Book BEHIND CLOSED DOORS REAL MEN REAL ISSUES REAL CONVERSATIONS REAL SOLUTIONS

Download or read book BEHIND CLOSED DOORS REAL MEN REAL ISSUES REAL CONVERSATIONS REAL SOLUTIONS written by Marquis L. Cooper and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2020-10-12 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to save our men has been a topic of discussion that has taken place in schools, churches, community centers, social justice platforms, national initiatives, and other venues across this country for years. At some point in history, a seed of irresponsibility grew in our males. As a result of this seed still growing and getting out of control, many of our sons will not understand the vital role of becoming the priest, provider, and protector of their homes unless we change this epidemic now. You may be asking, “How do we change this epidemic?” The answer to this question starts with shifting the male back into his proper or rightful position in the household. Whether you realize it or not, the male was created to lead. In many homes across America, the family structure now looks like the following: You have the son (in an unknown spot), mother (in the father’s spot), daughter (behind her mother out of her spot), and the father (totally removed from the family; he has no spot). When this style of familial transfer takes place, it has a profound effect on the entire family unit, but mostly with the male. We can no longer make excuses for not reaching back to save our men; both the young and old. Through the power of being REAL and TRANSPARENT we can save the lives of countless males of all ethnic groups in this generation. If you’ve picked up this curriculum, then you’ve already answered the first call God has extended to you. I believe your life is being changed now as you prepare to not just read this book, but to hear the voice of the Lord. The time is NOW!!! IT’S DAYTIME!!

Book Lightning Men

    Book Details:
  • Author : Thomas Mullen
  • Publisher : Simon and Schuster
  • Release : 2017-09-12
  • ISBN : 1501138812
  • Pages : 459 pages

Download or read book Lightning Men written by Thomas Mullen and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2017-09-12 with total page 459 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From the acclaimed author of “the most compelling new series in crime fiction” (Michael Koryta, New York Times bestselling author) comes “a sharply observed novel” (New York Times) that explores race, law enforcement, and justice in mid-century Atlanta. Officer Denny Rakestraw and “Negro Officers” Lucius Boggs and Tommy Smith have their hands full in an overcrowded and rapidly changing Atlanta. It’s 1950 and racial tensions are simmering as black families, including Smith’s sister, begin moving into formerly all-white neighborhoods. When Rake’s brother-in-law launches a scheme to rally the Ku Klux Klan to “save” their neighborhood, his efforts spiral out of control, forcing Rake to choose between loyalty to family or the law. Across town, Boggs and Smith try to shut down the supply of white lightning and drugs into their territory, finding themselves up against more powerful foes than they’d expected. Battling corrupt cops and ex-cons, Nazi brown shirts and rogue Klansmen, the officers are drawn closer to the fires that threaten to consume the city once again. With echoes of Walter Mosley and Dennis Lehane, Mullen “expands the boundaries of crime fiction, weaving in eye-opening details from our checkered history” (Chicago Tribune).

Book Male Sexuality Under Surveillance

Download or read book Male Sexuality Under Surveillance written by Graham Thompson and published by University of Iowa Press. This book was released on 2005-04 with total page 271 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Male Sexuality under Surveillance is a lively, intelligent, and expertly argued analysis of the construction of male sexuality in the business office. Graham Thompson interweaves three main threads: a historicized cultural analysis of the development of the modern business office from its beginnings in the early nineteenth century to the present day, a Foucauldian discussion of the office as the site of various disciplinary practices, and a queer-theoretical discussion of the textualization of the gay male body as a device for producing a taxonomy of male-male relations. The combination of these themes produces a study that is fresh, insightful, and provocative.

Book More Worlds to Negotiate

Download or read book More Worlds to Negotiate written by Jennifer C. Berkshire and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2019-09-24 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: John Dunlop assumed the office of secretary of labor with a stern warning about the creeping menace of over-regulation. A mounting tide of red tape was creating a backlash among the people who were on the receiving end of all of these rules, breeding a climate of hostility that would make it all but impossible to solve the nation’s most pressing problems. Dunlop’s cautionary words, delivered nearly five decades ago, seem eerily prescient today as resentment against elites fuels a right-wing populist rebellion in the US and beyond. Yet even as he feared for the future, Dunlop was intent on demonstrating that it was possible to craft lasting solutions to seemingly intractable problems: soaring health-care costs; racial inequity in the workplace and higher education; the lack of basic labor protections for whole categories of workers; and the loss of manufacturing jobs to globalization and automation. Whatever the specific problem he was called upon to help solve, Dunlop began with the view that no matter the intensity of the divide, getting people talking was absolutely key to crafting an enduring solution. In our own era of discord and fracture, Dunlop’s insights into the vital importance of talking, listening and persuading as a means of working through complicated social issues are more relevant than ever. Drawing on Dunlop’s personal diary and extensive interviews with his colleagues and co-workers, this volume reconstructs key examples of Dunlop’s problem-solving work. A portrayal of his work and legacy, the book functions as a how-to guide for applying Dunlop’s approach to problem solving to the urgent challenges that confront us today.

Conceived by acclaimed novelist Walter Mosley and sponsored by the New York University Africana Studies Program and the Institute of African American Affairs, this book originated as a series of community conversations where "visionaries with solutions" shared powerful views on personal and communal struggles, triumphs, and aspirations. The list of contributors suggests the range of perspectives and talents brought to bear on such issues as economics, political power, work, authority, and culture. Black Genius is a point of departure for vigorous discussion of our current realities and goals for the future-and a portrait of "genius" that leads the way to enriching American life in the twenty-first century.

Book excerpt: What does not happen in politics can be as important as what does happen. This was the case when my friend Mitch Daniels, then Indianas much-admired governor, decided against seeking the Republicans 2012 presidential nomination. This book is a fascinating look at the interplay of the personal and the political, a story of one of modern historys might-have-beens. George Will Syndicated Columnist This is a fascinating history of the eight people who worked tirelessly to bring to life a 2012 presidential candidacy on behalf of Governor Mitch Daniels. Highly competent, accomplished, visionary and with an extraordinary common touch but lacking an ego driven ambition- the perfect anti-Obama- Daniels could have been a game changing candidate had he chosen to run. Reading this story, it is hard not to conclude that the country would have been the real beneficiary of a Daniels candidacy. Patrick H. Caddell Fox News Contributor Pollster and Political Strategist The increasingly pernicious nature of our political campaigns and media coverage of candidates is driving some of our most talented people out of the process. Run Mitch, Run takes readers behind the scenes on just one such case, and why then-Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, one of the most qualified people to lead our country, decided that his love of family took precedence over his willingness to seek the presidency and serve the country. Charlie Cook Editor and Publisher, The Cook Political Report Political Analyst, National Journal and NBC News Any American , Republican or Democrat, will enjoy this book, but I guarantee you it will also break your heart . Cogman, a corporate and governmental affairs executive, shares a story that deserves to be toldthe story of what it takes to run for President of the United States, the choices a potential candidate faces, and the hard decisions a candidate must make during the process.
