Book National Airspace System longterm capacity planning needed despite recent reduction in flight delays

Download or read book National Airspace System longterm capacity planning needed despite recent reduction in flight delays written by and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 2001 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, airline flight delays have been among the most vexing problems in the national transportation system. They reached unprecedented levels in 2000, when one flight in four was delayed. Although bad weather has historically been the main cause of delays, a growing reason has been the inability of the nations air transport system to efficiently absorb all of the aircraft trying to use limited airspace or trying to take off or land at busy airports. Recent events most notably the terrorist attacks on buildings in New York City and Washington, D.C., using hijacked airliners, and the economic slowdown that preceded these attacks have changed the extent of the delay problem, at least for the short term. With many airlines cutting their flights by 20 percent or more, the air transport system is having less difficulty absorbing the volume of flights. Whether the volume of flights will continue at these lowered levels is unknown. However, it is likely that a more robust economy and less public apprehension about flying will lead to renewed demands on the air transport system. If so, concerns about delays and the actions being taken to address them may once again command national attention.

Book Corporate Branding in Logistics and Transportation

Download or read book Corporate Branding in Logistics and Transportation written by Nor Aida Abdul Rahman and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2024-03-05 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The academic and scholarly interest in the subject of branding in both the consumer and industrial markets has grown substantially in the dynamic post-pandemic environment. The growth in research outputs by a handful of business scholars explains the impact of brand in an industrial business-to-business setting at the cognitive level only and has not considered its impact specifically on logistics and transportation despite the value it can offer. Considering these gaps in the periphery of our existing knowledge, this book explores corporate brand management within the logistics and transportation sector, from the perspective of image, reputation, and identity. This edited collection offers a blend of comprehensive and extensive high quality research from global, highly reputed contributors. It covers issues related to the establishment of brands, relevant niches such as service performance and social support, aviation and maritime industries, media relations, crisis branding, and innovation. Exploring a wide range of sectors within logistics and transport, the book illustrates the many dimensions of corporate branding and theories, future trends and developments, as well as proposing a model for future research. Containing a balance of theory and practice with effective case studies, Corporate Branding in Logistics and Transportation will appeal to marketing academics and upper-level graduates in particular. It will also be a valuable resource for those studying or researching logistics, supply chain management, and transport studies.

Book Airline Industry

Download or read book Airline Industry written by Nawal K. Taneja and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-06-23 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many business sectors have been, and are being, forced to compete with new competitors-disrupters of some sort-who have found new ways to create and deliver new value for customers often through the use of technology that is coupled with a new underlying production or business model, and/or a broad array of partners, including, in some cases, customers themselves. Think about the disruption created by Apple by the introduction of the iPod and iTunes, and by Netflix within the entertainment sectors using partners within the ecosystem; think of Uber that didn’t build an app around the taxi business but rather built a mobility business around the app to improve customer experience. Airline Industry considers whether the airline industry is poised for disruptive innovations from inside or outside of the industry. Although airlines have a long history of continuous improvements and innovation, few of their innovations can be classified as disruptive innovations. The few disruptive innovations that did emerge were facilitated, for example by new technology (jet aircraft) and government policy (deregulation). Now there are new forces in play-customers who expect to receive products that are more personalized and experience-based throughout the entire journey, new customer interfaces (via social media), advanced information systems and analytics, financially powerful airlines based in emerging nations, and the rise of unencumbered entrepreneurs who think differently as well as platform-focused integrators.
