Book Everyone Is A Supermodel Secrets For Any Career Based On My Modelling Experiences

Download or read book Everyone Is A Supermodel Secrets For Any Career Based On My Modelling Experiences written by Keli Lenfield and published by Sixfootone Pty Ltd. This book was released on with total page 86 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A woman’s – or man’s – total package isn’t only about what you look like. Keli Lenfi゙eld learned this lesson firsthand when her Paris modelling agent placed her on an unhealthy diet of orange juice and water. Since then, she has fought to make “diet” a naughty word in her vocabulary and yours. “For whatever reason, we all have something about ourselves we don't like. I figure this is one of the cons of being part of the human race,” she writes in her first book, Everyone Is A Supermodel: Secrets For Any Career Based On My Modelling Experiences. “How we were born gets painted, prodded, wax, buffed and injected to either look like someone else or believe we will be happier when we look in the mirror.” But there is more to making it in life than a body confidence pep talk. You need to impress a potential boss, prepare a positive social media image, craft an impeccable resume and nail a job interview. Invited to an impromptu event where you’ll network further? You need to be ready for that too. Readers can count on additional advice from successful industry professionals, such as Marie Claire Australia’s national advertising manager Anne-Marie Clarke, popular turntable goddess DJ Dakota and London-based PR executive Nicole Crowley.

Book The Investigation and Conservation of a Beaded Chanel Evening Dress Circa 1926 1927

Download or read book The Investigation and Conservation of a Beaded Chanel Evening Dress Circa 1926 1927 written by Bethany Maddalena Viviano and published by . This book was released on 2019 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Due to the fragile nature of the garments, beaded dresses of the 1920s present problems within collections. The fashion for fine, lightweight fabrics with extensive beaded embellishment leaves the contemporary collections manager and conservator with dresses which are fragile and are often found shattering under the weight of their own ornamentation. This capstone project documents the research and conservation of one such ensemble from the private collection of Hamish Bowles. The two study objects for this thesis were a full sleeveless (purported) Chanel dress and a detached similar lower tier which were examined using both material culture and art historical perspectives. The dress itself, each seam, hem and bead, were studied and analyzed allowing further insight into the construction practices of the time and of Chanel. Primary source research was conducted in an effort to place the dress within a specific year and season, as well as to provide an ethical framework for the aesthetic and technical decisions which would form the base of the treatment. It was also concluded from this study that the detached tier was not originally from the accompanying dress as was the preliminary premise. This project records the extensive research and examination of the garment necessary to uncover the mystery of the detached tier and the process by which an appropriate conservation treatment was developed and completed. The record of this intensive investigation will go forward as helpful research for future authentication of Chanel dresses. A conservator must use both cultural, manufacturing, and material information to endeavor to make the best treatment decisions possible, not only for the physical object, but also to preserve the spirit of the design.
