In the media coverage of recent years, the Finnish school system has often been brought into play as a prime example of important educational policy challenges. This is particularly true of the issue of inclusive education. While few studies to date have seriously questioned the Finnish "educational miracle", this book aims to provide an objective account of the current situation in Finland. In doing so, it takes a differentiated and critical look at inclusive schooling in Finland. In order to achieve this, the inclusive school and classroom culture is examined using qualitative research approaches in selected Finnish schools. The building blocks of an inclusive school developed by Reich (2014) are consulted as criteria for analysis. Based on the findings of this study, it is finally examined and discussed what Germany (and other countries) can learn from Finland with regard to the topic of inclusion.

Diese äußert sich nicht zuletzt in Abwehr- und Ausgrenzungstendenzen wie sie aktuell in der Pegida-Bewegung und der AfD-Partei sichtbar werden oder sich in Fremden- und Behindertenfeindlichkeiten manifestieren. Die UN-Behindertenrechtskonvention beförderte die Konjunktur der Inklusion. Der mittlerweile inflationäre Gebrauch führte zu einer begrifflichen Unschärfe dieser sozialen Leitidee. Die vorliegende Habilitationsschrift profiliert mit dem »Prinzip Inklusion« die wissenschaftliche Kontur des Begriffs. Mit der Grundlegung einer interdisziplinären Metatheorie schärft sie den Begriff sprachlich, differenziert seine rechtliche Kontur und arbeitet soziologische Unterscheidungskriterien für die empirische Erforschung inklusiver Prozesse heraus. In pädagogischer Hinsicht wird neben der Anerkennung von Differenz auch die notwendige Veränderung im Sinne einer ethischen Differenzkritik plausibilisiert. In religionspädagogischer Perspektive wird die These der »strukturellen Separationspartizipation« der Wissenschaften entfaltet und die unter anderem theologische Normenklärung des Inklusionsprinzips vorangebracht. Neben der Beschreibung von theoretischen Antinomien und praktischen Dilemmata der Inklusion wird mit fünf präskriptiven und deskriptiven Begriffspaaren das Wesen und die Werte der Inklusion konkretisiert. In (religions-)pädagogischer Perspektive geht es darum, dass das ICH sich bildet, um gemeinsam mit dem DU das WIR zu leben – frei, gleich, gerecht und würdevoll. Die Zielperspektive ist, dass Inklusion als Menschenrecht, als werthaltige Vision und gesellschaftlicher Prozess zum Nutzen der sozialen Teilhabe aller Menschen wirksam wird.

Denn im Unterschied zu den meisten anderen europäischen Ländern war Inklusion hierzulande lange Zeit keine Selbstverständlichkeit. Erst die internationalen Verpflichtungen ermöglichen nun auch in Deutschland praktische Erprobungen und Erfahrungen in der Breite. Der Kern gelingender Inklusion in der Schule liegt dabei im konkreten Unterricht und hier insbesondere in den jeweiligen Unterrichtsfächern. Deshalb haben wir uns das Ziel gesetzt, Inklusion für den Sachunterricht theoretisch fundiert zu begründen und konzeptionelle Grundlagen zu entwickeln, damit inklusiver Sachunterricht machbar wird. In diesem Buch werden drei Grundprinzipien für den inklusiven Sachunterricht entwickelt: 1. Personalität: Anerkennung jedes Kindes und didaktische Orientierung am Kind 2. Sozialität: Dialogisches Lernen, Mitbestimmung und soziale Zugehörigkeit 3. Komplexität: offene und selbstdifferenzierende Aufgaben und Anregungen Diese münden in sieben Dimensionen für den Sachunterricht. Die Dimensionen sind in die Praxismaterialien für inklusiven Sachunterricht eingeflossen und liegen ihnen zugrunde. Sie werden in verschiedenen Themenbereichen konkretisiert, die besonders bedeutsam für das Lernen für alle Kinder im Sachunterricht sind. Dazu zählen Körperthemen, das Handeln mit kleinen Dingen, die Ich-Du-Relation und Inhalte zum Sich-Wundern.
