designed to allow you the opportunity to study the Holy Bible in a small peer based group setting. Occasionally, Sunday school questions and also answers lack enough substance to satisfy everyone's hunger. As Paul demarcated in 1st Corinthians 3:2, "I fed you with milk, not solid food, for you were not ready for it. And even now you are not yet ready..." Some individuals need milk and then at some point everyone needs that of great substances. For your consideration are eight independent essays written with the intention of helping you feed your hunger for God using the Bible as the director. The series Beyond Sunday School attempts to take a self-guided approach, delving beyond the direction a typical Sunday morning class can take those present in a group setting. The questions and answers presented are not intended to be absolute rather challenging enough for you to formulate your own direction. These eight essays have been and are available individually on Amazon.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Much has been written about the "southern lady," that pervasive and enduring icon of antebellum regional identity. But how did the lady get on her pedestal--and were the lives of white southern women always so different from those of their northern contemporaries? In her ambitious new book, Cynthia A. Kierner charts the evolution of the lives of white southern women through the colonial, revolutionary, and early republican eras. Using the lady on her pedestal as the end--rather than the beginning--of her story, she shows how gentility, republican political ideals, and evangelical religion successively altered southern gender ideals and thereby forced women to reshape their public roles. Kierner concludes that southern women continually renegotiated their access to the public sphere--and that even the emergence of the frail and submissive lady as icon did not obliterate women's public role.Kierner draws on a strong overall command of early American and women's history and adds to it research in letters, diaries, newspapers, secular and religious periodicals, travelers' accounts, etiquette manuals, and cookery books. Focusing on the issues of work, education, and access to the public sphere, she explores the evolution of southern gender ideals in an important transitional era. Specifically, she asks what kinds of changes occurred in women's relation to the public sphere from 1700 to 1835. In answering this major question, she makes important links and comparisons, across both time and region, and creates a chronology of social and intellectual change that addresses many key questions in the history of women, the South, and early America.

Book Beyond Transformative Learning in African American Adult Education

Download or read book Beyond Transformative Learning in African American Adult Education written by Gerald D. Redwine and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-11-12 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By exploring how the religious beliefs, scientific knowledge, and social surroundings of African-American sufferers of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) impacts their understanding of the condition, this book develops a new model of effective adult learning. Presenting the findings of rigorous qualitative research undertaken with five individuals with T2DM, this volume considers how individuals’ educational background, their personal experiences, and their relationship with African-American theism have impacted on their efforts to understand and manage the disease. Identification of the social and spiritual dynamics which govern adults’ acceptance of a chronic condition such as diabetes, and their ability to manage the illness according to modern medical principles, informs the development of a new theory of adult learning known as permeated learning. This model, which extends beyond transformative learning to recognize the influence of social constructs specific to African-American communities, will have broad application to adult education and the management of chronic diseases. This scholarly text will be of great interest to graduate and postgraduate students, researchers, academics, and policymakers in the field of adult education, African-American education, transformative learning, lifelong learning, and multicultural education.

Book How to Lead When You Don t Know Where You re Going

This book was released on 2019-09-17 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How do you lead an organization stuck between an ending and a new beginning—when the old way of doing things no longer works but a way forward is not yet clear? Beaumont calls such in-between times liminal seasons—threshold times when the continuity of tradition disintegrates and uncertainty about the future fuels doubt and chaos. In a liminal season it simply is not helpful to pretend we understand what needs to happen next. But leaders can still lead. How to Lead When You Don’t Know Where You’re Going is a practical book of hope for tired and weary leaders who risk defining this era of ministry in terms of failure or loss. It helps leaders stand firm in a disoriented state, learning from their mistakes and leading despite the confusion. Packed with rich stories and real-world examples, Beaumont guides the reader through practices that connect the soul of the leader with the soul of the institution.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christianity in the United States has long been organized around congregations and denominations. However, a different type of organization operating outside of these traditional structures is claiming an increasingly important place in the religious market. The growth of Christian nonprofits, popularly called "parachurch" organizations, has been recognized by churchgoers and social scientists alike as an important development that is transforming the composition and dynamics of American Christianity. The size, resources, and activities of this population have made it the public face of American Christianity and altered the relationship between individuals, churches and denominations. Beyond the Congregation utilizes data on almost 2,000 of the largest and most influential Christian nonprofits in the United States to answer some of the key questions raised by these organizations. What explains the growth of Christian nonprofits? What activities are they pursuing? How are they funded and how do they use those funds? Beyond the Congregation provides a much needed examination of these issues that is accessible and informative for scholars, nonprofit executives, religious leaders and the general public.

Download or read book The Front Line of the Sunday School Movement written by Rev. F. N. Peloubet and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-09 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Front Line of the Sunday School Movement: The Line of the Vanguard of Sunday School Progress, With a Glimpse of Ideals Beyond When my long-time friend the president of Bangor Theological Seminary requested me to give a course of Lectures on the Sunday School to the students, two reasons were especially influential in deciding me to accept his invitation. The first was a desire to express in some degree the gratitude I owe to this Seminary for the training I received at its hands. Not the least of the providential blessings which have come unexpectedly into my life was the loving guidance which brought me to Bangor and its Theological Seminary: I congratulate the Seminary for its high ideals, for setting them before the students and saying: "There is the portrait of the minister whom the churches need, and whom they want. He stands continually before you - study him; set your faces in that direction; the whole training of the seminary course is to help you to become that man." I congratulate the students on their privilege of entering the ministry. The greatest joy a life-work can bring belongs to the Preacher who preaches the Gospel because he loves the Gospel, loves its Giver, and loves his fellow-men.
