Book Die Parzival berlieferung Am Ausgang Des Manuskriptzeitalters

Download or read book Die Parzival berlieferung Am Ausgang Des Manuskriptzeitalters written by Gabriel Viehhauser-Mery and published by Walter de Gruyter. This book was released on 2009 with total page 585 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The outstanding literary significance of Wolfram von Eschenbach's Parzival is due in no small part to the fact that this romance from the courtly golden age was still being repeatedly copied at the close of the Middle Ages and was even printed. The monograph examines four manuscripts and early prints from this time of transition in written media in the 15th century; on the one hand, the texts prove significant for textual history through their dependence on the early version *m, largely neglected now, and on the other, the novel layouts used are expressive of their epoch."--Publisher's website.

Book Constructing Tradition

Download or read book Constructing Tradition written by Andreas Kilcher and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2010-10-30 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The question of constructing tradition, concepts of origin, and memory as well as techniques and practices of knowledge transmission, are central for cultures in general. In esotericism, however, such questions and techniques play an outstanding role and are widely reflected upon, in its literature. Esoteric paradigms not only understand themselves in elaborated mytho-poetical narratives as bearers of “older”, “hidden”, “higher” knowledge. They also claim their knowledge to be of a particular origin. And they claim this knowledge has been transmitted by particular (esoteric) means, media and groups. Consequently, esotericism not only involves the construction of its own tradition; it can even be understood as a specific form of tradition and transmission. The various studies of the present voume, which contains the papers of a conference held in Tübingen in July 2007, provide an overview of the most important concepts and ways of constructing tradition in esotericism.

Book Religi ses Lernen in der biblischen fr hj dischen und fr hchristlichen berlieferung

Download or read book Religi ses Lernen in der biblischen fr hj dischen und fr hchristlichen berlieferung written by Beate Ego and published by Mohr Siebeck. This book was released on 2005 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: English summary: This volume contains sixteen articles, written by German scholars and scholars from other countries, who took part in an international research symposium at the University of Osnabruck in 2003. The individual studies of Old and New Testament traditions and of ancient Jewish and early Christian literature focus on completely different aspects of learning. In addition to explanations concerning the practical experience of learning, for which learning something off by heart was of considerable significance, the personal and social aspects of learning processes were also of great importance. One learns from a teacher, and learning together in turn integrates the individual into the traditional community. Reference is also made to the theological-ritual dimension of learning, since learning is described as a way of encountering God, and teaching can be seen as an act of divine proof of grace. The order of the individual essays results in interesting perspectives for the history of the tradition of Jewish and Christian concepts of learning.

Book Between the Living and the Dead

Download or read book Between the Living and the Dead written by ?va P¢cs and published by Central European University Press. This book was released on 1999-01-01 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The author, one of the most highly respected scholars of historical anthropology, has undertaken extensive research on folk beliefs related to communication with the supernatural sphere. In this book, she examines the systems of such communication known by early modern Hungarians, and the role these systems played in the everyday life of the village. New types of mediators are identified such as "the neighborhood witch, " the healing witch, and the demons seen in dreams. Representing a major contribution to the most up-to-date international research, Eva Pocs draws on significant East European material and literature not previously coordinated with that from the West. In so doing, she makes a valuable contribution to a subject that has recently attracted the attention of several leading scholars.
