Book excerpt: Do you have what it takes to succeed in any situation? According to a retired commander who ran training for Navy SEALs, true optimal performance goes beyond just skill. It’s all about THE ATTRIBUTES. “Diviney’s incredible book explains why some people thrive—even when things get hard.”—Charles Duhigg, New York Times bestselling author of The Power of Habit During his twenty years as a Navy officer and SEAL, Rich Diviney was intimately involved in a specialized SEAL selection process, which whittled a group of hundreds of extraordinary candidates down to a handful of the most elite performers. Diviney was often surprised by which candidates washed out and which succeeded. Some could have all the right skills and still fail, while others he might have initially dismissed would prove to be top performers. The seemingly objective criteria weren’t telling him what he most needed to know: Who would succeed in one of the world’s toughest military assignments? It is similarly hard to predict success in the real world. It happens often enough that underdog students accomplish exceptional achievements while highly skilled, motivated employees fail to meet expectations. Dark-horse companies pull away from the pack while dream teams flush with talent and capital go under. In working with and selecting top special operators for decades, Diviney saw that beneath obvious skills are hidden drivers of performance, surprising core attributes—including cunning, adaptability, courage, even narcissism—that determine how resilient or perseverant we are, how situationally aware and how conscientious. These attributes explain how we perform as individuals and as part of a team. The same methodology that Diviney used in the military can be applied by anyone in their personal and professional lives, and understanding these attributes can allow readers and their teams to perform optimally, at any time, in any situation. Diviney defines the core attributes in fresh and practical ways and shares stories from the military, business, sports, relationships, and even parenting to show how understanding your own attributes and those of the people around you can create optimal performance in all areas of your life.

Book Handbook of Poststack Seismic Attributes

Download or read book Handbook of Poststack Seismic Attributes written by Arthur E. Barnes and published by SEG Books. This book was released on 2016-10-15 with total page 269 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Handbook of Poststack Seismic Attributes is a general reference for poststack seismic attributes. It discusses their theory, meaning, computation, and application, with the goal of improving understanding so that seismic attributes can be applied more effectively. The chapters of the book build upon each other and progress from basic attributes to more involved methods. The book introduces the ideas that underlie seismic attributes and reviews their history from their origins to current developments. It examines attribute maps and interval statistics; complex trace attributes; 3D attributes that quantify aspects of geologic structure and stratigraphy, primarily dip, azimuth, curvature, reflection spacing, and parallelism; seismic discontinuity attributes derived through variances or differences; spectral decomposition, thin-bed analysis, and waveform classification; the two poststack methods that purportedly record rock properties — relative acoustic impedance through recursive inversion, and Q estimation through spectral ratioing; and multiattribute analysis through volume blending, cross-plotting, principal component analysis, and unsupervised classification. The book ends with an overview of how seismic attributes aid data interpretation and discusses bright spots, frequency shadows, faults, channels, diapirs, and data reconnaissance. A glossary provides definitions of seismic attributes and methods, and appendices provide background mathematics. The book is intended for reflection seismologists engaged in petroleum exploration, including seismic data interpreters, data processors, researchers, and students.

Book Photoelectric Detection on Derived Attributes of Targets

Download or read book Photoelectric Detection on Derived Attributes of Targets written by Xing Yang and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2023-08-22 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book highlights the novel photoelectric detection technique on derived attributes of targets. Photoelectric detection on derived attributes of targets is a new target detection and monitoring method. It is achieved by acquiring three types of attributes of the target, including those that reflect the essential features of parts of the target, those directly generated from the target, and those synthesized by the target features. The book introduces the classification of derived attributes of targets and describes typical detection methods. Emphases are put on laser detection of aerial moving targets, using derived attributes such as the disturbance of atmospheric wind fields, trailing vortexes, and the disturbance of atmospheric components. The authors also elaborate on visible light imaging detection using derived attributes such as retroreflection and the identification of target carriers. Besides, the synthetic attributes processing of integrated aerospace images is introduced for the detection of targets on the ground and sea surfaces. This book can be used as a good reference for researchers engaged in the fields of photoelectric detection, target detection and image processing, and as a reference book for senior undergraduates and postgraduates in relevant majors.

