Book Proud to Be from Middle Tennessee

Download or read book Proud to Be from Middle Tennessee written by Thomas Nelson and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2014-12-20 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Nashville Scene created “Calling All Kids . . . The Nashville Write-Off” in 1996 as a way to inspire young writers. This year, the weekly paper asked its budding authors to address the following topic: “My Favorite Things to Do in Middle Tennessee.” Entry forms were run in the Scene over several weeks, and were also distributed at various malls, pizza joints, and at least one optometrist’s office. Soon, essays were flooding our offices. After a panel of judges was convened to review the works, one grand prize winner was selected from each age category (ages 6–12, and 13–18), and a number of honorable mentions were selected as well. The winners were announced at the Southern Festival of Books, and they were awarded cash prizes. The winners were also assured of having their work published. This book, in fact, is a compilation of the winning works.

Book My Incredible Paranormal Spiritual and Out of the Box Experiences

Download or read book My Incredible Paranormal Spiritual and Out of the Box Experiences written by Martin K. Ettington and published by Martin K. Ettington. This book was released on with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many of my friends who know me well and know some of my experiences insist I should write an autobiography because many people will find my stories fascinating. My life has been about my spiritual, and paranormal explorations of the world, and studies of our universe. These views are discussed in over one hundred books; which is detailed near the end of this autobiography. These stories include a spirit attacking me, many prophecies of mine-some of which saved my life. Also a fight with a bear in the wilderness and many other strange experiences which includes a spiritual enlightenment event, and specific memories from before my birth during, and just after it. My education as an engineer at a top school has also led me to an analytical point of view about the world; but I’ve also remained open to new and “impossible” experiences without denying that they really happened. This has led me to a pretty unique point of view as a writer about many “out of the box” subjects which some professionals condemn as illusionary—but many individuals really experience. The experiences of my life in this book should also give you a good idea of the circumstances which created the person I am today, and why I write the books that I do. I’ve grouped my major life experiences mostly sequentially, but some things which took place over longer periods of time are grouped together. So there is some overlap in different chapters of my life. But you can see how all these topics blend together.

Book The Incredible Winston Browne

Download or read book The Incredible Winston Browne written by Sean Dietrich and published by Thomas Nelson. This book was released on 2021-03-02 with total page 352 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Beloved writer Sean Dietrich—also known as Sean of the South—will warm your heart with this rich and nostalgic tale of a small-town sheriff, a mysterious little girl, and a good-hearted community pulling together to help her. Folks in Moab live for ice cream socials, baseball, and the local paper’s weekly gossip column. Sheriff Winston Browne has watched over Moab with a generous eye for a decade, and by now he’s used to handling the daily dramas that keep life interesting for Moab’s quirky residents. But just after Winston receives some terrible, life-altering news, a seemingly mute runaway with no clear origin arrives in Moab. The residents do what they believe is right and take her in—until two suspicious strangers arrive and begin looking for her. Suddenly Winston has a child in desperate need of protection—as well as a secret of his own to keep. With the help of Moab’s goodhearted townsfolk, the humble and well-meaning Winston Browne still has some heroic things to do. He finds romance, family, and love in unexpected places. He stumbles upon adventure, searches his soul, and grapples with the past. In doing so, he just might discover what a life well-lived truly looks like. Sometimes ordinary people do the most extraordinary things of all. Praise for The Incredible Winston Browne: “Sean Dietrich has written a home run of a novel with The Incredible Winston Browne. Every bit as wonderful as its title implies, it’s the story of Browne—a principled, baseball-loving sheriff—a precocious little girl in need of help, and the community that rallies around them. This warm, witty, tender novel celebrates the power of friendship and family to transform our lives. It left me nostalgic and hopeful, missing my grandfathers, and eager for baseball season to start again. I loved it.” —Ariel Lawhon, New York Times bestselling author of I Was Anastasia “Make no mistake. [The Incredible Winston Browne] is a classic story, told by an expert storyteller.” —Shawn Smucker, author of Light from Distant Stars Stand-alone historical novel set in the 1950s Includes discussion questions for book clubs Also from Sean Dietrich: Stars of Alabama
