Download or read book Babaji and the 18 Siddha Kriya Yoga Tradition written by Marshall Govindan and published by Kriya Yoga Publications. This book was released on 1991 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first authoritative biography of Babaji, the immortal master made famous by Yogananda's Autobiography of a Yogi, an all-time best-seller. Babaji lives today near Badrinath, in the upper Himalayan mountains. His body has not aged since the age of sixteen, when centuries ago he attained the supreme state of enlightenment and divine transformation. This followed his initiation into scientific art of Kriya Yoga by two deathless masters, the siddhas Agastyar and Boganathar, who belonged to the "18 Siddha Tradition", famous among the Tamil speaking people of southern India. This rare account, by a long time disciple, reveals their little known stories, ancient culture and present mission, as well as how their Kriya Yoga can be used to bring about the integration of the material and spiritual dimensions of life. Clear explanations of the psychophysiological effects of Kriya Yoga and guidelines for its practice are given. It includes verses from the Siddhas' writings with commentary. A book which will inspire you.
Download or read book Principle of Harmony in Healing written by Gunasilan deBecker and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2017-05-30 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "The Principle of Harmony in Healing is a pioneering work that reveals many surprising links between the indigenous medical traditions of antiquity, suggesting that the world’s oldest medical systems were likely conjoined or coordinated across the planet in ancient times. This captivating book not only unearths the forgotten role of harmony between patient and healer, but also exposes innumerable other startling connections among the ancient cultures that emphasized such a harmony in their medicine. How is the Hindu god Brahma, and his consort Saraswati, linked with the Hebrew luminary Abrahm, and his wife Sara? How is the Hindu Kush mountain range related to the Land of Kush along the Blue Nile in Ethiopia? Sowa Rigpa—the indigenous medicine of Tibet, Bhutan, Nepal, Siberia, Mongolia, and Himalayan regions of India—fused many ancient medical traditions together in a unified system that has not only benefited countless patients throughout history, but also exhibits many key characteristics of the other medical traditions that thrived in distant parts of the world in past millennia, including Mesoamerica and Indonesia. How and why did these traditions come to have such an uncanny resemblance in an era when they are not believed to have developed any contact with each other? Is there a connection between the Amchi shamans of the Himalayas and the Hampchi healers of the Andes? These are just a few of the alluring questions covered in deBecker’s ground-breaking work, The Principle of Harmony in Healing."

Download or read book History of Medical and Spiritual Sciences of Siddhas of Tamil Nadu written by P Karthigayan and published by Notion Press. This book was released on 2016-08-01 with total page 682 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Siddhas were mystics of ancient India. They believed that human race was created to excel in knowledge and help human societies form an advanced civilization on the Earth. They knew that they needed to live longer and even become immortals to achieve this goal. In Indian context Siddhas were considered as doctors but in Western context, such people were called Philosophers. Nevertheless, a deeper understanding of Siddhas' poetic scripts reveals their different faces such as scientific thinkers, social reformers, priest kings, pioneers of advanced cultures, etc. Siddhas speak about spirit, soul and body in their scripts. They also compare cosmos, nature and earth in their science. The unique attainment of Siddhas could be their mastery over physical and cosmic sciences. Siddhas believed that physical science is comparable with cosmic science. Thus, through their physical and cosmic observations, they succeeded in inventing ambrosia of Gods and many became Gods themselves.

Download or read book Congress Declares War written by Roland H. Worth, Jr. and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2010-06-28 with total page 1940 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The dramatic events of the Pearl Harbor attack have been covered in detail from a wide variety of approaches. What came next--the American declaration of war, the intervention of Germany and Italy and the U.S. proclaiming war against them as well--has been given considerably less attention. This detailed volume fills that gap with careful analysis of how the public and Congress reacted to the attack and how it began to modify their past attitudes toward foreign war. Excerpts from the Congressional Record of 1941 support the author's discussion of the debates leading to the decision to declare war. The book explores the rationales defending past conduct by those who had been of both interventionist and anti-interventionist sentiments, as well as their collective effort to forge a national consensus that would support a multi-year international conflict. Emphasis is also placed on the reasoning behind war not being immediately declared on Germany as well as Japan and the motivations behind Germany's decision to enter the conflict on it's own initiative. Lengthy attention is given to Jeanette Rankin, the only House member to vote against the war.