Book Attributes of Memory Psychology Revivals

Download or read book Attributes of Memory Psychology Revivals written by Peter Herriot and published by Psychology Press. This book was released on 2013-11-05 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1974, Attributes of Memory rejected the prevalent stress on the structure of memory. It suggests that the view of memory as a sequence of stores through which information passes is mistaken. Instead, the author emphasizes the coding process of memory by which the nominal stimulus, the stimulus as presented, is transformed into the functional stimulus, the stimulus as coded. Dr Herriot proposes that there are many different forms of coding, and that efficiency of recall or recognition performance is a function of the nature of coding employed. He suggests that the subject’s linguistic system is the most frequently employed linguistic device; that is, that the underlying attributes and rules of language are used automatically when material is verbal. Since the basic function of language is to communicate meaning, those forms of coding which are meaningful in nature are most effective in memory. The book cites a great deal of experimental evidence, including many studies of the time. As well as stating a point of view, it should be useful to undergraduate and postgraduate students as a review of the early literature, read in its historical context.

Book Meditating on the Attributes of GOD

Download or read book Meditating on the Attributes of GOD written by GERARD ASSEY and published by Gerard Assey. This book was released on 2021-03-18 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: When we speak of God's attributes, we are talking about those characteristics that help us to understand who He truly is. An attribute of God is not a “part” of God- not component parts of God. In other words, God is not 15% love, 25% holy, 5% righteousness, 10% mercy, etc. Each attribute describes His total being. For example, love is not just a part of God’s nature; God in His total being is love. Holiness is not just a part of God’s nature; God in His total being is holy. And God will not compromise one of His attributes when exhibiting another attribute of His. So we always need to remember that God is the sum of all perfections, and because of which, we must be careful when we study the attributes of God that we do not emphasize one attribute at the expense of the others. What you will find in this book: 'Meditating on the Attributes of GOD' are just some of His attributes and are in no way thorough, as God is infinitely far above and beyond our ability to fully understand and comprehend HIM. Our finite minds cannot reason fully- not even a fraction of Who God is, but the Bible communicates what He is like, so that we can know Him better. God tells us through His very Word, specific truths about Himself so that we can know what He is like, and be drawn to better worship Him. God’s manifold attributes shine most clearly in His Son, Jesus Christ, who came to reveal His Father. Through Christ’s saving work on the cross, we are able to know and worship God rightly. And once we begin to grasp Who God really is and what He is like, it will make a difference in our lives. Properly understanding God is the key to trusting Him enough that He can live through you. A.W. Tozer wrote, “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” A right view and understanding of God is essential if we are to develop trust and faith in Him and have real purpose in living. So why learn about the attributes of God? As someone very well put it, “A man’s own character will necessarily be determined by the character of the god whom he worships.” What you are and what you will turn out to be in life is affected by whom or what you worship. Therefore in order to have a true understanding of Who God is so as to rightly worship this God of the Bible, we must have a right understanding of His attributes. Though there are many good reasons why it is important for us to understand the attributes of God, here are just 3 key reasons as to why I believe it is important for us to do so: 1: It pleases God 2: It saves and protects us from having a wrong view of God. 3: The result is joy in our hearts. This book therefore aims to help us study and understand the attributes of this infinite God so that we delight in and love Him with all our heart, soul, strength, and mind. As you will notice this book dwells on twelve key attributes that have been selected- one for every month. And as you get into a particular month with a specific attribute for that month, you will find 31 verses pertaining to that said months’ attribute. Use this devotional to enrich your time set apart with God by taking one description of Him and meditating on that for the whole day, along with the accompanying passage. I pray that this book will help you in your worship of God-the purpose you were created for, by focusing on Him and His character!

Book The Christian Doctrine of the Divine Attributes

Download or read book The Christian Doctrine of the Divine Attributes written by Hermann Cremer and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2016-05-27 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cremer's short, energetic treatise on the divine attributes was admired by both Karl Barth and Wolfhart Pannenberg. Cremer chastises the speculative flights of traditional doctrines of the divine attributes and issues a resounding summons to a more exegetically, economically, and christologically grounded account. Known primarily as a biblical scholar for his Biblico-Theological Lexicon of New Testament Greek, precursor to the monumental TDNT, Cremer shows himself here also an able systematician, with a pastor's eye for the role played by doctrine in the life of congregational and individual faith.

