This book was released on 2015-07-01 with total page 1014 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Original research on performance of materials under a wide variety of blasts, impacts, severe loading and fireCritical information for protecting buildings and civil infrastructure against human attack, deterioration and natural disastersTest and design data for new types of concrete, steel and FRP materials This technical book is devoted to the empirical and theoretical analysis of how structures and the materials constituting them perform under the extreme conditions of explosions, fire, and impact. Each of the 119 fully refereed presentations is published here for the first time and was selected because of its original contribution to the science and engineering of how materials, bridges, buildings, tunnels and their components, such as beams and pre-stressed parts, respond to potentially destructive forces. Emphasis is placed on translating empirical data to design recommendations for strengthening structures, including strategies for fire and earthquake protection as well as blast mitigation. Technical details are provided on the development and behavior of new resistant materials, including reinforcements, especially for concrete, steel and their composites.

Book Probability Based High Temperature Engineering

Download or read book Probability Based High Temperature Engineering written by Leo Razdolsky and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-08-18 with total page 656 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume on structural fire resistance is for aerospace, structural, and fire prevention engineers; architects, and educators. It bridges the gap between prescriptive- and performance-based methods and simplifies very complex and comprehensive computer analyses to the point that the structural fire resistance and high temperature creep deformations will have a simple, approximate analytical expression that can be used in structural analysis and design. The book emphasizes methods of the theory of engineering creep (stress-strain diagrams) and mathematical operations quite distinct from those of solid mechanics absent high-temperature creep deformations, in particular the classical theory of elasticity and structural engineering. Dr. Razdolsky’s previous books focused on methods of computing the ultimate structural design load to the different fire scenarios. The current work is devoted to the computing of the estimated ultimate resistance of the structure taking into account the effect of high temperature creep deformations. An essential resource for aerospace structural engineers who wish to improve their understanding of structure exposed to flare up temperatures and severe fires, the book also serves as a textbook for introductory courses in fire safety in civil or structural engineering programs, vital reading for the PhD students in aerospace fire protection and structural engineering, and a case study of a number of high-profile fires (the World Trade Center, Broadgate Phase 8, One Meridian Plaza; Mandarin Towers). Probability Based High Temperature Engineering: Creep and Structural Fire Resistance successfully bridges the information gap between aerospace, structural, and engineers; building inspectors, architects, and code officials.

Book FIP CEB Recommendations tor the design of reinforced and prestressed concrete structural members tor fire resistance

Download or read book FIP CEB Recommendations tor the design of reinforced and prestressed concrete structural members tor fire resistance written by FIB – International Federation for Structural Concrete and published by FIB - International Federation for Structural Concrete. This book was released on 1975-06-01 with total page 21 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first draft recommendations for the design both of reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete structural members in regard to fire resistance were presented for discussion at the Sixth FIP Congress held in Prague in 1970 at an open meeting of the FIP Commission on Fire Resistance under the Chairmanship of Professor K. Kordina. These have been subsequently discussed and elaborated at meetings of the Commission in Paris, Brunswick and London and a final draft was agreed at the Seventh FIP Congress held in New York in 1974 for the publication to include both normal dense and lightweight concrete. The inclusion of reinforced concrete has been at the special request of CEB who had expressed a wish for detailed recommendations to be available for inclusion in their next revision of the CEB/FIP International Recommendations for the design of Concrete Structures. The recommendations give detailed advice to the practising engineer on how to design structural elements to withstand the standard fire loads for stated periods which may be prescribed by building authorities on a national scale. The values given are safe values based on the results of research and testing on individual elements in a standard furnace. Analytica! methods of assessment of fire resistance are being developed which take into account the interaction of structural members and these may well lead to further economy. Further investigations of the effects of continuity and end-restraint by the Commission may enable these recommendations to be revised in the future.
