Book An Economic Design of a Group Sampling Plan for a Weibull Distribution Using a Bayesian Approach

Download or read book An Economic Design of a Group Sampling Plan for a Weibull Distribution Using a Bayesian Approach written by Muhammad Aslam and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 7 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this paper, a cost model for a group sampling scheme is proposed for inspection of the lifetime of a product when the lifetime of the product follows a Weibull distribution. The optimal parameters of the group sampling plan are determined by minimizing the total cost and satisfying both the producer's risk and the consumer's risk simultaneously for the specified values of termination time, number of testers, and median ratio as the quality parameter. The application of the proposed plan is given in metrology for the inspection of chip products. We have conducted a comparative study, and it shows that the use of the proposed plan for testing the chips minimized the cost more than the existing acceptance sampling plan. Tables are provided, along with the total cost required for the life test.

Book Sampling Procedures and Tables for Life and Reliability Testing Based on the Weibull Distribution Hazard Rate Criterion

Download or read book Sampling Procedures and Tables for Life and Reliability Testing Based on the Weibull Distribution Hazard Rate Criterion written by and published by . This book was released on 1961 with total page 64 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A proposed acceptance-sampling procedure is presented together with tables of sampling plans for life and reliability testing when the underlying life distribution of items is of the Weibull form. The procedures and plans are for use when inspection of the sample items is by attributes with the life test truncated at some specified time. Lot quality is evaluated in terms of mean item life. A set of conversion factors is provided from which attribute sampling-inspection plans of any desired form may be designed for the Weibull model or from which the operating characteristics of any given plan may be determined. A comprehensive collection of Weibull sampling-inspection plans was designed. Also included are tables of ratios for adapting the Military Standard 105B plans to life testing and reliability applications. In all three of these elements of the study and the report, the exponential model is included as a special case of the Weibull distribution. Both the procedure and plans are for products for which the value for the Weibull shape parameter is known or can be assumed. Conversion factors and tables are provided for a wide range of values for this parameter. (Extracted).

Book Using the Weibull Distribution

Download or read book Using the Weibull Distribution written by John I. McCool and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-08-06 with total page 366 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Understand and utilize the latest developments in Weibull inferential methods While the Weibull distribution is widely used in science and engineering, most engineers do not have the necessary statistical training to implement the methodology effectively. Using the Weibull Distribution: Reliability, Modeling, and Inference fills a gap in the current literature on the topic, introducing a self-contained presentation of the probabilistic basis for the methodology while providing powerful techniques for extracting information from data. The author explains the use of the Weibull distribution and its statistical and probabilistic basis, providing a wealth of material that is not available in the current literature. The book begins by outlining the fundamental probability and statistical concepts that serve as a foundation for subsequent topics of coverage, including: • Optimum burn-in, age and block replacement, warranties and renewal theory • Exact inference in Weibull regression • Goodness of fit testing and distinguishing the Weibull from the lognormal • Inference for the Three Parameter Weibull Throughout the book, a wealth of real-world examples showcases the discussed topics and each chapter concludes with a set of exercises, allowing readers to test their understanding of the presented material. In addition, a related website features the author's own software for implementing the discussed analyses along with a set of modules written in Mathcad®, and additional graphical interface software for performing simulations. With its numerous hands-on examples, exercises, and software applications, Using the Weibull Distribution is an excellent book for courses on quality control and reliability engineering at the upper-undergraduate and graduate levels. The book also serves as a valuable reference for engineers, scientists, and business analysts who gather and interpret data that follows the Weibull distribution

Download or read book Bayesian Reliability written by Michael S. Hamada and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-08-15 with total page 445 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bayesian Reliability presents modern methods and techniques for analyzing reliability data from a Bayesian perspective. The adoption and application of Bayesian methods in virtually all branches of science and engineering have significantly increased over the past few decades. This increase is largely due to advances in simulation-based computational tools for implementing Bayesian methods. The authors extensively use such tools throughout this book, focusing on assessing the reliability of components and systems with particular attention to hierarchical models and models incorporating explanatory variables. Such models include failure time regression models, accelerated testing models, and degradation models. The authors pay special attention to Bayesian goodness-of-fit testing, model validation, reliability test design, and assurance test planning. Throughout the book, the authors use Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) algorithms for implementing Bayesian analyses -- algorithms that make the Bayesian approach to reliability computationally feasible and conceptually straightforward. This book is primarily a reference collection of modern Bayesian methods in reliability for use by reliability practitioners. There are more than 70 illustrative examples, most of which utilize real-world data. This book can also be used as a textbook for a course in reliability and contains more than 160 exercises. Noteworthy highlights of the book include Bayesian approaches for the following: Goodness-of-fit and model selection methods Hierarchical models for reliability estimation Fault tree analysis methodology that supports data acquisition at all levels in the tree Bayesian networks in reliability analysis Analysis of failure count and failure time data collected from repairable systems, and the assessment of various related performance criteria Analysis of nondestructive and destructive degradation data Optimal design of reliability experiments Hierarchical reliability assurance testing

Book Use of the Weibull Distribution in Bayesian Decision Theory

Download or read book Use of the Weibull Distribution in Bayesian Decision Theory written by Richard Martin Soland and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Weibull distribution is useful in analyzing the probabilistic lifetimes of many electrical components and complex systems. It is attractive for Bayesian decision-making because its right-hand cumulative function is of an exponential form which allows all life-test data to be easily incorporated into the decision-making process. Unfortunately no natural conjugate prior distribution exists if both the shape and scale parameters of the Weibull distribution are assumed to be unknown. If the shape parameter is assumed known, however, Bayesian analysis becomes little more difficult than for the exponential distribution, a special case of the Weibull. Prior, posterior, and preposterior analyses are given for the case of known shape parameter. In connection with preposterior analysis several sampling plans are discussed. The paper concludes with an analysis of a problem in optical sampling.

Book Bayesian Analysis of the Weibull Process with Unknown Scale Parameter

Download or read book Bayesian Analysis of the Weibull Process with Unknown Scale Parameter written by Richard M. Soland and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Weibull process with unknown scale parameter is taken as a model for Bayesian decision making. The family of natural conjugate prior distributions for the scale parameter is exhibited and used in prior and posterior analysis. Preposterior analysis and several sampling schemes are then discussed. Preposterior analysis is given for a two-action problem with utility linear in the unknown mean of the Weibull process, in which the sampling scheme yields the first r failures in a life test of n items. An example is included. (Author).
