Book excerpt: This Book is based on Ashtavakra Gita, the classic of Vedanta philosophy composed by Ashtavakra. Consolidating the highest flights of Vedic thoughts this work discusses the unity of the individual Self and the Supreme-Self through lucid, poetical language. It is presented as a dialogue between sage Ashtavakra and Janak, the king of Mithila. The book discusses the nature of Self and Reality. According to Ashtavakra, Brahama (the Supreme-Self) is the only self-existent Reality; and the Self of all, at the very essence, is nothing but Brahama. Ashtavakra asserts that there exists a self-existent ever-enduring entity which persists as the eternal abiding substratum of the consciousness of egoism: the 'I' sense; and that is the Atma, our Self. As opposed to Shankaracharya, Ashtavakra offers a more radical view on Vedanta. Ashtavakra insists on the absolute oneness of existence and complete unreality of external world. He does not seem to give much credence to morality and duties. He dismisses names and forms as unreal and signs of Ignorance. An ignorant person's vision is shrouded by names and forms, but the wise one sees only the Self. Acording to Ashtavakra we are already perfect and pure, unfettered and actionless, self-illuminated and taintless. We are not the mind -- and the cause of our bondage is that we are still resorting to making that mind still. Besides the original Sanskrit text, transliteration and translation of the verses is provided.

Download or read book Man s Fate and God s Choice written by Bhimeswara Challa and published by Trafford Publishing. This book was released on 2011-02-09 with total page 609 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world today is facing a bewildering array of problems where human behavior is both brazen and bizarre. Those who are searching for a way out are daring to ask fundamental questions: What is man’s rightful place? Are we a doomed species? Is God becoming weary of mankind? In Man’s Fate and God’s Choice, Bhimeswara Challa shares his comprehensive study of human behavior that suggests that the very paradigm of our thinking is inappropriate for the current challenges we face. In a thoughtful, innovative presentation of ideas, Challa posits that any betterment in human behavior needs a cathartic change at the deepest level, ultimately reawakening the intelligence of the human heart. He begins by examining the greatest challenge of this generation of human beings and continues by placing the multiple identities of man in perspective, reviewing our growing insensitivity to human suffering. Finally, he looks to the living world for inspiration, metaphors, and models for human transformation. Man’s Fate and God’s Choice incisively covers an array of issues and proposes an agenda for action as it challenges those who see misery and ask “Why?” to also see the promise in the rainbow and then ask “Why not?”

Book excerpt: This book bears an appropriate title of 'RAJAYOGA OF GITA [KUNDALINI] -Karma-Jnana-Bhakti-Dhyana'. It is a two-in-one book of its own kind. It combines four books on the subject of Rajayoga viz., 1. 'Worship and Karma [Karma-yoga]' and 2. 'Magnificent Yoga of Kundalini [Rajayoga of Gita - Pantharaja]'. Further books are being covered under the title: Rajayoga Consummation [Kundalini] - Karma-Jnana-Bhakti -Dhyana; viz., 1. 'Splendour of Bhakti and Yoga - Kundalini in Action' and 2. 'Epilogue [Rajayoga of Gita and Dnyaneshwari]'. Thus, it will be a complete presentation of the subject of these four books in one go. The readers will be taken through the various aspects of Rajayoga via the basics that are expounded in the Great Shrimad-Bhagavad Gita and its mystic erudite commentary 'Dnyaneshwari' by the greatest Indian Yogin, devotee and Jnanin Saint Dnyaneshwar of the 13th century India. He was the preceptor of the Kundalini Yoga line of the Natha Siddhas to which the author belongs. This book is an exposition of the Rajayoga - the Kundalini Yoga, as explained by him, the Master Rajayogin of the medieval times. It has bearings upon the theoretical knowledge and practical experience gained by the author over more than three decades of perfected Rajayoga practice. It is born out of the secret knowledge that all the Rajayogins do possess . This book will systematically introduce the readers to various concepts of the Rajayoga in the generalist Yogins' methodologies and thinking, along with special practices of Yoga discipline inherent to the Natha Siddha's traditional ways as expounded through the writings of the Yogin Saint Dnyaneshwar. It has a synopsis of the books published earlier in this series at its end under "Epilogue'. The finest knowledge of the Kundalini Yoga, along with its aspects of Bhakti, Karma and Jnana, is presented in this book which is rarely found in other books on this subject. The presentation of the matter in this book is made almost independent of the other books in this series. However, this author would urge his readers to read all the books in this series for a keen understanding of the subject matter. The other books in this series are as follows: 1. Autobiography of A Natha Siddha Yogin - A Mystique's Travails. 2. Inner Secrets of Rajayoga 3. Ishwara And Worship [Upasana] - Central Theme of Gita