Book The Nine Attributes of the Buddha

Download or read book The Nine Attributes of the Buddha written by Sayagyi U Kyaw Htut and published by Pariyatti. This book was released on 2022-02-28 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The attributes of the Buddha are Innumerable. But, during the time of the Buddha, there were only nine attributes which became well-known, far and wide, up to the deva and brahma realms. The theras participating in the Buddhist Synod or Council repeatedly mentioned this fact in the Nikāyas. The nine attributes as recorded by the Council theras were taught also by the Theravāda theras to their own male and female disciples. First, these disciples had to memorize the Pāḷi text of the nine attributes. Later, the meaning of each of the nine attributes was explained briefly, and also extensively, to the best of their ability. The explanations were in both Pāḷi and Myanmar. Due to these expansions and lengthy explanations, scholars wishing to find out the original meaning of the individual attributes are now facing many difficulties. To overcome these difficulties as far as possible, Sayagyi U Kyaw Htut of the Board for Myanmar Translation of the Sixth International Buddhist Synod Pāḷi Texts made a careful study of the Pāḷi text of the Five Nikāyas for more than twenty years. Based on that study and notes, Sayagyi tries his best to bring out and maintain the original meaning of each attribute of the Buddha. In giving lectures to Maṅgala classes, Abhidhamma classes and other classes, Sayagyi usually starts with his lecture on individual attributes of the Buddha as a sort of introduction.

Book Seismic Attributes as the Framework for Data Integration Throughout the Oilfield Life Cycle

Download or read book Seismic Attributes as the Framework for Data Integration Throughout the Oilfield Life Cycle written by Kurt J. Marfurt and published by SEG Books. This book was released on 2018-01-31 with total page 509 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Useful attributes capture and quantify key components of the seismic amplitude and texture for subsequent integration with well log, microseismic, and production data through either interactive visualization or machine learning. Although both approaches can accelerate and facilitate the interpretation process, they can by no means replace the interpreter. Interpreter “grayware” includes the incorporation and validation of depositional, diagenetic, and tectonic deformation models, the integration of rock physics systematics, and the recognition of unanticipated opportunities and hazards. This book is written to accompany and complement the 2018 SEG Distinguished Instructor Short Course that provides a rapid overview of how 3D seismic attributes provide a framework for data integration over the life of the oil and gas field. Key concepts are illustrated by example, showing modern workflows based on interactive interpretation and display as well as those aided by machine learning.

Download or read book Attributes of God written by A.W Pink and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2015-11-27 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Transforming Knowledge of the Living God The timeless appeal of this classic book, written by a preacher with a worldwide ministry during the first half of the twentieth century, demonstrates the deep hunger for a saving knowledge of God present in each generation. Arthur Pink sought to give readers not just a theoretical knowledge of God but pointed them toward a personal relationship of yielding to him and living according to his biblical precepts. Pink's book explores attributes such as God's decrees, foreknowledge, sovereignty, holiness, grace, and mercy, among many others, all packaged in a style especially useful for pastors, teachers, and Bible students. Our God who is above all names cannot be found through human searching alone, Pink teaches, but can be known only as he is revealed by the Holy Spirit through his living Word.

Book Attribute Grammars Applications and Systems

Download or read book Attribute Grammars Applications and Systems written by Henk Alblas and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1991-10-23 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Attribute grammars have shown themselves to be a useful formalism for specifying the syntax and the static semantics of programming languages. They are also useful for implementing syntax-directed editors, compilers, translator writing systems and compiler generators, and any application that has a strong syntactic base. However, no textbooks are available that cover the entire field. To redress this imbalance, anInternational Summer School on Attribute Grammars, Applications and Systems was held in Prague, Czechoslovakia in June 1991. The course aimed at teaching the state of the art in attribute grammars, and their relation to other language specification methods. This volume presents the proceedings of the school. The papers are well suited for self-study, and a selection of them can be used for introductory courses in attribute grammars.
