Nachiket Chanchani?s innovative study explores scores of stone edifices and steles that were erected in this landscape. Through their forms, locations, interactions with the natural environment, and sociopolitical context, these lithic ensembles evoked legendary worlds, embedded historical memories in the topography, changed the mountain range?s appearance, and shifted its semiotic effect. The rural areas supply perishable items to urban areas and from urban areas, migrants send remittances back to their homes in rural areas. In India, where 68.85 percent of the population resided in rural area in 2011, the balanced regional development is required to achieve uniform and equitable distribution of resources.
