This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 240 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "System level testing is becoming increasingly important. It is driven by the incessant march of complexity ... which is forcing us to renew our thinking on the processes and procedures that we apply to test and diagnosis of systems. In fact, the complexity defines the system itself which, for our purposes, is ¿any aggregation of related elements that together form an entity of sufficient complexity for which it is impractical to treat all of the elements at the lowest level of detail . System approaches embody the partitioning of problems into smaller inter-related subsystems that will be solved together. Thus, words like hierarchical, dependence, inference, model, and partitioning are frequent throughout this text. Each of the authors deals with the complexity issue in a similar fashion, but the real value in a collected work such as this is in the subtle differences that may lead to synthesized approaches that allow even more progress. The works included in this volume are an outgrowth of the 2nd International Workshop on System Test and Diagnosis held in Alexandria, Virginia in April 1998. The first such workshop was held in Freiburg, Germany, six years earlier. In the current workshop nearly 50 experts from around the world struggled over issues concerning the subject... In this volume, a select group of workshop participants was invited to provide a chapter that expanded their workshop presentations and incorporated their workshop interactions... While we have attempted to present the work as one volume and requested some revision to the work, the content of the individual chapters was not edited significantly. Consequently, you will see different approaches to solving the same problems and occasional disagreement between authors as to definitions or the importance of factors. ... The works collected in this volume represent the state-of-the-art in system test and diagnosis, and the authors are at the leading edge of that science...”. From the Preface

Download or read book The Information Processing Theory of Organization written by John L. Kmetz and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2018-11-09 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1998, revised in 2021, this volume develops and tests an information-processing model of organization, within the context of the accession of a new generation of a production technology. The model conceptualizes organizations as systems which accomplish their objectives through the processing of information. The book begins with the conceptual basis of the theory, developing the fundamental concepts of information, information processing, and technology. The accession of an automatic avionics tester during the 1970s and 1980s is the change in production technology used to test the theory. The theory is tested by mapping and analysing performance with a three-wave longitudinal field experiment and objective performance measures in the workflow of a very complex system, the U.S. Navy’s avionics maintenance organization. The information processing capacity of the system is shown to be the primary determinant of system performance, with or without the use of information technology. Additional support for the theory comes from newer test and information technologies deployed in the 1980s and 1990s. Implications of this theory for current generations of test technology are provided in the final chapters, along with further development of the theory and its general application to many types of organizations.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An Integrated Approach to Product Development Reliability Engineering presents an integrated approach to the design, engineering, and management of reliability activities throughout the life cycle of a product, including concept, research and development, design, manufacturing, assembly, sales, and service. Containing illustrative guides that include worked problems, numerical examples, homework problems, a solutions manual, and class-tested materials, it demonstrates to product development and manufacturing professionals how to distribute key reliability practices throughout an organization. The authors explain how to integrate reliability methods and techniques in the Six Sigma process and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS). They also discuss relationships between warranty and reliability, as well as legal and liability issues. Other topics covered include: Reliability engineering in the 21st Century Probability life distributions for reliability analysis Process control and process capability Failure modes, mechanisms, and effects analysis Health monitoring and prognostics Reliability tests and reliability estimation Reliability Engineering provides a comprehensive list of references on the topics covered in each chapter. It is an invaluable resource for those interested in gaining fundamental knowledge of the practical aspects of reliability in design, manufacturing, and testing. In addition, it is useful for implementation and management of reliability programs.

Download or read book Transmit Receive Modules for Radar and Communication Systems written by Rick Sturdivant and published by Artech House. This book was released on 2015-12-01 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of electronically scanned phased arrays is increasing in systems such as radar, wireless networks, and satellite ground terminals. An important and necessary component for these systems is the transmit receive (T/R) module, which provides the amplification and electronic beam steering that is required for proper function. This new resource presents a comprehensive overview of all design, fabrication, integration, and implementation issues associated with T/R modules for radar and communications. This book provides engineers and researchers with practical designs and 44 examples of analysis, circuits, and components used in T/R modules. It also provides a solid explanation of the theory for how T/R modules operate and how they can be optimized. In addition, this book shows how the latest technical advances in silicon germanium (SiGe) and gallium nitride (GaN) are allowing levels of performance that were previously unachievable. The book concludes with informative chapters on testing, cost considerations, and the future of next generation T/R modules.
