Book Atlas of Wide Field Retinal Angiography and Imaging

Download or read book Atlas of Wide Field Retinal Angiography and Imaging written by Igor Kozak and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-04-12 with total page 259 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Written by experts in the field of ophthalmology, this new text assists in understanding new imaging technology and the clinical information it can provide. It allows the reader to review numerous images of various pathologies and would be of interest to retina specialists and ophthalmologists. Retinal imaging has undergone dramatic changes in the last decade, characterized by constantly improving image resolution, most notably, as it applies to macular diseases, thanks to ever evolving optical coherence tomography. However, imaging retina outside of the vascular arcades has come a long way with advent of new cameras and lenses. The most profound change has been the introduction of wide-angle angiography, which has demonstrated pathologies previously not seen or suspected and gives rise to new theories of pathophysiology of some retinal diseases. Understanding this new imaging technology and the clinical information it can provide requires a basis of knowledge and experience in associating the findings with other clinical signs in the eye and the rest of the body. Atlas of Wide-Field Retinal Angiography and Imaging helps with this experience by allowing the reader to review numerous images of various pathologies and analyzes angiographic findings in the retinal periphery. Furthermore, as this technology increasingly fills ophthalmologists’ offices around the world, this book will prove to be an invaluable resource, written by experts in the field for retina specialists and ophthalmologists.

Book Atlas of Pathologic Myopia

Download or read book Atlas of Pathologic Myopia written by Kyoko Ohno-Matsui and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-09-26 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Atlas provides many beautiful images obtained with state-of-the-art technologies, including optical coherence tomography (OCT), OCT angiography, fundus autofluorescence, and wide-field fundus imaging, as well as traditional images and fluorescein/ICG angiograms. Gathered at the world’s largest High Myopia Clinic, the images are based on the long-term follow-up data of more than 6,000 patients from Japan and abroad. Recent advances in imaging technologies have yielded many new observations and allowed us to detect new lesions, e.g. myopic traction maculopathy (or macular retinoschisis) and dome-shaped macula. An especially interesting aspect: the images obtained by ‘3D MRI of the eye’ and ‘ultra wide-field OCT’ to visualize staphylomas. These techniques were established by the editor’s group and make it possible to record the entire shapes of the eye, offering a scan width of up to 23 mm and scan depth of 5 mm. They have since been used to visualize posterior staphyloma, which was previously impossible to view because it spanned such a wide range of the eye. In addition, readers will learn what types of eye deformity occur in pathologic myopia and how they damage the macula/optic nerve. With this Atlas, readers will learn how to accurately diagnose each lesion of pathologic myopia, how eye deformity causes blinding complications, and how to identify patients with a poor prognosis. In short, it provides essential information that can’t be found elsewhere.

Book Atlas of Inherited Retinal Diseases

Download or read book Atlas of Inherited Retinal Diseases written by Stephen H. Tsang and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-12-21 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This Atlas of Inherited Retinal Disorders provides a thorough overview of various inherited retinal dystrophies with emphasis on phenotype characteristics and how they relate to the most frequently encountered genes. It also meets the previously unmet needs of PhD students who will benefit from seeing the phenotypes of genes they work on and study. Further, because genetic-testing costs are quite high and spiraling higher, this Atlas will help geneticists familiarize themselves with the candidate gene approach to test patients’ genomes, enabling more cost-efficient testing. This invaluable atlas is organized into eight sections starting with an introduction to the basic knowledge on retinal imaging, followed by diseases listed according to inheritance pattern and disorders with extraocular manifestations grouped by defining features. This structure will be intuitive to clinicians and students studying inherited retinal disorders.
