Book Ordinary Differential Equations and Linear Algebra

Download or read book Ordinary Differential Equations and Linear Algebra written by Todd Kapitula and published by SIAM. This book was released on 2015-11-17 with total page 308 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ordinary differential equations (ODEs) and linear algebra are foundational postcalculus mathematics courses in the sciences. The goal of this text is to help students master both subject areas in a one-semester course. Linear algebra is developed first, with an eye toward solving linear systems of ODEs. A computer algebra system is used for intermediate calculations (Gaussian elimination, complicated integrals, etc.); however, the text is not tailored toward a particular system. Ordinary Differential Equations and Linear Algebra: A Systems Approach systematically develops the linear algebra needed to solve systems of ODEs and includes over 15 distinct applications of the theory, many of which are not typically seen in a textbook at this level (e.g., lead poisoning, SIR models, digital filters). It emphasizes mathematical modeling and contains group projects at the end of each chapter that allow students to more fully explore the interaction between the modeling of a system, the solution of the model, and the resulting physical description.

Book Ordinary Differential Equations

Download or read book Ordinary Differential Equations written by Raza Tahir-Kheli and published by Springer. This book was released on 2019-02-05 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This textbook describes rules and procedures for the use of Differential Operators (DO) in Ordinary Differential Equations (ODE). The book provides a detailed theoretical and numerical description of ODE. It presents a large variety of ODE and the chosen groups are used to solve a host of physical problems. Solving these problems is of interest primarily to students of science, such as physics, engineering, biology and chemistry. Scientists are greatly assisted by using the DO obeying several simple algebraic rules. The book describes these rules and, to help the reader, the vocabulary and the definitions used throughout the text are provided. A thorough description of the relatively straightforward methodology for solving ODE is given. The book provides solutions to a large number of associated problems. ODE that are integrable, or those that have one of the two variables missing in any explicit form are also treated with solved problems. The physics and applicable mathematics are explained and many associated problems are analyzed and solved in detail. Numerical solutions are analyzed and the level of exactness obtained under various approximations is discussed in detail.

Book Invariants and Equations Associated With the General Linear Differential Equation

Download or read book Invariants and Equations Associated With the General Linear Differential Equation written by George F. Metzler and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2016-11-08 with total page 48 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Invariants and Equations Associated With the General Linear Differential Equation: Thesis Presented for the Degree of Ph. D The formation of functions, associated with differential equa tions and analogous to the invariants of algebraic quantics, has occupied the attention of several mathematicians for some years, because of their great value in leading to practical as well as theoretical solutions of such equations. Book Partial Differential Equations

Download or read book Partial Differential Equations written by Walter A. Strauss and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2007-12-21 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Our understanding of the fundamental processes of the natural world is based to a large extent on partial differential equations (PDEs). The second edition of Partial Differential Equations provides an introduction to the basic properties of PDEs and the ideas and techniques that have proven useful in analyzing them. It provides the student a broad perspective on the subject, illustrates the incredibly rich variety of phenomena encompassed by it, and imparts a working knowledge of the most important techniques of analysis of the solutions of the equations. In this book mathematical jargon is minimized. Our focus is on the three most classical PDEs: the wave, heat and Laplace equations. Advanced concepts are introduced frequently but with the least possible technicalities. The book is flexibly designed for juniors, seniors or beginning graduate students in science, engineering or mathematics.

Book Introduction to Ordinary Differential Equations with Mathematica

Download or read book Introduction to Ordinary Differential Equations with Mathematica written by Alfred Gray and published by Springer. This book was released on 1997-06-20 with total page 920 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: These materials - developed and thoroughly class tested over many years by the authors -are for use in courses at the sophomore/junior level. A prerequisite is the calculus of one variable, although calculus of several variables, and linear algebra are recommended. The text covers the standard topics in first and second order equations, power series solutions, first order systems, Laplace transforms, numerical methods and stability of non-linear systems. Liberal use is made of programs in Mathematica, both for symbolic computations and graphical displays. The programs are described in separate sections, as well as in the accompanying Mathematica notebooks. However, the book has been designed so that it can be read with or without Mathematica and no previous knowledge of Mathematica is required. The CD-ROM contains the Mathematica solution of worked examples, a selection of various Mathematica notebooks, Mathematica movies and sample labs for students. Mathematica programs and additional problem/example files will be available online through the TELOS Web site and the authors dedicated web site.
