Book Mercury Cadmium Telluride

Download or read book Mercury Cadmium Telluride written by Peter Capper and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2011-06-20 with total page 610 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mercury cadmium telluride (MCT) is the third most well-regarded semiconductor after silicon and gallium arsenide and is the material of choice for use in infrared sensing and imaging. The reason for this is that MCT can be ‘tuned’ to the desired IR wavelength by varying the cadmium concentration. Mercury Cadmium Telluride: Growth, Properties and Applications provides both an introduction for newcomers, and a comprehensive review of this fascinating material. Part One discusses the history and current status of both bulk and epitaxial growth techniques, Part Two is concerned with the wide range of properties of MCT, and Part Three covers the various device types that have been developed using MCT. Each chapter opens with some historical background and theory before presenting current research. Coverage includes: Bulk growth and properties of MCT and CdZnTe for MCT epitaxial growth Liquid phase epitaxy (LPE) growth Metal-organic vapour phase epitaxy (MOVPE) Molecular beam epitaxy (MBE) Alternative substrates Mechanical, thermal and optical properties of MCT Defects, diffusion, doping and annealing Dry device processing Photoconductive and photovoltaic detectors Avalanche photodiode detectors Room-temperature IR detectors

Book Materials Characterization for Systems Performance and Reliability

Download or read book Materials Characterization for Systems Performance and Reliability written by James W. McCauley and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-13 with total page 595 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Sagamore Army Materials Research Conferences have been held in the beautiful Adirondack Mountains of New York State since 1954. Organized and conducted by the Army Materials and Mechanics Research Center (Watertown, Massachusetts) in cooperation with Syracuse University, the Conferences have focused on key issues in Materials Science and Engineering that impact directly on current or future Army problem areas. A select group of speakers and attendees are assembled from academia, industry, and other parts of the Department of Defense and Government to provide an optimum forum for a full dialogue on the selected topic. This book is a collection of the full manuscripts of the formal presentations given at the Conference. The emergence and use of nontraditional materials and the excessive failures and reject rates of high technology, materials intensive engineering systems necessitates a new approach to quality control. Thus, the theme of this year's Thirty-First Conference, "Materials Characterization for Systems Performance and Reliability," was selected to focus on the need and mechanisms to transition from defect interrogation of materials after production to utilization of materials characterization during manufacturing. The guidance and help of the steering committee and the dedicated and conscientious efforts of Ms. Karen Ka100stian, Con ference Coordinator, and Mr. William K. Wilson, and Ms. Mary Ann Holmquist are gratefully acknowledged. The continued active interest and support of Dr. Edward S. Wright, Director, AMMRC; Dr. Robert W. Lewis, Associate Director, AMMRC; and COL L. C. Ross, Commander/ Deputy Director, AMMRC; are greatly appreciated.

Book Mercury Cadmium Telluride Imagers

Download or read book Mercury Cadmium Telluride Imagers written by A.C. Onshage and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1997-06-18 with total page 457 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In two parts, this book describes the evolution of mercury cadmium telluride (HgCdTe) imager structures based upon published patents and patent applications. The first part covers monolithic arrays, and the second part describes hybrid arrays. Each part has 5 chapters, with each document placed in chronological order, with the documents with the earliest priority placed first. Focus has been directed at the steps of manufacturing and structures of imagers. There is an index at the end of the book containing the patent number, the name of the applicant and the date of publication of each cited document. This monograph will serve as a useful summary of the patents and patent applications in the field of mercury cadmium telluride imagers.

This book was released on 1992 with total page 303 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 1992 U.S. Workshop on the Physics and Chemistry of Mercury Cadmium Telluride and Other IR Materials was held in Danvers, Massachusetts, on October 13-15, 1992. This workshop was the eleventh in a series which began in October 1981. Over that time, it has become the preeminent forum for open interdisciplinary discussion of scientific and technological issues concerning HgCdTe. Its scope includes the discussion of other materials which are important to the development of technology based on HgCdTe, e.g., CdZnTe substrates for epitaxial growth and other materials addressing applications for which HgCdTe is the leading contender, e.g., III-V strained-layer superlattices and quantum wells for infrared detectors. Subject areas discussed at the 1992 workshop include material growth processes, electronic and physical characterization, surfaces and interfaces, defects, devices, and superlattices.
