Book Once Upon a Time There Was a Three Year Old Grandpa

Download or read book Once Upon a Time There Was a Three Year Old Grandpa written by David Janzen and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2024-07-18 with total page 229 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This eccentric title recalls a collection of tales first told to grandchildren at bedtime. Each chapter begins with a fun-to-read farmer-boy story from the 1940s, an era before industrial farming when horses, cows, and chickens were still members of the family. These anecdotes each launch a theme that splashes down with further development in later decades of life. Diverse topics include imaginative play, construction crew humor, animal intelligence, contemplative prayer and journal writing, rural and urban farming, communal wisdom, and affordable housing, along with a few serious pranks and the prophetic mischief that follows. This memoir is also a confession in the pattern of Augustine, reflecting on God's in-breaking initiatives and the writer's emerging sense of calling in lifelong conversation with Jesus. Its stories offer a series of curiosity-driven on-ramps into eight decades of transformative experiences for curious souls to ponder an open-eyed faith and a communal way of life for the long haul.

Book Good News I Failed a Story of Inventing in Minnesota

Download or read book Good News I Failed a Story of Inventing in Minnesota written by D. P. Cornelius and published by Hillcrest Publishing Group. This book was released on 2011-12 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dreams - sometimes they change the world, sometimes they just plain fall through. Over the course of a weekend at grandpa's farm near Luverne, Minnesota, 14-year-old Josh Lindstrom gets in touch with his dreams as they spend their time inventing, and grandpa relates the stories of some of the great Minnesota inventors. Success, however, does not come easily. So, is there anything to be learned from the inventors that preceded them, especially those of the aptly named Greatest Generation? Josh and his grandpa discover together that when it comes to dreams of inventing, failure is okay. As Minnesota inventor Earl Bakken had said, "Failure is closer to success than inaction." Some surprises are revealed along the way, and the unexpected ending soars with a heartfelt and compelling, once-in-a-lifetime, encounter. An appendix featuring profiles of the Minnesota 80 serves as a resource of the state's key inventors.

Book Breathing Life Into Family Ancestors

Download or read book Breathing Life Into Family Ancestors written by Delbert Ritchhart and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2011-09-01 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Realizing that crests are really assigned to a specific individual and not a family, I have still chosen to show the crests that are associated with the O’Malleys and Ritschharts. The O’Malley crest is a prominent fixture in any of the Irish Heraldry shops and I personally observed in inside the Catholic Abbey on Clare Island just off the coast of Westport in County Mayo. The Abbey dates back to the mid-15th century. The inscription at the bottom of the O’Malley crest translates to “Valiant by Sea and Land”. I observed the Ritschhart crest on a large wooden mural in the Church in Hilterfingen, Switzerland. The Ritschhart name and crest appears 8 times on the mural, donated in 1731 by 32 prominent families in the area.

  • ISBN : 9781425726775
  • Pages : 276 pages

Download or read book Full Medical written by Steven M. Moore and published by Xlibris. This book was released on 2006-11 with total page 276 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is 2053. We are halfway into the bioengineering century. Miraculous medical advances have extended life spans for some but the correlation between health and wealth, existing even at the turn of the century, has become so extreme that many in the United States cannot afford full medical coverage. Periodic terrorist attacks are the aftermath of three wars in the Middle East. These problems and others have poisoned the body politic. A small group of well-meaning government and industry leaders, who believed they had the right answers to these problems, came together twenty years earlier to ensure that they would stay in power as long as possible. This novel is about how that plan goes terribly wrong. The plan starts unraveling when three young people escape from a secret government laboratory. One makes it all the way to the Philippines. The other two do not even get out of the country. All three are young look-alikes of important public figures. The cover-up begins with a murder in Maryland. An e-zine crime reporter, a Boston cop, and an expert in transplant rejection come together to solve the mystery. As the maelstrom sucks them in, it is not clear which government agency can be trusted nor how high the conspiracy goes. In "Full Medical" the reader is introduced to a frightening future world that is extrapolated from today's post 9/11 events.
