Book Atmospheric Modeling for Molecular Absorption Research Project

Download or read book Atmospheric Modeling for Molecular Absorption Research Project written by Joseph H. Pierluissi and published by . This book was released on 1974 with total page 65 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The project developed a number of phenomenological and physical variations of the five-parameter band model for molecular transmittance in the infrared using data from line-by-line calculations in the 15 micron - CO2 band. Conversion from a standard inhomogeneous atmosphere to a homogeneous medium is obtained with the use of modified Curtis-Godson relations and calculated line intensities averaged over 5/cm. Comparisons are made between the calculated and original data indicating that band modeling yields accuracies comparable to the degree of validity of the original transmittance provided that the number and nature of the band parameters are allowed spectral dependence. Book Band model Methods for Computing Atmospheric Slant path Molecular Absorption

Download or read book Band model Methods for Computing Atmospheric Slant path Molecular Absorption written by David Anding and published by . This book was released on 1967 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The general transmissivity equation for computing slant-path molecular absorption spectra is developed and two methods for evaluating this equation, the direct integration and that which assumes a model of the band structure, are discussed. Five band models are discussed and twelve methods for computing molecular absorption based on these band models are presented. Spectra computed by band-model methods are compared with spectra calculated by direct integration of the general transmissivity equation and with open-air field measurements of absorption spectra. Conclusions concerning the capability of band-model methods for predicting slant-path absorption spectra are stated and recommendations for future research are outlined. A summary of open-air field measurements of absorption spectra and laboratory measurements of absorption spectra for homogeneous paths is presented and a computer program for computing the equivalent sea-level path, the Curtis-Godson equivalent pressure, and the absorber concentration for atmospheric slant paths for any model atmosphere is given in appendix I. Book Users Guide to Lowtran 7

Download or read book Users Guide to Lowtran 7 written by F. X. Kneizys and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LOWTRAN 7 is a low-resolution propagation model and computer code for predicting atmospheric transmittance and background radiance from 0 to 50,000 cm -1 at a resolution of 20 cm -1. The code is based on the LOWTRAN 6 (1983) model. Multiple scattered radiation has been added to the model as well as new molecular band model parameters and new ozone and molecular oxygen absorption parameters for the UV. Other modifications include a wind dependent desert model, new cirrus cloud models, and new cloud and rain models. The code also includes new representative (geographical and seasonal) atmospheric models and updated aerosol models with options to replace them with user-derived values. An improved extra-terrestrial solar source function is also included. Six modes of program execution are allowed with the new model and computer code for a given slant path geometry. This report contains a description to users for operating the LOWTRAN 7 computer code. It summarizes the capabilities of the new code, provides complete operating instructions as well as input and output from test cases for user validation. Also included are operating instructions for three programs that utilize LOWTRAN 7 output (plot, filter and scanning function programs).

Book Atmospheric Modeling Using PcModWin MODTRAN
