Book Knowing with New Media

Download or read book Knowing with New Media written by Lena Redman and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-11-21 with total page 290 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This cutting edge book considers how advances in technologies and new media have transformed our perception of education, and focuses on the impact of the privatisation of digital tools as a mean of knowledge production. Arguing that education needs to adapt to the modern learner, the book’s unique approach is based on a disassociation with the deeply ingrained attitude with which people have traditionally viewed education – learning the existing symbolic systems of certain disciplines and then expressing themselves strictly within the operational modes of these systems. The ways of knowledge production – exploring, recording, representing, making meaning of and sharing human experiences – have been fundamentally transformed through the infusion of digital technologies into all aspects of human activity, allowing learners to engage with their immediate natural, social and cultural environments by capitalising on their individual abilities and interests. This book proposes a new approach to teaching and learning termed ‘cinematic bricolage’, which involves generating knowledge from heterogeneous resources in a ‘do-it-yourself’ manner while making meaning through multimodal representations. It shows how cinematic bricolage reconnects ways of knowing with ways of being, empowering the individual with a sense of personal identity and responsibility, helping to shape more aware social citizens.

After meeting three others who also find similar necklaces, the Cifra lead them to a farmer who also proves to hold many more secrets from times altered out of Anelthalien's memory. Once the farmer begins recalling the past and linking Kindle and the three others to it, Kindle realizes that returning home may not be as easy or as important as she believes. In fact, none of them expect the necklaces will tie them to not only an almost forgotten past but a gilded present and possibly disastrous future. Anelthalien provides an approachable, enchanting picture of the difficult, destructive problem of apathy toward God so that readers readily realize the problem does exist and that they must leave their preoccupations and misconceptions to follow God. Book Screening Sandy Hook

    Book Details:
  • Author : Deanna Spingola
  • Publisher : Trafford Publishing
  • Release : 2015-02-03
  • ISBN : 1490754385
  • Pages : 371 pages

Download or read book Screening Sandy Hook written by Deanna Spingola and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2015-02-03 with total page 371 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Most parents would never consider dispensing deadly addictive street drugs to their children but if a trusted physician writes a prescription for an FDA-approved schedule 2 medication for their two-year old based on some questionable mental health screening, those unwary parents do not question or object. Despite side effect warnings, regularly revealed during TV ads, parents frequently fail to take those warnings seriously, perhaps presuming that the side effects are happenstance or rarely occur. Over the decades, because organized psychiatry, represented by the American Psychiatric Association (APA), convened numerous consensus panels that designed hundreds of non-biologically-based disorders for its Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) especially suitable for the pill-for-every-ill pharmaceutical industry that conceivably already had many profitable solutions for the disorders, in the pre-production process. The consequences have been disastrous with no discernable end in sight some people taking prescription drugs or withdrawing from them have perpetrated school, mall and public shootings. That is in addition to thousands of suicides that the public never hears about, unless the victim is a well-known public figure like Robin Williams. Just the military-related suicide rate is 8,000 per year untold numbers of these are the result of the psych drug cocktails doled out by psychiatrists working for the VA. The government is big pharmas largest customer. In addition to the homicides and suicides, irreversible brain damage results from drug remedies to temporary problems that might have been easily resolved through compassionate interaction and talk therapy. Despite the claims that drugs were not a factor in the Sandy Hook mass murders, certain circumstances provide a different picture. Adam Lanza, always a unique individual, changed from being a geeky, weird kid to being a mass murderer, not of people his own age, but of beautiful, vulnerable children feeling secure in their classrooms in a sleepy bedroom community in Connecticut.

Book How Space Physics Really Works

Download or read book How Space Physics Really Works written by Andrew May and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-06-28 with total page 156 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a huge gulf between the real physics of space travel and the way it is commonly portrayed in movies and TV shows. That’s not because space physics is difficult or obscure – most of the details were understood by the end of the 18th century – but because it can often be bafflingly counter-intuitive for a general audience. The purpose of this book isn’t to criticize or debunk popular sci-fi depictions, which can be very entertaining, but to focus on how space physics really works. This is done with the aid of numerous practical illustrations taken from the works of serious science fiction authors – from Jules Verne and Arthur C. Clarke to Larry Niven and Andy Weir – who have taken positive pleasure in getting their scientific facts right.
