Download or read book Getting from Babylon to New Jerusalem written by Joseph Adamson and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2003-10-01 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is perhaps the strongest volume so far in the Real Prophecy Unveiled series. It answers and refutes the criticism and accusations that have been leveled at the author by the Religious Right. This book proves the critics wrong. This book discusses the role and function of the Christ and his messenger; the virgin birth myth; the Prophet Daniel's vision; the "Fall of Babylon;" the keys to Ageless Wisdom; the basics of most spiritual disciplines; raising the consciousness of humanity; "original sin" and salvation; the real meaning of religious freedom; the meaning and purpose of prophecy; the new "kingdom" to come; and how we get from this "Babylon" to the "New Jerusalem" of prophecy. It provides even more reasons why the American New Right will fall, discussing the big picture of corporate power; economic and corporate reform; political reality; grossly under-reported or ignored news; the Bush Administration's folly, lies and falsehoods that have misled many people; similar errors of some local politicians; and the unity platform that can help resolve many of our economic problems.

Book Babylon or New Jerusalem

Download or read book Babylon or New Jerusalem written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2016-08-29 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today more than ever literature and the other arts make use of urban structures – it is in the city that the global and universal joins the local and individual. Babylon or New Jerusalem? Perceptions of the City in Literature draws a map of the concept of the city in literature and represents the major issues involved. Contributions to the volume revisit cities such as the London of Wordsworth, Dorothy Richardson and Virginia Woolf or Rilke’s Paris, but also travel to the politics of power in Renaissance theatre at Ferrara and to deliberate urban erasures in post-apartheid South Africa. The texts represented range from Renaissance plays to contemporary novels and to poetry from various periods, with references to the visual arts, including film. The role of memory in contemplating the city and also specific urban metaphors developed in literature, such as boxing – the square ring – and jazz are also discussed. The transformation of cities by legislation on cemeteries, by lighting or by projects of urban renewal are the subject of articles, while others reflect on images of the city in worlds specifically forged by writers like William Blake and James Thomson. The contributors themselves live and work in many varied cities, thus representing a dynamic and real variety of critical approaches, and introducing a strong theoretical and comparative element.

Download or read book Babylon Or Jerusalem written by John J Sweetman and published by Independently Published. This book was released on 2019-02-07 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Book of Revelation shows the climax of the battle between God and Satan - of good and evil. Two cities demonstrate the difference between the Kingdom of God and that of Satan - Jerusalem and Babylon. We are told that Babylon will be destroyed but Jerusalem will thrive and we are commanded to leave Babylon. But it is clear that many of God's people today still live in 'Babylon' without being aware of it. It is vital, therefore, that we understand what the term 'Babylon' means and this is what this book seeks to clarify.Part One reveals the roots and character of that 'Babylon', applying the lessons of Nimrod and the Tower of Babel and shows how the Church is dominated by its character, outlining the ways in which God's people can become trapped into becoming citizens of Babylon. It traces the development of the spirit of 'Babylon' in the early Church and how the writers of the letters in the New Testament combatted it. It also shows the parallel with today, and considers the final demise of Babylon.Part Two reveals the roots and character of 'Jerusalem' - it proposes that we should develop a different relationship with God and His people, looking at biblical characters and New Testament practices - throughout supported by the relevant passages from Scripture. It suggests that the future expectations that spiritual Jerusalem will fulfil can be enjoyed now if we are prepared to be obedient to the Holy Spirit. The Appendices provide a thorough exposure of the practices of tithing, the use of paid workers, and the error of leadership that perpetuates the spirit of 'Babylon' and stifles the spirit of 'Jerusalem'.

We won't be going to heaven (John 3:13), but heaven is coming to us (Rev. 21:2-5) Where will you be during the Great Tribulation? A great many people assume that ""the church"" will be spared the anguish of the Tribulation by being ""raptured"" into heaven. Others believe that ""the church"" will flea to a place of safety on earth, such as Petra, but not stay in the ""place"" for the full 1260 days, opting to spend a year in the ""third heaven."" Others plan to be in a place on earth the entire time. Some hope that believers will be protected in their homes as the nations around them are being decimated. Consider the evidence presented here and ask yourself if a Place of Safety is to be directly above us in plain view!

