Book Audacity of Speaking in Tongues

Download or read book Audacity of Speaking in Tongues written by Oppong Kyekyeku and published by Covenant Books, Inc.. This book was released on 2018-10-25 with total page 199 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Theological correctness has made speaking in tongues controversial, and it confuses everyone within Christendom. Many doubts which surrendering it are creating fear instead of faith for its authenticity, meanwhile Jesus promised every believer as one of the signs to follow us. Speaking in tongues is not the Holy Spirit, but it is the evidence indicating that the Holy Spirit has come upon you. It happened on the day of Pentecost, when one hundred and twenty believers gathered together in Jerusalem. The Holy Spirit came upon all of them, and they began to speak in tongues as evidence to confirm Jesus's prophecy. Peter couldn't ignore its reality but confirmed that the Holy Spirit had come upon the Gentiles just as they received, when he heard the household of Cornelius speaking in tongues. In Ephesus, Paul also believed the fact that the Holy Spirit had come upon all the twelve converts by laying his hands on them, because they spoke in tongues. Now we contemporary Christians cannot overlook this evidence. Instead, we must continue until we pass to the next generation. Because the truth has to be told.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Almost 40 years ago John and Elizabeth Sherill introduced the world to the phenomenon of 'speaking in tongues' in their book, They Speak with Other Tongues. The book was an immediate success as thousands were touched by the power of this spiritual gift. The Hidden Power of Speaking in Tongues again explores this spiritual experience powerfully prevalent in the early church. This much maligned and controversial gift was a practical part of their worship and intercession and seeks to be rediscovered in our day. In a day of spiritual poverty, Chavda challenges the Body of Christ to experience afresh the secret dynamic of 'speaking in tongues', as he removes the veil covering this glorious gift.

Book The Speaking in Tongues Controversy

Download or read book The Speaking in Tongues Controversy written by Rick Walston and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2005-09-27 with total page 237 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What others are saying... As an AG minister, I was especially interested in Dr. Walston's discussion of this topic. I found his arguments lucid, biblical, exegetical, and convincing. Rev. Kevin Potts, Ph.D. Candidate, Chaplain Dr. Walston has thrown a 'big wrench' into my tongues-as-evidence doctrinal gears. I am now working through what I thought was a foundational doctrine that I also thought was settled long ago. This book should be required reading for people on both sides of this issue. Dr. Denny Nissley, AG minister, Director of Christ in Action Ministries Many books and articles have been written in defense of speaking in tongues as the unmistakable, physical evidence of the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. Through his careful and thorough analysis of the Pentecostal texts in the Book of Acts, Dr. Walston is challenging this view. This book is beyond doubt one of the most thought-provoking analyses on this theme I have ever read. Nils-Olov Nilsson, Th.D., Swedish Missionary and Theologian with the Swedish Pentecostal Movement

Book Speaking in Tongues

Download or read book Speaking in Tongues written by Herbert G. Bell, Jr. and published by iUniverse. This book was released on 2009-07 with total page 54 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Speaking in Tongues follows the quest of Reverend Herbert Bell, Jr. to find out the Biblical truth about speaking in tongues. Throughout his book, he uses various biblical and pastoral sources to determine the origins of the practice of speaking in tongues. His biblical resource is the New King James Version of the bible from which he has also drawn all of the scriptures used in the book. He examines the writings of John Wesley, Dr. Curtis Hutson and James M. Frye to weigh their response to the practice of speaking in tongues. In John Wesley, he finds a voice who just wants his congregation to be able to understand his message. Like Wesley, he has endeavored in this book to present the material in a manner so that all who read it may understand and profit from its content. As he delves more deeply into the writings of Hutson and Frye, he finds two theologians who also share his view of speaking in tongues. With that as a basis, Reverend Bell decided to search the Scripture for himself so that he would learn what God required of him as he worshipped Him in Spirit and in Truth.

As a pastor, Storms knows the questions that the typical churchgoer is asking and provides clear and accessible answers to them all, including: Is the gift of tongues for every Christian or only some? How does the gift of tongues operate in the life of the believer individually in private practice? How does the gift of tongues operate in the corporate assembly of God’s church? How is the Christian edified and strengthened by praying in tongues? How do I pray for the gift and prepare my heart to receive it? You can overcome the arguments, fears, and anxieties related to this spiritual gift. Remember, God gives only good gifts, and it is His intention that His church utilize all that He has provided so that we might experience all that He is.

Book excerpt: Temptations abound to influence us to go astray. In moments of weakness, we often give in to their allure, which causes hurt to ourselves as well as to others. The same happened with many Bible characters. They entangled themselves in deceit, discord, greed, unbridled sex, and even denial of God. Their missteps also suggest addictive habits that run rampant in today's society, ones that take a devastating toll in our moments of weakness. This book is geared toward combating them that we stand against fleshly desires and, in turn, dedicate ourselves toward right living. There will be opposition, but ready to help stands a loving heavenly Father, who welcomes us with open arms.

Book Voices from the Gods

Download or read book Voices from the Gods written by David Christie-Murray and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2019-03-20 with total page 395 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Glossolalia (paranormal speaking in tongues) and zenolalia (paranormal speaking in allegedly foreign languages) are features of many sub-cultures and religions. The most obvious example is Pentecostalism, where every believer in many denominations is expected to speak in tongues at least once – the gift in other cultures being limited to individuals, shamans and mediums. This book, first published in 1978, surveys the practice of ‘speaking in tongues’ in anthropology, Christianity and spiritualism, and provides an analysis of the psychological, theological and linguistic considerations of the phenomenon.
