Book Colour Atlas of Micro Oto Neurosurgical Procedures

Download or read book Colour Atlas of Micro Oto Neurosurgical Procedures written by Vittorio Colletti and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-04-17 with total page 134 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Modern microsurgical techniques have opened up a new horizon for the otoneurosurgeon. This volume is a very important contribu tion to the student who is learning these surgical approaches. Surgical otoneurology has now passed the infancy stage, but is still an adolescent. As more otologists and neurosurgeons become skilled in this type of surgery, new and better approaches will evolve. Certainly there needs to be much better management of the carotid artery as it passes through the temporal bone. Better techniques to preserve the IX, X, and XI nerves in the jugular bulb area should be developed, and more delicate procedures for management of lesions inside the cochlea and vestibular labyrinth should be developed. As our diagnostic techniques have improved, particularly through imaging, surgical techniques to match the improved diagnostic techniques will emerge. For future otoneurologists who are pre pared, many problems involving the temporal bone that are now considered untreatable will be successfully managed for very grateful patients. The purpose of this text is to familiarize the otoneurosur geon with the anatomy of the temporal bone, skull base, infratem poral fossa, and cerebellopontine angle. This anatomy will be taught by demonstrating surgical procedures. This atlas which is an example of cooperation between the schools of Los Angeles and Verona will permit the reader to rehearse otoneurosurgical procedures in the laboratory, and, when the techniques have been mastered, apply the various approaches in the treatment of inner ear and skull base lesions. William F. House MD.

Book Stereo Operative Atlas of Micro Ear Surgery

Download or read book Stereo Operative Atlas of Micro Ear Surgery written by Pu Dai and published by Springer. This book was released on 2017-01-21 with total page 284 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces readers to modern micro ear surgery procedures employing 3-D methods. Divided into 5 chapters, it explores 43 micro ear surgery operations, while 418 pairs of stereoscopic images illustrate each procedure in 3-D detail. Using the operating microscope, which provides true stereo vision through its two-eye lens system, the authors present various micro ear surgeries, including mastoid and middle ear surgery, facial nerve surgery, inner ear surgery, and lateral skull base surgery. For each pair of stereoscopic images, readers can find the anatomic structures captured from two different angles, and will learn how to use stereoscopic 3-D methods to view the anatomic structures hidden deep in the temporal bone. As such, the book offers a valuable guide book and reference work for doctors specializing in otology, neurology and related fields.

Book Microsurgery of the Skull Base

Download or read book Microsurgery of the Skull Base written by Ugo Fisch and published by Thieme. This book was released on 1988-10-13 with total page 1609 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing on decades of experience and wisdom, Dr. Ugo Fisch created this classic text/atlas on microsurgical procedures for the skull base. The authors have labored not to popularize skull base surgery, but to provide the details of each operation, giving surgeons the valuable information they need. Each chapter of the text discusses a specific procedure and is divided into two sections, covering both the general surgical steps of the procedure and also its application. Within each chapter you'll find: general considerations; surgical techniques; applications; tips and pratfalls; imaging scans of illustrative cases; and color plates of pre- and post-operative preparation and instrumentation. The final two chapters discuss anesthesia issues and the impact of neuroradiology on skull base surgery. All of the cases used in the book reflect actual procedures, not hypothetical situations. All neurosurgeons and otolaryngologists involved in skull base surgery will benefit from having this classic text in their professional library. It demonstrates the procedures that have proven to be both safe and reliable through the years.

Book Modern Management of Acoustic Neuroma

Download or read book Modern Management of Acoustic Neuroma written by Jean Régis and published by Karger Medical and Scientific Publishers. This book was released on 2008-01-01 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Acoustic neuroma outcomes have been greatly improved by advances in microsurgical techniques, and recently by the long-term application of radiosurgery, which has proven to be an appropriate, verifiable, and extremely clinically relevant treatment strategy. This volume brings together the latest opinions of outstanding physicians and surgeons who treat patients with acoustic neuromas, commonly known as vestibular neuromas. Since the days of Cushing, when partial tumor removal seemed the best method for saving a patient's life, the management of this relatively rare tumor has sparked enormous clinical interest. The book outlines the various stages in the evolution of vestibular schwannoma surgery and presents the full spectrum of current therapeutic possibilities. The novel concept of combining microsurgical with radiosurgical skills should eliminate problems such as facial palsy and hearing loss which were previously associated with the therapeutic management of these tumors. The excellent research findings published here by leading experts in the field will help neurosurgeons, otologists and radiation oncologists to understand the enormous strides made during the last two decades in vestibular schwannoma surgery and radiosurgery.