Book The Fall and Rise of Jerusalem

Lipschits takes into account the biblical textual evidence, the results of archaeological research, and the reports of Babylonian and Egyptian sources and provides a comprehensive survey and analysis of the evidence for the history of this 100-year-long era. He provides a lucid historical survey that will, no doubt, become the baseline for all future studies of this era.

Download or read book American Babylon written by Richard John Neuhaus and published by Hachette UK. This book was released on 2009-03-17 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christians are by their nature a people out of place. Their true home is with God; in civic life, they are alien citizens "in but not of the world." In American Babylon, eminent theologian Richard John Neuhaus examines the particular truth of that ambiguity for Catholics in America today. Neuhaus addresses the essential quandaries of Catholic life -- assessing how Catholics can keep their heads above water in the sea of immorality that confronts them in the world, how they can be patriotic even though their true country is not in this world, and how they might reconcile their duties as citizens with their commitment to God. Deeply learned, frequently combative, and always eloquent, American Babylon is Neuhaus's magnum opus -- and will be essential reading for all Christians.

Book Assyria to Iberia at the Dawn of the Classical Age

Download or read book Assyria to Iberia at the Dawn of the Classical Age written by Joan Aruz and published by Metropolitan Museum of Art. This book was released on 2014-09-15 with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bringing together the research of internationally renowned scholars, Assyria to Iberia at the Dawn of the Classical Age contributes significantly to our understanding of the epoch-making artistic and cultural exchanges that took place across the Near East and Mediterranean in the early first millennium B.C. This was the world of Odysseus, in which seafaring Phoenician merchants charted new nautical trade routes and established prosperous trading posts and colonies on the shores of three continents; of kings Midas and Croesus, legendary for their wealth; and of the Hebrew Bible, whose stories are brought vividly to life by archaeological discoveries. Objects drawn from collections in the Middle East, Europe, North Africa, and the United States, reproduced here in sumptuous detail, reflect the cultural encounters of diverse populations interacting through trade, travel, and migration as well as war and displacement. Together, they tell a compelling story of the origins and development of Western artistic traditions that trace their roots to the ancient Near East and across the Mediterranean world. Among the masterpieces brought together in this volume are stone reliefs that adorned the majestic palaces of ancient Assyria; expertly crafted Phonecian and Syrian bronzes and worked ivories that were stored in the treasuries of Assyria and deposited in tombs and sanctuaries in regions far to the west; and lavish personal adornments and other luxury goods, some imported and others inspired by Near Eastern craftsmanship. Accompanying texts by leading scholars position each object in cultural and historical context, weaving a narrative of crisis and conquest, worship and warfare, and epic and empire that spans both continents and millennia. Writing another chapter in the story begun in Art of the First Cities (2003) and Beyond Babylon (2008), Assyria to Iberia offers a comprehensive overview of art, diplomacy, and cultural exchange in an age of imperial and mercantile expansion in the ancient Near East and across the Mediterranean in the first millennium B.C.—the dawn of the Classical age.

Book The Theology of the Book of Revelation

Download or read book The Theology of the Book of Revelation written by Richard Bauckham and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1993-03-04 with total page 196 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Book of Revelation is a work of profound theology. But its literary form makes it impenetrable to many modern readers and open to all kinds of misinterpretations. Richard Bauckham explains how the book's imagery conveyed meaning in its original context and how the book's theology is inseparable from its literary structure and composition. Revelation is seen to offer not an esoteric and encoded forecast of historical events but rather a theocentric vision of the coming of God's universal kingdom, contextualised in the late first-century world dominated by Roman power and ideology. It calls on Christians to confront the political idolatries of the time and to participate in God's purpose of gathering all the nations into his kingdom. Once Revelation is properly grounded in its original context it is seen to transcend that context and speak to the contemporary church. This study concludes by highlighting Revelation's continuing relevance for today.
