He was famous for his copious output of works on the military theory and strategy employed during the French Revolution, the Napoleonic Wars, and even those of Frederick the Great. General Kennedy did not, as some of his contemporaries in the British Army did, believe that the Duke of Wellington’s performance was flawless; his reasoned, intricate and balanced narrative is both instructive and entertaining.