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bhagavad Gita Reader: All Verses in 4 Quarters The Bhagavad Gita has been chanted and read in homes and workplaces. Children and families love to recite it during festivals and gatherings. It is the discourse that instructs man to realign himself to his duty and responsibility. It is the scripture that creates a strong foundation for implicit faith and concordant action in day to day life. How may we read the Gita? Its verses are written in a meter known as Anushtup Chhanda consisting of 32 syllables each. The traditional way to recite is to pause after 8 syllables. However the commonly available editions of the Bhagavad Gita do not give any such pause. This is a Reader that lists all the 700 verses of the Gita with pauses at 8 syllables i.e. at each quarter. A complete Devanagari Latin Transliteration is provided using the iso15919 standard. This makes it very easy for the English reader to quickly learn the proper chanting procedure. The original Sanskrit text is also present with pauses at each pada. The split of the verses is done using Grammar rules of Sandhi as given in the Ashtadhyayi of Panini, a timeless masterpiece on language, word formation and syntax. The correct method to read the Visarga, the Anusvara and the Avagraha is clearly explained. The complete Devanagari Alphabet with pronunciation key is also supplied. Thus it fulfills a basic academic need of individuals, schools or colleges using the Bhagavad Gita in any manner. Most institutes imparting Sanskrit teaching also use the Gita and this book is an apt textbook for the same.

In a way, it is secular. Anyone who is on the way to Godhood can learn a lot from this book, irrespective of his religion. It can help one to understand what the saints of every religion had experienced from their initiation to the ultimate state. It is the Oriental Wisdom in its true form and practical demonstration. Its basis is the secret knowledge that the Indian Yogis hold close to their hearts. The scholars of Oriental disciplines can also learn much from it. It narrates many a phenomenon of Yoga with actual experiences and their explanation, including those of the mysterious Kundalini. It is a must read for all interested in the mysteries of Yoga and Kundalini which the Siddha Yogis rarely reveal to all. The author Vibhakar Lele is from the tradition of Siddha Yogis from the Natha sect from Saint Dnyaneshwar who has revealed many secrets of Yoga with experiences on the Path. His book is deemed to be useful also to the Shaktipata and other Kriya-yoga followers and also those who lack adequate guidance form their Gurus/peers. Secondly, it contains an important section on the Yoga and the philosophy of Gita as expounded by the great Maharashtrian Saint Dnyaneshwar. It contains an overall review for the beginners from the Yogic perspective and an all-too-important commentary on the mysterious Kundalini. Science has never explained fully the real basis of life as we know it. Overall, it may satisfy all the craving for the mysterious and the unknown that is never even scraped by modern science. It also gives an understanding of the riddle of the Universe and Life which stands alternatively explained in most cogent terms by the Yogis and Indian philosophers, in their own way. Just please have a look inside the book and decide for yourself. It is deemed to be a book worth keeping and preserving for a lifetime to be passed down the generations for real wisdom of Who We Are and How We achieve the Kingdom that belongs to us, the Nirvana, the Moksha, or whatever one prefers to call it, the Heavens, the Godhood et al. The reader, too, like so many others before him, is expected to find this book vastly entertaining and opening the vista upon a secret dimension that is life of a human being upon this planet. Those who are curious about Yogic experiences will most likely have their curiosity satisfied. Others who are having such experiences themselves may, no doubt, be happy to find clues and explanation to their mysterious experiences. the author would be happy if it be so. If the book adds to your knowledge of Yoga and Gita-Dnyaneshwari, at least a modicum, the author will say that this book has achieved what it was brought forth for.

Book The Hidden Teaching Beyond Yoga

Download or read book The Hidden Teaching Beyond Yoga written by Paul Brunton and published by North Atlantic Books. This book was released on 2015-05-05 with total page 401 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Inspired by his time spent with wise sages in Asia in the 1930s, Paul Brunton (1898-1981) wrote The Hidden Teaching Beyond Yoga (and its companion volume The Wisdom of the Overself) at the request of these remarkable teachers, who recognized that he had a significant role to play in the transmission of Hindu Vedanta and Buddhism to the West. Brunton's books are a profound re-creation of the teachings of those two philosophical schools of thought, informed by the insights of deep meditation. Clearly written without the specialized vocabulary found in those traditions, the books speak directly to the contemporary spiritual seeker. The Hidden Teaching Beyond Yoga is a step-by-step guide to actually experiencing the spiritual truth that reality is formed within our consciousness rather than outside us in the world of material things. Brunton's expert analysis of perception, grounded in science, is designed to awaken us to our sacred foundation and to transform our personality into a mirror of that reality. Brunton prepares us for this journey by describing the attitudes, mental disciplines, and character traits that are beneficial for success in this quest. This new edition has been updated to incorporate the author's final revisions and includes an introduction by the Paul Brunton Philosophic Foundation.
