Book excerpt: With so much artificial intelligence (AI) in the headlines, it is no surprise that businesses are scrambling to exploit this exciting and transformative technology. Clearly, those who are the first to deliver business-relevant AI will gain significant advantage. However, there is a problem! Our perception of AI success in society is primarily based on our experiences with consumer applications from the big web companies. The adoption of AI in the enterprise has been slow due to various challenges. Business applications address far more complex problems and the data needed to address them is less plentiful. There is also the critical need for alignment of AI with relevant business processes. In addition, the use of AI requires new engineering practices for application maintenance and trust. So, how do you deliver working AI applications in the enterprise? Beyond Algorithms: Delivering AI for Business answers this question. Written by three engineers with decades of experience in AI (and all the scars that come with that), this book explains what it takes to define, manage, engineer, and deliver end-to-end AI applications that work. This book presents: Core conceptual differences between AI and traditional business applications A new methodology that helps to prioritise AI projects and manage risks Practical case studies and examples with a focus on business impact and solution delivery Technical Deep Dives and Thought Experiments designed to challenge your brain and destroy your weekends

Kamins, Chemist and leading authority in helping women's skin look healthy and beautiful. In Beyond Botox, Kaminsky provides a groundbreaking 7-step plan to help skin look younger and sexier...without Botox or surgical procedures. The book's plan is based in science and targeted specifically to women who are searching for a common-sense alternative to eating fish 6 days a week (a la Perricone). This plan includes scientific secrets on how exercising too vigorously can rob your skin of vitality; how getting 8 hours' sleep for a week will take years off your skin; and how using the right amount of moisturizer (and the right weight of moisturizer) will actually make a difference in how your skin looks and feels. Beyond Botox will not advocate use of only B. Kamins products. Kaminsky will talk about popular products and how to find creams that will make a difference on your skin type. B. Kamins, Chemist has established itself as THE skincare brand for women in midlife, and this book will establish itself as THE book for women who want vital-looking skin in midlife and beyond.

The book concludes that the gaps can be addressed only to a limited extent under the current international legal framework; however, the prospective international legally binding instrument (ILBI) on the conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction (BBNJ) might well make further contributions.

Book Observatories in Earth Orbit and Beyond

Download or read book Observatories in Earth Orbit and Beyond written by Y. Kondo and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 537 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When I became President of International Astronomical Union Commission 44 for the triennial period 1985-1988, several members of the Organizing Committee and I agreed that it would be a good idea for our Commission to host a conference on observatories in space in view of their increasingly important role in astronomi cal research. IAU Colloquium Number 123 "Observatories in Earth Orbit and Beyond" is the first colloquium sponsored by IAU Com mission 44 on Astronomy from Space, although Commission 44 has co-sponsored numerous colloquia and symposia in the past. The past two decades have seen a flourishing of astronomical observatories in space. Over a dozen orbiting observatories have opened up a new window on the universe, providing hitherto una vailable data in the electromagnetic spectral range from gamma-ray, X-ray, ultraviolet to infrared and radio. This has clearly demon strated the crucial nature of astronomical observations from space. The invited talks of present colloquium consist primarily of reviews of currently operating observatories in space, future observatories that have been approved by sponsoring government or space agencies, the launch systems of U.S.A., E.S.A., U.S.S.R. and Japan, discussions of various orbits and sites (such as the Moon), and alternate approaches in designing space observatories. Several panel discus sions addressed those issues as well as the major unsolved problems of astronomy. Contributed poster papers included descriptions of space observatories that are in planning stage.