Ram Chandra brings Raja Yoga into the modern world through the simple practices of Sahaj Marg, and explains the central role of meditation in human evolution. For the first time in written history we find precise and scientific explanations of the three aspects of human existence: the Heart Region, which relates to life in this physical plane; the Mind Region, which relates to our subtle existence, especially the process of transcending ego; and the Central Region, which goes beyond the mind to the realm of the soul. Efficacy of Raja Yoga is a book to re-read along with one’s spiritual practice, as with each reading it as if another layer of ignorance has been peeled off, revealing more of our potential.

Download or read book The Holy Science written by Swami Sri Yukteswar and published by Mockingbird Press. This book was released on 2020-09-26 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Holy Science is a book of theology written by Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri in 1894. The text provides a close comparison of parts of the Christian Bible to the Hindu Upanishads, meant "to show as clearly as possible that there is an essential unity in all religions...and that there is but one Goal admitted by all scriptures." Swami Sri Yukteswar Giri was born Priya Nath Karar in 1855 to a wealthy family. As a young man, he was a brilliant student of math and science, astrology and astronomy. He joined a Christian missionary school where he studied the Bible and later spent two years in medical school. After completing his formal education, Priya Nath married and had a daughter. But he continued his intellectual and spiritual pursuits, depending on the income from his property to support himself and his family. After the death of his wife, he entered the monastic Swami order and became Sri Yuktesvar Giri, before becoming a disciple of famed guru Lahiri Mahasaya, known for his revitalization of Kriya Yoga. Then in 1894, Sri Yuktesvar Giri met Mahavatar Babaji, an ageless wise man who is said to have lived for untold hundreds of years. At this meeting, Mahavatar Babaji gave Sri Yuktesvar the title of Swami, and asked him to write this book comparing Hindu scriptures and the Christian Bible. Swami Sri Yuktesvar obeyed. He also founded two ashrams, including one in his ancestral home. He lived simply as a swami and yogi, devoted to disciplining his body and mind, and thus to liberating his soul. Among his disciples was Paramahansa Yogananda, credited with bringing yoga and meditation to millions of Westerners. The Holy Science consists of four chapters. The first is titled "The Gospel," and is intended to "establish the fundamental truth of creation." Next is "The Goal," which discusses the three things all creatures are seeking: "Existence, Consciousness, and Bliss." Chapter three, "The Procedure," is the most practical of the sections. It describes the natural way to live for purity and health of body and mind. The final chapter is called "The Revelation," and discusses the end of the path for those who are near the "three ideals of life." Swami Sri Yukteswar also displays his impressive knowledge and understanding of astrology by proposing his theory of the Yuga Cycle. Each yuga is an age of the world that tracks the movement of the sun, Earth, and planets. Each age represents a different state of humanity. There are four yugas: - Satya Yuga is the highest and most enlightened age of truth and perfection. - Treta Yuga is the age of thought and is more spiritually advanced than Dwapara Yuga and Kali Yuga. - Dwapara Yuga is an energetic age, although not a wise one. During this yuga, people are often self-serving and greedy. The age is marked by war and disease. - Kali Yuga is the age of darkness, ignorance, and materialism. This is the least evolved age. Today, The Holy Science is highly respected among those seeking to understand the relationships between world religions and cultures. While some still believe that we are in Kali Yuga, many others believe that Swami Sri Yukteswar was accurate, and that his calculations correct previous errors that artificially inflated the length of the Yuga Cycle.
