Book Introductory Lectures on Automorphic Forms

Download or read book Introductory Lectures on Automorphic Forms written by Walter L. Baily Jr. and published by Princeton University Press. This book was released on 2015-03-08 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Intended as an introductory guide, this work takes for its subject complex, analytic, automorphic forms and functions on (a domain equivalent to) a bounded domain in a finite-dimensional, complex, vector space, usually denoted Cn). Part I, essentially elementary, deals with complex analytic automorphic forms on a bounded domain; it presents H. Cartan's proof of the existence of the projective imbedding of the compact quotient of such a domain by a discrete group. Part II treats the construction and properties of automorphic forms with respect to an arithmetic group acting on a bounded symmetric domain; this part is highly technical, and based largely on relevant results in functional analysis due to Godement and Harish-Chandra. In Part III, Professor Baily extends the discussion to include some special topics, specifically, the arithmetic propertics of Eisenstein series and their connection with the arithmetic theory of quadratic forms. Unlike classical works on the subject, this book deals with more than one variable, and it differs notably in its treatment of analysis on the group of automorphisms of the domain. It is concerned with the case of complex analytic automorphic forms because of their connection with algebraic geometry, and so is distinct from other modern treatises that deal with automorphic forms on a semi-simple Lie group. Having had its inception as graduate- level lectures, the book assumes some knowledge of complex function theory and algebra, for the serious reader is expected to supply certain details for himself, especially in such related areas as functional analysis and algebraic groups. Originally published in 1973. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.

Book Automorphic Forms on SL2 R

Download or read book Automorphic Forms on SL2 R written by Armand Borel and published by Cambridge University Press. This book was released on 1997-08-28 with total page 204 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides an introduction to some aspects of the analytic theory of automorphic forms on G=SL2(R) or the upper-half plane X, with respect to a discrete subgroup G of G of finite covolume. The point of view is inspired by the theory of infinite dimensional unitary representations of G; this is introduced in the last sections, making this connection explicit. The topics treated include the construction of fundamental domains, the notion of automorphic form on G\G and its relationship with the classical automorphic forms on X, Poincare series, constant terms, cusp forms, finite dimensionality of the space of automorphic forms of a given type, compactness of certain convolution operators, Eisenstein series, unitary representations of G, and the spectral decomposition of L2 (G\G). The main prerequisites are some results in functional analysis (reviewed, with references) and some familiarity with the elementary theory of Lie groups and Lie algebras. Graduate students and researchers in analytic number theory will find much to interest them in this book.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The lectures from a course in the representation theory of semi- simple groups, automorphic forms, and the relations between them. The purpose is to help analysts make systematic use of Lie groups in work on harmonic analysis, differential equations, and mathematical physics; and to provide number theorists with the representation-theoretic input to Wiles's proof of Fermat's Last Theorem. Begins with an introductory treatment of structure theory and ends with the current status of functionality. Annotation copyrighted by Book News, Inc., Portland, OR

Book Lie Groups and Automorphic Forms

Download or read book Lie Groups and Automorphic Forms written by Lizhen Ji and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2006 with total page 239 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lie groups are fundamental objects in mathematics. They occur naturally in differential geometry, algebraic geometry, representation theory, number theory, and other areas. Closely related are arithmetic subgroups, locally symmetric spaces and the spectral theory of automorphic forms. This book consists of five chapters which give comprehensive introductions to Lie groups, Lie algebras, arithmetic groups and reduction theories, cohomology of arithmetic groups, and the Petersson and Kuznetsov trace formulas.

Book Automorphic Forms and Even Unimodular Lattices

Download or read book Automorphic Forms and Even Unimodular Lattices written by Gaëtan Chenevier and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-02-28 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book includes a self-contained approach of the general theory of quadratic forms and integral Euclidean lattices, as well as a presentation of the theory of automorphic forms and Langlands' conjectures, ranging from the first definitions to the recent and deep classification results due to James Arthur. Its connecting thread is a question about lattices of rank 24: the problem of p-neighborhoods between Niemeier lattices. This question, whose expression is quite elementary, is in fact very natural from the automorphic point of view, and turns out to be surprisingly intriguing. We explain how the new advances in the Langlands program mentioned above pave the way for a solution. This study proves to be very rich, leading us to classical themes such as theta series, Siegel modular forms, the triality principle, L-functions and congruences between Galois representations. This monograph is intended for any mathematician with an interest in Euclidean lattices, automorphic forms or number theory. A large part of it is meant to be accessible to non-specialists.

Book Representation Theory and Automorphic Forms

Download or read book Representation Theory and Automorphic Forms written by Paul Sally and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on with total page 452 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The eleven papers collected in this volume appeared in the Bulletin of the AMS during the years 1955 to 1984 and share the theme of the representation theory of locally compact groups and its numerous applications. The papers provide a glimpse at the historical development of a subject which has expanded into many areas of mathematics during the past forty years. In addition, this volume provides easy access to a useful set of references. Chronicling some of the most important developments in papers by some of the field's major figures, this book will appeal to specialists in representation theory as well as to researchers in those areas of mathematics in which representation theory plays an important role.
